Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for You season 4 parts 1 and 2. You season 4 brings a lot of change to this established show. For one, the concept of breaking the entire season down into two parts is a deviation from the first three seasons of You. Additionally, Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg goes by the name Jonathan Moore. Goldberg’s move to London to pose as a professor is meant to be the start of his new life, which is not different than previous seasons, but unsurprisingly, things quickly go awry. Once again, Joe is plagued by death all...

Fans are thrilled with the return of fan-favorite Netflix psychological thriller, You, for its fourth season. The series kicks off with Joe in London under a new identity — Professor Jonathan Moore. This time around, he tries to keep a low profile but as expected, that doesn’t last too long. Joe ends up intertwined in a murder mystery, but surprisingly, he’s not the killer. The show doesn’t shy away from violence, but there was one scene that had to be changed because, even for “You,” it went too far.

Season 4 of You felt different to watch for multiple reasons. One is that Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) had a different type of relationship. Badgley explained why things feel so different with Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie).

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for You Season 4 Part 2.] You Season 4 Part 1 felt like a lot of the same things we’ve seen across the series. But You Season 4 Part 2 flips it all on its head, making for a narrative reset for the Netflix obsessive hit. Penn Badgley‘s Joe Goldberg (disguised as lit professor Jonathan Moore in his new London digs) takes a long, honest look at himself in the mirror for the first time in the fourth season’s second half, streaming on Netflix as of March 9. And he doesn’t like what he sees, mainly because his metaphorical reflection isn’t his own face, rather Rhys Montrose’s (Ed Speleers). Joe’s declining mental state took the mayoral candidate’s likeness and projected him as a figment of his imagination. Rhys was the “physical” manifestation of Joe’s serial killer side, which helped him forget that he was the real Eat the Rich Killer all along.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from Season 4 of “You,” now streaming on Netflix.
“You” can go home again: At the conclusion of Season 4 of the Netflix thriller, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back in New York City, alongside his billionaire girlfriend Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) — sitting on top of the world.
He nearly died by suicide earlier in the episode, in some warped attempt at redemption. But by the finale’s ending, Joe, who’s has killed his way through London (in his fake identity of Professor Jonathan Moore), has emerged exultant. He’s fused with his murderous side, and seemingly happier than he’s ever been on “You.”
“I thought it was the only way it could go,” said Badgley during an interview for the Feb. 15 cover of Variety about where Joe ends up. “I thought it was brilliant.”

The dynamic duo of Penn Badgley and Ed Speleers was enough to have viewers on the edge of their seats until the end credits of the season.
And now, one must wonder, where do they go next with Joe, and will there ever be any comeuppance for him?
At this point, Joe seems his most unstoppable yet! He's made peace with who he is, embraced his dark side entirely, and got the girl despite that and her unlimited money, power, and resources to cover his tracks at every conceivable turn.

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses major plot points from “You” Season 4 Part 2.
“He can’t keep getting away with it,” one might think (à la “Breaking Bad’s” Jesse) when watching each new season of Netflix’s “You.” The soapy thriller, which follows its ever-murderous, ever-weaseling antagonist Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) as he terrorizes and kills person after person, underwent a format change in Season 4 before pulling the rug out from viewers once again in Part 2. With a twist so delirious and ripped directly from Goldberg’s deranged psyche (moonlighting as Professor Jonathan Moore), showrunner Sera Gamble and star Badgley were well aware of the pressures to keep audiences on their toes as they look ahead to new dynamics in a potential fifth season.

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) changed his name multiple times on You. But in many ways, he has stayed the same. This season 4 twist calls back to a shocking season 1 murder.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers from the You Season 4 episode, “The Death of Jonathan Moore.”]
‘You’ Season 4 has a poisoning scare
“She’s Not There” starts with Joe finding where he kept Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). He apologizes and gives her food. What he didn’t know was that Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) was hiding in the shadows, hearing him promise Marienne that he would fix it and free her.
Joe leaves, but he later returns to Marienne. He gets a text from her friend that her daughter is returning to her grandmother. They assume that she deserted her. He gave the mother food and a coffee before trying to free her. Marienne started feeling unwell.
“What did you do?” she asks him. “I didn’t do anything,” he claimed. Marienne took off the lid of her drink.

