Actor Ryan Corr revealed his greatest fear while he looked back on his experience on set for his film Sting in his new uInterview.
“The premise is, a giant alien spider from outer space finds its way into a New York City apartment, and more particularly to a young Charlotte, who she befriends, and as she sort of raises this spider and it grows,” Corr told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “The problems in the nuclear family and the issues that are possibly in the relationships there start to grow as well. They have to come together to fight this alien spider and the elements that are coming up in the family.
Of his character Ethan, Corr said, “Ethan is Charlotte’s stepfather and Heather’s husband. For me, this film was an homage to stepparents. I’ve grown up myself with two wonderful stepparents, and I always thought the dynamic was really interesting.

Sasquatch Sunset directors Nathan and David Zellner always wondered what these hairy giants do when they’re not walking – the only Bigfoot footage available has been a minute of a supposed Sasquatch wandering in the northern California woods. They decided to flesh that out in unique dialogue-free comedic imagining of the creatures’ daily life – eating, fighting, etc. Stars Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough, Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner are unrecognizable as the hairy tribe of four that entranced Sundance (see Deadline review). Bleecker Street is opening the film, written by David Zellner, executive produced by Ari Aster, in 9 theaters in New York, LA, San Francisco and Austin, ahead of a big jump to about 800 screens next week.

Writer/Director Kiah Roache-Turner wears his influences on his sleeves in the throwback creature feature Sting. A mysterious object from outer space crashes into a New York apartment amidst a raging blizzard, where the mysterious spider inside it is discovered by a girl named Charlotte. Charlotte dubs her new pet Sting, unaware that it’s not from Earth and comes with an insatiable appetite for human flesh. As the spider’s reign of terror increases, so does Roache-Turner’s commitment to capturing the mayhem through stunning practical creature effects, which makes this film worth the price of admission.
It’s not just the spider’s pet name, derived from The Hobbit, or the effects by the 5-time Academy Award® Winner Wētā Workshop, led by Creative Director Richard Taylor, that calls the work of Peter Jackson to mind here. It’s also the film’s sense of humor, from the opening...

A killer spider terrorises a New York apartment building in a tonally messy horror with some great creature effects. Our review of Sting:
Odd name for a killer spider movie, Sting. For that we can thank Tolkien-loving 12 year-old Charlotte (Alyla Browne) who chooses it as the nickname for the arachnid she finds scuttling around her dimly-lit New York apartment building. Sweeping the critter into a jar and intent on keeping it as a pet, Charlotte is blissfully unaware that Sting is capable of escaping from its glass prison and, as it dines on other living things roaming around the building, will soon grow to a frightening size.
Written and directed by Australian filmmaker Kiah Roache-Turner, Sting is an eclectic mash-up of styles and influences. Its snowbound apartment setting, every floor filled with eccentrics, immediately recalls Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro’s Delicatessen. Roache-Turner seems to relish in the little...

In “Sting,” a giant-spider-grows-in-Brooklyn thriller that’s cheeky, bloody, and (most important) very gooey, Sting is the name given by Charlotte (Alyla Browne), a precocious tween, to the elegant two-inch-long black spider that becomes her pet (she keeps it in a jar and feeds it bugs). Yet given how much slaughter is caused by this omnivorous arachnid, which grows bigger and bigger with each feeding, the moniker turns out to be a major understatement. It’s as if Jason Vorhees were named “Paper Cut.”
“Sting” is a wee sliver of a horror film that’s tongue-in-cheek but also quite matter-of-fact about its creature-feature jokiness. It’s the monster-bug thriller as light dessert. The spider, it turns out, is an alien — after a gruesome prologue with lots of whooshing “Evil Dead” camera movement, the movie cuts to four days earlier, when a fiery meteorite crashes through an apartment roof in South...

