All paths lead to an unavoidable outcome, at least that’s the conclusion demonstrated by the teenage motley crew facing a nightmarish problem in director Alessio Liguori’s “Shortcut.” If only someone had course-corrected the filmmakers on their own route to making this letdown of a horror road-movie, which gets off to a good start before losing its way. With lackluster character development, a few ill-conceived situations in the second half and dialogue that sounds like it’s been run through Google Translate, there’s only a modest amount of entertainment value found therein.
It was supposed to be an average bus ride home from school for shy high-schooler Nolan (Jack Kane) and his classmates artistic Bess (Sophie Jane Oliver), loudmouth Karl (Zander Emlano), intelligent Queenie (Molly Dew) and rebellious Reggie (Zak Sutcliffe). The kids razz each other, trade prophetic riddles and discuss the rare lunar eclipse happening that night.

All you need to make a horror thriller is a bus, five kids, and a mysterious creature, according to a new trailer for Shortcut. The title resonates for horror fans, since we all know that taking a shortcut is a *bad* idea that inevitably leads to bad things happening. Directed by Alessio Liguori, the film hails from Italy and is presented in English, which makes a certain kind of sense for a certain kind of contained, horror adventure. The cast includes Jack Kane, Zak Sutcliffe, Andrei Claude, Sophie Jane Oliver, and Terence Anderson. It's heading for more than 200 theaters (drive-in and otherwise) in the U.S. on September 25, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures, with a VOD release to follow in December. Here is the official...

We knew Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) was a bad man, but we didn't think he'd stoop this low. Terence committed the ultimate betrayal when he engaged in a secret affair with none other than Kyle West's (Josh Henderson) ex-fiancée, Lisbeth (Ashley Grace). That's just one of many jaw-dropping details we learned about Kyle's past on tonight's episode of The Arrangement. The episode kicks off with Kyle recounting the night Lisbeth left him during an interview on the Iris Holloway Show. In the flashback, we see Kyle come home to discover his fiancée is nowhere to be found. After a series of unanswered calls and texts, Kyle sees that Lisbeth left a...

There's nowhere to hide... Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista) had no idea what she was getting herself into when she agreed to start doing therapy sessions with Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) on The Arrangement, but she's about to find out there's way more to him then meets the eye. "Working in this industry it puts these standards, this enormous pressure on people, on women…" Megan tells him in their first session together. Although she is certain that she's pulled the wool over Terence's eyes, he knows there is far more than she's leading him to believe. "You're deflecting. There is something else at the core of your stress. Somewhere you...

Sometimes the only way to confront your fears is to face them head on! In an effort to get to the root of what's causing her so much stress, Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista) meets up with Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) to work out her in issues in this clip from Sunday's The Arrangement. The conversation quickly turns intense when Terence starts calling Megan out for the anger she's been running away from. "You travelled across the world to confront the step brother who abused you and then also left you. And what kind of person agrees to a contract marriage?" Terence asks. "Enough!" Megan cries out. "A person who needs it, who feels...

You know what they say about frenemies! In this new teaser for season two of The Arrangement, it looks like Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista) is going to have to keep her friends close and her enemies closer if she wants to take down Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) and the Institute for the Higher Mind. "Terence, he's built Ihm off of your fame. Look what he does to people. He controls you," Megan stresses to Kyle (Josh Henderson). But even with all her feelings about Terrence and the Ihm, as a great actress, Megan knows she has to play both sides to come out on top. "Something else is going on and I think you and I should work together until...

It hasn't exactly been a fairy tale romance for Kyle West (Josh Henderson) and Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista). In this clip from Sunday's season two premiere of The Arrangement, Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) encourages Kyle to forget his troubled script and write a speech from his heart for Ihm's Sunday gathering, but Kyle decides to open up to Megan instead. "You wanna talk about the script now?" Megan asks. "No, I wanna know how you're feeling first," Kyle says. "About the script?" Megan retorts. "About me," Kyle insists. Megan seems visibly perplexed as to why Kyle would ask such a thing. "You're the love of my life, why...

Kyle West (Josh Henderson) and Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) are going head to head at the shooting range. In this clip from Sunday's season two premiere of The Arrangement, the pair gets competitive, but it's only a little brotherly bet. "You are a dangerous man," Kyle tells Terence. While Kyle ultimately emerges victorious, he's not opposed to taking it up a notch. "Screw the money, let's shoot at each other," Kyle jokes. "Are you kidding me? The last thing I need is your blood on my hands," Terence responds. Shooting isn't the only thing these two are competitive over. It's not long before Kyle and Terence butt...

Nothing wrong with a little bit of conflict! The Arrangement's Terence Anderson (Michael Vartan) and Deann Anderson (Lexa Doig) are not your average husband and wife. They're at the top of one of the most powerful institutes in Hollywood, and while they may be a classic power couple on the surface, underneath it all, they're struggling with their own agendas that may threaten to tear them apart. E! sat down with the actors and show creator Jonathan Abrahams to discuss exactly what season two has in store for these lovebirds. "Terence and Deann obviously have been together for a long time, but there is conflict in that marriage, as in any marriage. But theirs particularly,...

From friends to frenemies... But the gesture is definitely a bad idea because the movie star has zero interest in any of his "bulls--t" conversations or apologies after being forced to sleep with the cop in order to protect the Institute and its reputation. “I feel like my career is just beginning.”
It’s a curious thing for Michael Vartan to say, and even he admits it’s an “odd” remark to make. At 48 years old, the actor maintains a healthy, youthful perspective about his life and career, the latter of which has spanned nearly three decades. Though he isn’t a household name, Vartan made a mark playing resident nice guys and men you’d want to take home to your parents, like CIA handler Michael Vaughn on Alias and the English teacher who fell in love with Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed.
“For the first part of my career, I’ve really been an insecure actor. I’ve really struggled to find ways to be good,” Vartan reflects over the phone one early February morning, graciously apologizing earlier for being under the weather. “As I get older, it’s not that I care less, but I really...

How can you not be intrigued by a title like “Harpoon: Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre”? It got me with “Harpoon”. Of course, a blurb calling it “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on a whaler” didn’t hurt, either. I mean, how many slasher films have you seen set on a whaler? That’s a new one. Great harpooning fun is guaranteed when the film lands on DVD in the UK May 2010 courtesy of E1 Entertainment. Check out a teaser trailer below. An epic tale about a group of whale watchers, whose ship breaks down and they get picked up by a whale fisher vessel. The Fishbillies on the vessel has just gone bust, and everything goes out of control. Starring Pihla Viitala, Nae, Terence Anderson, Miranda Hennessy, Aymen Hamdouchi, Carlos Takeshi, Miwa Yanagizawa, Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir, Guðlaug Ólafsdóttir, Snorri Engilbertsson, Gunnar Hansen, and directed by Júlíus Kemp.