You is a Netflix series created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble starring Penn Badgley.
This fourth season of You is showing itself to be a completely scathing, sarcastic and lethal portrait of the (high) London society in this highly entertaining plot about a stalker… and it is highly seductive.
A very different series that has managed, with intelligence and a great sense of literary irony, to give a new twist to the topic and a new slant about the established. It knows how to turn around what, supposedly, has upended the social game.
A twisted literary, cinematographic and televisual game that becomes more and more addictive as it evolves.
Don’t miss it

You is currently one of Netflix‘s biggest hits thanks to its excellent storytelling and Penn Badgley’s compelling performance. The show is currently on its fourth season, which was split into two parts, the second scheduled for a March release. No final season details have been formally announced. However, Badgley has teased that may already know how it ends.
The hunter becomes the hunted in ‘You’ Season 4
Joe Goldberg has always made it a habit to stalk anyone he obsesses over, and most of the time, bodies drop once he becomes fixated on someone. Joe found his match in Love Quinn, and for a short while in Season 3, Joe’s suburban life appeared to have tamed him. Until it didn’t.

Penn Badgley has been wowing audiences as Joe Goldberg in Netflix’s You since 2018. The show contains very graphic scenes that even Joe himself cannot seem to stand as he always gets ill when chopping up his victims and he is not alone. Drew Barrymore unleashed her inner scream queen during a recent taping of her talk show. In honor of her 48th birthday on Feb. 22, Barrymore's cohost Ross Mathews decided to treat the "You" superfan to the full Joe Goldberg experience, complete with a life-size torture chamber and appearance from Penn Badgley himself.
Barrymore has starred in countless thrillers and embraces the Halloween spirit, making the gift almost too much to handle. "This is the most exciting blindfolding experience I've ever had," Barrymore said as Mathews led her into a glass box. The setup was strikingly similar to the one Joe (Badgley) uses to trap his victims in the Netflix series, which recently premiered its fourth season.
Seconds later, Mathews instructed Barrymore to remove the blindfold, sending her into a screaming fit as Badgley appeared and tapped on the glass.

Penn Badgley is opening up about the role that got away from him.
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed, the You star was asked what role his fans would be surprised he auditioned for but didn’t get.
“One I got close on was Breaking Bad,” Badgley said. “It was between me and Aaron Paul, we tested.” Paul ended up getting the role of Jesse Pinkman in the hit series that aired for five years between 2008 to 2013.
He went on to praise the show, which won more than one hundred awards over the course of its run.
“Actually, that was the best television script I’d read at that point,” the Gossip Girl alum added. “That was the one that got away.”
Paul played aspiring crystal myth entrepreneur Jesse alongside Bryan Cranston’s Walter White in the original series and reprised his role for the Netflix epilogue movie, El Camino.

Joe Goldberg can never really change.
Despite four seasons of being presented with an opportunity to do so, You has made it clear where it lands on that theses relating to its starring serial killer, played by Penn Badgley.
And Badgley himself, along with the showrunner of the hit Netflix series Sera Gamble, each confirmed that in recent conversations with The Hollywood Reporter after the release of Part 1. “The reality of somebody who kills people is that it’s hard to change, because what you’re having is a response to this deep-grained belief that had to have started in early, early life,” said Badgley.

Rhys Montrose (Ed Speelers), who at the end of last season announced his mayoral candidacy, sees in Joe a kindred spirit: “a friend – someone who shares my interests. Someone I can finally tell my secrets to.”
Picking up right where Part 1 left off, Joe is still a professor living under the name Jonathan Moore in the U.K., where he found himself entangled in a group of elites being targeted by another serial killer: none other than Rhys himself.
After Joe tries to convince Rhys to change his ways with words, he learns that it’ll take more than that to stop the killer in...