From Arachnophobia to Itsy Bitsy, from Tarantula to Abyssal Spider, killer spider movies have always been in style. But there’s something special about the newest eight-legged offering, Sting. Sting is everything that’s amazing about creature features.
Sting is about a young girl named Charlotte (Alyla Browne from the unfortunate Children of the Corn remake) who spends her time drawing comics and creeping into her neighbors’ apartments by crawling through the apartment building’s air ducts. One day while doing the latter, she comes across a cute little spider which she takes home and names Sting – not after the rock star or the wrestler, but after the short sword in The Hobbit. Yes, Charlotte is a dork.
But Sting isn’t a normal, run-of-the-mill spider. It’s an alien spider that crashed on Earth in a meteorite. First,...

The redback spider, also known as the Australian black widow, is the kind of creature that might shake a person’s belief in God. This Lovecraftian nightmare freak hunts its prey with balletic precision and squirts them with organic superglue before injecting them with a venom that liquifies their insides; it then binds the victim in a silk straightjacket so that they’re still alive when the redback drinks their organs. It mostly feeds on insects, but has been known to devour lizards, snakes, and even mice. The spider’s toxin is powerful enough to kill a human being if left untreated, and is especially harmful to small children. The good news is that an antivenom has been available since 1956. The bad news is that people have had ample reason to use it, as the redback thrives in the dampness of modern architecture, and counts mailboxes and the underside of...

Plot: A 12-year-old girl decides to keep a spider as a pet, not aware that the eight-legged creature is not of this world. The more it eats, the more it grows, and soon a giant space arachnid is running loose in an apartment building, snacking on the residents.
Review: Filmmaker Kiah Roache-Turner is best known for his wild and crazy zombie movies Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead and Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, which blended inspiration from Mad Max and Dawn of the Dead to tell the story of a unique zombie outbreak where the living dead have flammable blood and exhale methane. "What kind of spider are we talking about here?" "A big one." Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for an insanely scary, unsettling horror movie called Sting, arriving in theaters this April. This Australian production comes from a filmmaker named Kiah Roache-Turner, and it looks as scary as any spider movie can. Sting spins a web of thrilling terror when 12-year-old Charlotte’s pet spider rapidly transforms into a giant flesh-eating monster, forcing the young girl to fight for her family's survival. The freaky little creature actually comes from outer space, an alien spider that befriends this little girl before it becomes an enormous killer. This stars Alyla Browne, Ryan Corr, Penelope Mitchell, Jermaine Fowler, Silvia Colloca, Danny Kim, Noni Hazlehurst, and Robyn Nevin. This isn't the only extremely scary spider movie this year - there's also a French horror called Vermin that apparently used real spiders while shooting.

Participating in a fantasy franchise as big and beloved as HBO’s Game of Thrones inevitably means adopting a strange relationship with the public.
Surely not a day goes by when Emilia Clarke isn’t questioned about the location and health of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons. And it will be a long time before Kit Harrington stops hearing “you know nothing, Jon Snow.” Still, when Matthew Needham (Endeavour) signed on to portray murderous gossipmonger Larys Strong in the Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, he couldn’t have possibly anticipated the moment that fans would eventually latch onto.
“The amount of people who have come up to me and said ‘I felt soiled after that scene. I felt like I needed to take a shower … ‘” Needham tells Den of Geek.

“House of the Dragon” has made a name for itself not only as HBO’s wildly popular “Game of Thrones” prequel, but also as a show with a large following that loves to dissect its use of the female gaze, its portrayal of a deeply intimate friendship between young women and that relationship’s subsequent dissolution, and its intense appeal to fans of the romance genre.
For just a glimpse at this group, head over to TikTok, where you’ll find users cutting videos on everything from their preference between Rhaenrya Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and her uncle Daemon’s (Matt Smith) romance and her short-lived turn with Ryan Corr’s Harwin Strong, to the complexities of Alicent Hightower’s (Olivia Cooke) ruthless decisions made in the name of her children juxtaposed with her seeming attraction to childhood friend Rhaenyra.

Spoilers ahead for season 1 of "House of the Dragon."
The end of the first season of the HBO series "House of the Dragon" was harrowing ... not that we'd expect anything less from a show based on the work of author George R.R. Martin. As I'm sure you recall because the image is burned into your brain, Lucerys Targaryen (Elliot Grihault) was sent by his mother Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) to stir up her allies but was attacked by Alicent's (Olivia Cooke) son Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). Both of their dragons were out of their control, and Aemond's much, much larger one snaps Luke's dragon in half like a twig, sending him into the sea.
Rhaenyra has been through many deaths in her life; her parents, her lover Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr), and her stillborn daughter. The death of her son, though, was the blow to end all blows. Though audiences may have expected her anger,...

