Talent Search
The TV Foundation, an umbrella charity of the Edinburgh TV Festival supported by YouTube and Screen Scotland, is partnering with Louis Theroux on Looking for Louis, a new talent search venture to seek out the next generation of investigative documentary filmmakers. The search is being executed at Theroux’s Mindhouse Productions in partnership with The TV Foundation and Amazon Prime Video and supported by The TriForce Creative Network. Those looking to apply will be required to submit a one-page pitch for a two-minute micro-doc, with a shortlist of 10 selected to make their film, shot on a mobile phone. Six finalists will then be selected to attend and screen their work at Edinburgh, where Theroux and his production company partners Nancy Strang and Arron Fellows will announce the winning film.

After Aston Villa failed to make a single signing in January new French manager Remi Garde will consider his future at the club, according to the Daily Star. He says there were financial constraints that saw him miss out on all of his January targets.
Garde says Villa moved the goalposts, deciding not to spend on the reinforcements who could have brought Premier League safety.
“Maybe it was not as clear when I signed, but it’s something that I don’t want to discuss too much. I understand that you cannot carry on doing the same things when you have not been as successful as you have wanted.”
“The situation of a team at the bottom of the table was not easy for players but that was not the only reason. It was also a financial problem. Probably the club realised mistakes has been made in the past,...

Newcastle United are yet to win a Premier League match under Steve McClaren and currently sit 19th in the table with two points from four games.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted that the Magpies will struggle again this season and believes they will finish in 15th place come the end of May.
It’s tough to make an accurate prediction so early in the season but it does seem that Merson thinks both of the North East teams will struggle as he’s placed Sunderland in the bottom three.
Merson said:
“Newcastle are about the same as West Ham. I like Steve McClaren, he’s a good manager, and I think they will just consolidate this year and don’t want to be in a relegation battle.
“I want to see Sunderland stay up – it’s a big football club – but I always think,...