‘You’ Drops Trailer For Part 2 Of Season 4; “Bloody Hell” Breaks Out For Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg
“I’m not some cold-blooded psycho.” To which all fans of Netflix’s You would say, sure Joe, sure.
The streamer just dropped the trailer for part 2 of You‘s season 4, which premieres March 9. In the teaser, Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg goes toe-to-toe with Rhys Montrose (Outlander‘s Ed Speleers), a fashionable man he befriended in London this season.
Joe crosses the pond in season 4 to assume the new identity of literary professor Jonathan Moore. Toward the end of the teaser, we see Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), Joe’s former wife whom we thought he killed at the end of season 3. The chickens have come home to roost!
As Deadline reported last September, season 4 of the popular serial killer drama is split into two parts — the first of which dropped Feb. 10. That’s in line with Netflix’s recent release strategy for Stranger Things.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for You Season 4 Part 1 (Episodes 1-5).] The tables have turned on Penn Badgley‘s Joe Goldberg in You Season 4 Part 1, streaming now on Netflix. After murdering his wife, Love (Victoria Pedretti), and leaving their baby, Henry, behind, Joe is living in London disguised as Jonathan Moore, an American literature professor at a university in the city. Externally, he’s keeping up appearances. Internally, he’s convincing himself he’s a good person and that all of his killings were necessary last resorts. The delusion is strong with this one. But there’s a new threat to Joe’s pursuit of peace: the Eat the Rich Killer. This anonymous villain knows Jonathan’s real name and his deadly past. They text Joe threatening notes through an encrypted app where messages (conveniently) disappear upon reading. The killer murders Malcolm (Stephen Hagan), Joe’s colleague and Kate’s (Charlotte Ritchie) live-in partner (their windows are seen from ...

Meet the Eat the Rich Killer, the New Serial Killer Giving Joe a Run For His Money in "You" Season 4
There's no shortage of crime and murder in "You" season four. But the first part of this season has been a surprising turn of events compared to the first three seasons. Instead of the usual stalking and killing in pursuit of his latest obsession that fans have come to expect from Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), there's a new serial killer in town who has become obsessed with figuring out Joe's true identity and taking down members of London's most elite young professionals. So who is this anonymous Eat the Rich Killer? Why did he take such an interest in Joe?
Who Is the Eat the Rich Killer?
This season, Joe has retreated to London to reinvent himself and start over as Professor Jonathan Moore. His neighbor and colleague at the university, Malcolm Harding (Stephen Hagan), introduces Joe to his small but elite circle of friends. In the first episode, Joe...

Netflix's "You" has undergone drastic changes season by season, but Season 4 might be the biggest switch-up so far. This time, Joe isn't the murderer — he's the detective.
Penn Badgley plays the abhorrent main character, a serial killer whose romantic obsessions allow him to justify his own patterns of violence. After having met his match in Love and narrowly escaping, Joe flees to Europe in search of his latest fixation, Marienne Bellamy. He is not only on the run from his wife's powerful family, but also from his own behavior. He wants to change, to prove to Marienne he is worthy of her love. He runs into trouble very quickly when a band of London socialites starts dropping dead around him, and he himself is framed for their murders.
The tables are often turning on Joe, but this time he's not the criminal or the unwilling accomplice — he himself is a target,...

The new you of “You” has been unmasked, and it spells a very sticky situation for Joe (Penn Badgley). The finale of “You” Season 4, Part 1 reveals that Rhys (Ed Speleers) is the notorious Eat the Rich Killer, murdering Joe’s glamorous new associates one-by-one because he too hates their guts.
The killer reveal sets the stage for Part 2 (premiering March 9), because identifying the murderer doesn’t protect Joe or anyone else from being his next victim. No one is safe — some are in even more danger now — and the next five episodes could be a total bloodbath.
Here’s what to expect for all the major characters in “You” Season 4 after that midseason cliffhanger.
Joe
How does a group of people make up for condoning the extrajudicial execution of their homely new American friend? Joe suggests that maybe they can’t, and that his dalliance with London’s privileged elite is over.

You Season 4 picks up in the aftermath of Joe Goldberg faking his death. The last fans saw of Joe, he was living in Paris, searching for Marienne. However, season 4 takes place in London, with Joe working as a professor. Luckily the new season explained Joe’s move and how he got hired to teach.

