Margot Polivy(1938-2023)
She was a lawyer who worked for the enactment and enforcement of Title IX, the federal legislation that greatly expanded opportunities for women in college sports. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Hunter College in New York, and taught gym at Hunter College High School before attending New York University's law school. After receiving her law degree, she moved to Washington DC, working for the FCC and then as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Bella Abzug. She later went into private practice.
