Horror film "The Haunting in Connecticut" has debuted straight to number one on the DVD and Blu-ray charts with 1.5 million units sold.
The Lionsgate and Gold Circle Films production, which was released in March this year, also became the second top film rented in video stores nationwide and the third most downloaded iTunes title for the week.
The film, allegedly based on a true story, explores a family's paranormal experiences upon moving into a Connecticut home. It stars Virginia Madsen, Kyle Gallner, Martin Donovan, Amanda Crew, Elias Koteas and Erik J. Berg, and was directed by Peter Cornwell.
Lionsgate Home Entertainment General Manager and Executive VP Ron Schwartz said, "People have always been fascinated by real-life supernatural events and the fact that 'The Haunting in Connecticut' was based on true events certainly piqued the public's curiosity in seeing the movie."...