You Season 4 Part 1 picks up with Joe Goldberg working in London as a professor under the name Jonathan Moore. Joe’s new look and career path suit him. Though he never went to college himself, Joe is incredibly well-read and smart enough to know when to let his students carry the class discussion.
He also assigns literature that is different than the “usual canonical, vaguely racist men that drink,” as his student Nadia puts it.

There is no such thing as a simple dinner party among friends when you’re dealing with the uber rich.

(Spoiler alert: The following article discusses the entirety of “You” Season 4, Part 1).
For “You” showrunner Sera Gamble, the core conceit of the thriller-drama’s subsequent seasons is ensuring fresh blood: in terms of cast members, sure, but more importantly with embarking on fresh ground.
Now in its senior season and across the pond in London, “You” Season 4, Part 1 depicts Penn Badgley’s return as the ever-sociopathic, ever-apologetic killer, rebranded as an American émigré teaching at a posh university as Professor Jonathan Moore. In a format switch, the series takes on a whodunit approach — much to Joe’s chagrin at being caught in the lowest tier of literature tropes — as the main character finds himself unwittingly embroiled with a new killer targeting an elite group of aristocratic friends, a group rife with socialites, scions and nepo babies.

Penn Badgley is done with sex onscreen.
The star of Netflix’s “You” revealed that he asked the series showrunners Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti to tone down the intimacy out of respect for his marriage to singer and doula Domino Kirke, whom he wed in 2017.
“I asked Sera Gamble, the creator of the show, ‘Can I just do no more intimacy scenes?’ This was actually a decision I made before I took the show,” Badgley said on his “Podcrushed” podcast, presented by Stitcher Studios. “I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things is, ‘Do I want to put myself back in a career path where I’m just always the romantic lead?’ It’s really important to me, fidelity in every relationship and especially my marriage, is important to me. It just got to a point where I don’t want to do that.

Actor and internet darling Penn Badgley wants to set the record straight: He’s not a nepo baby — but he is a daddy.
While he’s perhaps best known for his role of Dan Humphrey in the Og Gossip Girl, life has changed a lot since Badgley last put on a prep school costume. He’s older, he’s married, and in 2020, he became a dad of two. But in Season Four of You, Badgley returns to his preppy roots, dawning several blazers (and a new beard) as serial killer Joe Goldberg.

In the fourth season of You, Joe (Penn Badgley) finds himself on the other side of the Atlantic. After hitting a few roadblocks in seeking out his former paramour Marianne (Tati Gabrielle), Joe settles into a new life as a professor named Jonathan Moore at the stately (and fictional) Darcy College in London. He enjoys putting unexpected authors on his syllabus and watching his students engage in debate, but it’s not long before trouble finds him.
Despite his best efforts (read: minimal efforts) to not get involved in other people’s lives, Joe gets roped into a friend group composed of London’s rich and famous under 40. Initially drawn into the group by a taciturn beauty named Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and her playboy boyfriend Malcolm (Stephen Hagen), Joe quickly becomes a fixture in their inner circle. Then, people start dropping like flies.

Murder mysteries involving toxic, obscenely wealthy friend groups are all the rage right now. The fourth season of You continues this trend as Joe (Penn Badgley) finds himself enmeshed with a group of London’s insufferable elites who happen to have a mystery killer in their midst. However, Joe Goldberg is no follower. In fact, since Season 1 he’s always been lurking in the gilded shadows, fulfilling our collective desire for deadly schadenfreude involving the uber-wealthy. Given his utter disdain for the one percent, it’s odd that Joe continues to find himself surrounded by trust fund babies, tech billionaires, and Instagram influencers, but it’s always fun to hear his innermost thoughts as he takes clever digs at the excess he sees around him.
This season picks up a few months after the events of the Season 3 finale.