"House of the Dragon"'s titular house, House Targaryen, issues a promise - and a warning - with their House words "Fire and Blood," and season one of the "Game of Thrones" drama definitely lived up to those words. There were brutal deaths and births, painful marriages, literal backstabbings, heartbreaking betrayals, steamy sex scenes, and lots of dragons. Season one covers what leads to the civil war known as the Dance of Dragons, where the realm will be torn apart and forced to choose who they think their real sovereign should be: Queen Rhaenyra or Prince Aegon. So far, the show has mostly focused on Rhaenyra and her stepmother Alicent's journey from childhood friends to fierce rivals torn apart by patriarchal forces.
If you want a refresher on everything that went down during the first 10 episodes of the Westeros-set drama, we've got you covered. Here's a recap of "House of the Dragon" season one.

In episode seven of "House of the Dragon," Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) uses the phrase "the greens." It's the first acknowledgment by the series of the two factions that have arisen in the quest for the throne: the greens, who back Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), and the blacks, who back Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra mentions the greens while talking to her uncle (and husband), Daemon (Matt Smith). But where did these names come from?
It all goes back to the fifth episode, when Queen Alicent (played at the time by Emily Carey) makes a bold declaration when she bursts into the welcome feast for Princess Rhaenyra's wedding in a sumptuous green dress. Earlier in the episode, she learned that Rhaenyra had misled her, letting Alicent defend her to her father, Viserys (Paddy Considine), and losing Alicent's own father, Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), his place as Hand of the King. Larys Strong (Matthew Needham...

HBO's "House of the Dragon" has certainly shaken up the entertainment world and stirred a frenzy among "Game of Thrones" fans, whether it be for the intriguing storylines or the fresh-faced cast members. The historically fantastical world created by George R.R. Martin has always been riddled with violence, with some of the most memorable episodes of "Game of Thrones" centering around legendary battles and wedding night massacres. Thus far, the spin-off series "House of the Dragon" has been a masterclass in emotional manipulation and the devastating understanding that the birthing bed is as much of a battlefield as the fields of war. However, without White Walkers, Wildlings, and multiple kingdoms fighting for the Iron Throne, the violence has been minimal compared to the series predecessor. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as extreme portrayals of violence do not a good show make, but "House of the Dragon" finally gave us an epic battle worth talking about, and it's all thanks to the littlest members of the Targaryens and Velaryons.

This article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon episode 7.
An uncomfortable but inevitable romance has finally ignited in Westeros. It feels a bit wrong to have been rooting for Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith) all season, but at least House of the Dragon’s newest power couple aren’t twins? And the seventh episode definitely addresses the slow burn building of an alliance between the two rebellious dragonriders on their way to an epic “dance” of war.
But is it also true love?
Fire calls to fire, and if one overlooks their royally tangled bloodlines, the sexual tension between Rhaenyra and Daemon has simmered from the show’s start. In episode four, desire escalated when Daemon encouraged his young niece (then played by Milly Alcock) to sneak away from the palace in disguise and join him on a tour of the capital’s seedier side,...

Leo Hart stars as Young Jacaerys Targaryen in Episode 7 of House of the Dragon Season 1. Pic credit: HBO/Ollie Upton
Episode 6 of House of the Dragon saw a very interesting set-up within the marriage of Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Ser Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan).
This had been explored earlier in Season 1 and had Rhaenyra and Laenor agreeing to marry but to explore other partners outside of the marriage due to Laenor being gay.
Rhaenyra also pursued her own love interests and Episode 6 revealed that her three children, Jacaerys (Leo Hart), Lucerys (Harvey Sadler), and Joffrey, were actually the offspring of Ser Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr) and not Laenor.
This was kept a secret as this sort of adultery with the princess is considered treason. However, rumors were already starting to spread because the children look nothing like their pale-haired parents.

