Dave Van den Heuvel
- Director
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
- Producer
Dave Van den Heuvel was born in Kortrijk,
Flanders, Belgium as third of three children from parents Poulain Van
den Heuvel. Dave attended film school at the RITS in Brussels after his
studies at the Sint-Joseph Institute in Kortrijk. His interests for
film-production were already present at a very young age. When he was
10 he directed small family films, and got his first assignment at the
age of 14 making a movie about different rock-festivals in Belgium. At
16 he directed his first play and 2 years, after graduation at college,
he was active in a lot of film productions as assistant location
manager and assistant director. Eventually he got called for a lot of
assistant directing jobs, for Une belle journée (2001) and Les Petits
oiseaux (2001). His own short movie Nuit d'Amour (1999) was his first
student film which got a lot of acclaim. But since Belgium doesn't have
a lot of film productions, many young filmmakers like Dave, went on the
road of the commercial films. He directed about 20 films for mayor
companies and got in 2003 his first "Gold Award" for a TV-spot for the
Agency Grey, which got him recognized as a young promising director.
Dave made a
second short movie, eXit and went on working as a director in the
advertising sector for different companies.