Jenna Ortega may be ready to outrun Ghostface again this year, but Joe Goldberg still hasn’t forgotten about her.
After Ortega starred as Ellie Alves in “You” Season 2, showrunner Sera Gamble revealed the hit series was hoping to bring the character back for Season 4. Ellie was among the few of Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) confidantes to survive his friendship, and she is referenced in Season 3 as someone Joe still stays in contact with and sends money to.
However, Ortega leading fellow Netflix series “Wednesday” had some scheduling conflicts.
“We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show,'” Gamble told IndieWire. “It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Addictive Netflix thriller You is finally back. And in Season 4, Charlotte Ritchie gets the unenviable honour of playing the latest obsession of creepy-yet-handsome, ‘I just can’t help falling in love with (and then probably killing) you’ Joe, aka Penn Badgley.
If you’re new to You, it’s the story of bookshop manager Joe Goldberg, who has a pathological tendency to develop dangerous infatuations with women, which usually end in lots of bloodshed and/or a prolonged stay in a plexiglass book vault. Most recently, he’s had a son, whom he was forced to abandon when escaping to a new life across the Atlantic after the nail-biting, catastrophic Series 3 finale.
These days, Joe goes by Professor Jonathan Moore, and is living it up in London town. Charlotte Ritchie’s character is savvy ice-queen and art gallery director Kate, part of a group of wealthy and privileged young Brits Joe gets tangled up with.

You Season 4 Part 1 is finally available on Netflix. The psychological thriller series picked up Joe Goldberg’s story in London. Joe is teaching under the name Professor Jonathan Moore. He attempts to keep a low profile while spending a lot of time with a wealthy group of socialites. The trailer teased a season full of twists and a murder mystery storyline, but the end of part 1 revealed the Eat the Rich Killer’s identity with five whole episodes of the season to go.

Netflix’s “You” is going the “Stranger Things” and “Ozark” route for Season 4, splitting the season in two batches of five episodes each. But the question is, is “You” Season 4 Part 1 compelling enough to require the split or even the wait for its conclusion? Perhaps prior to this season, the answer to that question would be a no-brainer, as the deliciously bingeable series traditionally has the audience in the palm of its hand, salivating for more of Joe’s misguided-yet-still-criminal behavior and the fate of whatever poor woman (or women) would end up being the object of his even more misguided affection.
Like the seasons before it, this season of “You” places everyone’s favorite murderous stalker Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) in a new setting. This time, he’s grown out his hair and has a beard for his new life abroad, in London, England. Joe’s got a new name,...

Oh, “You.” Netflix‘s addictive thriller series is back and, in true Joe Goldberg tradition, we are again traveling to a new destination on the run from his murderous past. Season 4 finds Penn Badgley’s killer as an ex-pat in London, hiding behind a new identity as professor Jonathan Moore. And, once again, he’s rubbing elbows with the wealthy and elite — and elitist — all of whom are being targeted by the mysterious “Eat the Rich” killer.
That means there’s a whole new batch of friends, foes and potential deadly obsessions for Joe to navigate this season, as well as an almost entirely new cast for Season 4. So if you’re wondering who plays whom, or where you’ve seen them before, here’s a handy guide.

Plot: After his previous life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg has fled to Europe to escape his “messy” past, adopt a new identity, and, of course, to pursue true love. Now, his future depends on identifying and stopping whoever’s targeting his new friend group of uber-wealthy socialites…
Review: Most series do not survive moving from one network to another, but You has thrived. After premiering on Lifetime in 2018, the Penn Badgley-led series has been a hit for Netflix, developing beyond the novels by Caroline Kepnes. It's a new city, a new name, a new life, and the same old Joe, or is it?
If ever there was a way to revamp the series, You Season 4 Episode 1 stumbled upon it with the makings of a murder mystery that places our resident killer in a position he hasn't quite been in before.
In the premiere, we eventually learn that Joe isn't the scariest and most dangerous person in the room.
Perhaps it feels a bit on the nose for the series to get Holmesian with a twist now that Joe is in London, but if anyone can catch a killer, it's probably going to be an actual killer with a few bodies under his belt.
Joe getting trolled by a killer who tried to frame him is entirely unexpected. Can you imagine if, after all the ways in which Joe has evaded capture and real consequences for his killings,...