House of the Dragon is losing producers as quickly as it's losing cast members. Jocelyn Diaz, who served as an executive producer on the first season of the Game of Thrones prequel series, will not return for season two, according to Deadline. No one is Westeros is having a good time. Even Prince Aegon Targaryen (Ty Tennant) is unable to masturbate out his castle window in peace. The pressures of the realm, family, duty, society, the body, and petty jealousy weigh down on every single person at King's Landing and beyond. The 10 year time jump between episodes five and six of "House of the Dragon" may have changed some actors and looks for the characters, but the unpleasantness of life is still as present as ever. With this being a story that comes from George R.R. Martin, I don't expect much light to enter their lives anytime soon. He isn't one for fun parties and happy endings.

Time jumps in television shows can be difficult to navigate, especially when recasting actors. In the case of "House of the Dragon," Milly Alcock and Emily Carey both gave fantastic performances as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower respectively, so saying goodbye to these two actors hasn't been easy for viewers. The show is well-written, but it's fair to say that Alcock and Carey are the reason we've all come to care so much about these two young women over the past five episodes. The show's sixth installment, "The Princess and the Queen," reintroduced us to these characters 10 years later, and while they do bear a rather striking resemblance to their teenage counterparts, they are now played by different actors.
Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke have moved into the roles of Rhaenyra and Alicent, who weren't the only younger characters to be recast. Siblings Laenor and Laena Velaryon are played by new performers as well.

This post contains major spoilers for the latest episode of "House of the Dragon."
We knew the "House of the Dragon" time jump was coming, but did that make it sting any less? Definitely not. It was still jarring to see the show's talented young leads, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey, suddenly replaced by the (also-talented!) duo of Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke just after we'd gotten used to them. Since the battlefield-heavy "Game of Thrones" disoriented viewers with a surprise beheading near the end of its first season, it makes sense that the court-set drama "House of the Dragon" would throw us off kilter with something as surprisingly painful as the passage of time instead.

House of the Dragon viewers were reminded of a certainGame of Thrones character in the prequel’s latest episode.
Sunday night’s (25 September) episode of the spin-off series moved the story on in rapid fashion, jumping forward 10 years in time.
Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke officially succeeded Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Princess Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent respectively, and the episode revealed that, in the space of a decade, the former friends’ relationship has completely eroded.
If there was any chance of them ever reaching a truce, though, Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) shot it down in chilling fashion.
*Spoilers follow – you have been warned*
The episode filled viewers in on the fact that Larys’s brother Harwin (Ryan Corr) had fathered Rhaenyra’s children, despite her marriage to Laenor (John Macmillan). The identity of their father was an open secret in King’s Landing, and led to a fight...

House of the Dragon fans who grew fond of Milly Alcock’s young Princess Rhaenyra and Emily Carey’s young Alicent Hightower didn’t seem to suffer from too much whiplash Sunday after seeing them replaced by older actresses Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke.
If anything, the 10-year time jump gave viewers the villain they were ready and eager to hate in the Game of Thrones spinoff on HBO — the petty and vengeful Queen Alicent.
For those who haven’t watched the latest installment from Westeros, Alicent used to be best friends with Rhaenyra until she married her bestie’s dad, King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and started having his babies. Their hatred toward one another was in full bloom Sunday as the much older Rhaenyra gave birth to her third son and the queen demanded an immediate audience with the infant.
Why? Because Alicent knows the father is not Ser Laenor Velaryon,...

Tolstoy once wrote that “all happy families are alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”. It is a credo that George Rr Martin, author of the Game of Thrones series, carried through into his novels. And here, in the first episode where House of the Dragon takes a significant jump forward in time, the mantra is as true as ever. This is now the story of three, deeply unhappy, families.
Family affair
The first of these families is headed by Princess Rhaenyra (now played by Emma D’Arcy) who has just given birth for the third time. Her sham marriage to Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) has necessitated the procreational skills of Ser Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr), eldest son of the Hand. “Healthy?” she asks the midwife, as the baby arrives. “Kicking like a goat, Princess,” the woman replies, earthily.
But the child, (fake) father and mother are...
