Marvel’s Echo series marks the launch of the company’s Marvel Spotlight banner, which will be their platform for “more grounded, character-driven stories” that don’t require a knowledge of “larger MCU continuity” – although the show does serve as a follow-up to the Hawkeye series and has ties to the Netflix Daredevil show and the upcoming Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again. All of these connections are made clear in the most recent trailer for Echo, which uses stock footage from Hawkeye and Daredevil up front. You can watch it in the embed above.
The Echo character was introduced in the pages of the Daredevil comic book back in 1999, so it’s fitting that her show will have firm ties to Daredevil.

The "John Wick" films are action masterpieces, but let's face it: They're tightly focused on Mr. Wick and his battle against the High Table of assassins. With a world surrounding him that's enticingly rich, intriguingly layered, and ambiguously constructed, there's a wealth of possibility for other stories to be found within that world -- stories that have the potential to be just as exciting.
That's where Peacock's new three-night event series "The Continental: From the World of John Wick" comes in. Written by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, Ken Kristensen, and Shawn Simmons and directed by Charlotte Brändström (Night 2) and Albert Hughes (Nights 1 & 3), the series is set in 1970s New York City and follows a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) as he attempts to avenge his brother Frankie (Ben Robson) and take over the mysterious hotel full of assassins known as The Continental.

The official trailer for Peacock’s three-part The Continental: From the World of John Wick event series delves into Winston Scott’s backstory and how he wound up in charge of The Continental. The trailer’s got action, intrigue, and our first good look at Mel Gibson as the big bad.
Colin Woodell stars as the younger version of Ian McShane’s Winston Scott, and Ayomide Adegun plays the young Charon, the fan-favorite character brought to life by Lance Reddick in the John Wick films.
The cast also includes Mishel Prada as Kd, Ben Robson as Frankie, Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles, Nhung Kate as Yen, Jessica Allain as Lou, Jeremy Bobb as Mayhew, and Peter Greene as Young Uncle Charlie.
Discussing this prequel, executive producer Basil Iwanyk said, “The four Wick films take place over a 3-month span. John is either chasing or being chased. There has been no time to take a breath,...

Peacock has released the official trailer for “The Continental,” the latest addition to the “John Wick” franchise. The Mel Gibson-led miniseries is a prequel to the films starring Keanu Reeves, and centers around Winston Scott (Colin Woodell), who came to acquire The Continental, a notorious chain of hotels that Scott established as a neutral haven for housing assassins.
“The Continental” is an enthralling ode to New York in the 1970s, featuring Donna Summer songs, Studio 54-esque club scenes and lots and lots of guns against the backdrop of the city’s dark and dirty streets. The Lionsgate Television project first gained buzz back in 2017 and was originally planned to air on Starz.
Gibson plays ruthless kingpin Cormac alongside Woodell’s Winston Scott (previously played by Ian McShane). The three-part miniseries also stars Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada and Nhung Kate.

Ninety-five members of the Writers Guild of America have signed a letter sent to the guild’s board of directors urging that it divest from gun companies and any companies that support the NRA.
The letter, sent to the Board Tuesday, warns “Gun violence enabled by the ready availability of military grade weapons, has become one of the biggest threats to the safety and security of the American people.” The letter continues, “We urge the WGA and the WGA Pension Plan to divest of all stocks of any gun or ammunition manufacturer, and any company that provides material support to the gun industry lobbying organization called The National Rifle Association, whether through donations, deductions or other means (e.g. Federal Express), until such time as sensible national gun reform legislation is passed.”
It is signed by 95 members of both WGA West and WGA East.

Update Sunday, 7:40 Pm: one of the television pitches alluded to earlier was a concept by comic author Ken Kristensen for a historical drama set in Oklahoma during the 1920s. The proposed show would follow the first-ever FBI undercover operation, conducted during the investigation of what’s known today as the “Osage Reign of Terror”. That event saw at least 60 members of the Osage tribe killed, between 1921 and the later 1920s, by whites trying steal oil rights. It’s a…...

House of Cards, 1.1-1.6: Charismatic leads, style make up for familiar story
House of Cards is a bold venture, to say the least. Netflix’s first sole foray into television, a remake of a 1990 BBC miniseries, the series came with a hefty price tag and a high profile, with David Fincher on board as a first-time television director. No one can know what the future holds for streaming television, but for Netflix, and House of Cards, it certainly looks rosy… (click here to read the full article)

Todd the Ugliest Kid on Earth #1
Written by Ken Kristensen
Art and Cover by M.K. Perker and Colorist Cemal Soyleyen
Published by Image Comics
When a comic is prefaced with a special thanks to Todd Solondz (director of Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness), it’s safe to assume you’re in for a work of thorny humor. Angsty eccentricity is the sap of the suburban comedy, but writer Ken Kristensen and artist M.K. Perker’s Todd the Ugliest Kid on Earth trades in angst for innocence in what is surely the boldest, most controversial book released so far this year.
Issue one of this new mini-series sets up a colorful ensemble of complicated characters who each represent a different mindset of suburban America. Todd is the upbeat optimist, a kid so ugly he wears a bag over his head, but you know he’s always smiling regardless.
