Stephen Colbert is taking social media throwbacks to a whole new level.
After interviewing Nick Kroll about his new show Big Mouth earlier this week, the Late Show host came up with an idea to help raise money for hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
More: Alex Rodriguez Thanks Jennifer Lopez's Ex-Husband Marc Anthony for 'Teaming' Up to Help Puerto Rico
Colbert vowed that for every awkward photo from puberty that a celebrity shares on social media, he will take $1,000 from his Ben & Jerry's AmeriCone Dream earnings and donate that to helping rebuild Puerto Rico.
"I get to determine who's a celebrity," the 53-year-old comedian quipped. "I wanna see bowl cuts, I wanna see brace faces, I wanna see a constellation of acne across your t-zone."
Since Colbert announced his pledge, a slew of stars have shared some seriously awkward images, along with the hashtags #PuberMe and #PuertoRicoRelief, including his late-night peers James Corden, Conan O'Brien and [link...

Late-night hosts took aim at President Trump on Tuesday after his administration announced plans to rescind the Obama-era program Daca (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which protects nearly 800,000 young, undocumented immigrants who were brought into the United States illegally.
There was plenty of comedic fodder for the late-night stable – including Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and James Corden – who grilled the president for pursuing yet another unpopular policy and forcing that announcement upon Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Earlier this month, when Vanilla Ice announced via Twitter that he was boldly defying instructions to evacuate his Florida home in the face of Hurricane Matthew, it not only inspired what had to be the greatest (and possibly also the most depressing) tweet ever made by the Florida Democratic Party, but it also made one hope that it might really be a sneaky promo for an upcoming Weather Channel series wherein the rapper and reality TV star goes head to head with natural disasters.

Six weeks after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, actor Wendell Pierce of The Wire, Treme and Selma, was finally able to make it back to his childhood neighborhood in Pontchartrain Park to check out the damage.
"It was a like a nuclear winter – everything was totally destroyed and covered in gray and green," Pierce, 52, who had fled with his parents shortly after arriving for a vacation, tells People. Because the subdivision was located next to the Industrial Canal, "the entire neighborhood was under 20 feet of water," he says. HBO’s “Show Me a Hero” deals with race as one of its central themes, and it’s a topic all too familiar to writer and executive producer David Simon. Simon had intended to tackle the story of Nick Wasicsko not long after finishing his seminal crime drama “The Wire,” but world events pulled him away to bring forth more timely series, including “Generation Kill” after the Iraq War and “Treme,” which tackled the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He told TheWrap that he always intended to come back, however, to “Show Me a Hero,” which feels eternally relevant. In the 1980s set six-part drama directed.

Treme Season 1, Episode 1 “Do You Know What It Means”

For many, watching a David Simon series (The Wire, Treme, Generation Kill, The Corner) is about watching the institutional failures of America. And while there’s no doubting the precision with which Simon dissects the various socio-political establishments in America, I always find myself drawn to Simon’s television work for a different reason (besides his fantastic sense of culture, layered characters, and insane dedication to realism), especially Treme. Above all, shows like The Wire and Treme are about the power of humanity, the resilience which everyday people find themselves full of hope, even while everything crumbles around them – be it buildings, communities, or entire cultures.
When it comes to things crumbling in America, Hurricane Katrina is an even more ideal petri dish for Simon’s contemplative dramatizations...

Joan Jett is set to release her first album in seven years, and it'll come with the help of Dave Grohl and Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!
"Unvarnished" debuts Oct. 1 and will mark Jett's "most autobiographical project" to date, the singer said in a statement. Songs about the death of her parents and the victims of Hurricane Sandy are among the album's subjects.
Jett will premiere the lead single, "Any Weather," during an Aug. 8 performance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," with an iTunes preorder kicking off two days prior.
"It's a real band album. Everybody was involved," the 54-year-old rocker said in her statement. The new album finds Joan Jett & the Blackhearts reteaming. It will serve at Jett's 14th studio release.
None of Jett's six most recent albums, from 1991's "Notorious" to 2006's "Sinner," managed to make waves on the U.S. album charts. "Sinner" did make a small splash on the U.

Looking back at 2012 on what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2012—in theaters or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2012 to create a unique double feature.
All the contributors were asked to write a paragraph explaining their 2012 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch in that perfect world we know doesn't exist but can keep dreaming of every time we go to the movies.

How much do we love Ryan Gosling? With "Gangster Squad" opening this Friday, let us count the ways we adore the adorably charming, slightly snarky, always well-dressed, intensely talented actor with a heart of gold who has a serious sideline in saving people in real life. (Oh, and he also sings and plays the ukulele.) 20. We knew he was a great dramatic actor, but "Crazy, Stupid Love" proved he could do comedy as well. And he kept journalists in stitches at the "Gangster Squad" junket by claiming that tight pants were the reason his voice is higher than usual in the film. 19. He's Canadian: Just one more way he keeps it real and from going "too Hollywood." 18. He has his own band, Dead Man's Bones and they're actually good. Rolling Stone described their sound as "the demon spawn of the Misfits, Bauhaus and the Zombies" and called them "ghoulishly infectious.

On the sprawling floor of the restaurant Cipriani, on Wall Street, four lanky women wearing stilettos and Shopska hats stood smiling with trays of Russian Standard Gotham Yule, a vodka mix that included Ginger Beer and lime juice. A thinly mustached manager suddenly appeared and asked the ladies not to cluster together, but to circulate the filling room. With his deep, dark eyes, thin face, and history of working with Spike Lee, James Ransone has all the makings of a perfect fit for Lee’s remake of South Korean revenge classic Oldboy, currently filming in New Orleans with Josh Brolin as a man going after his captors after being imprisoned for more than a decade. But Ransone, who replaced Nate Parker in the part of a doctor working with co-lead Elizabeth Olsen’s character, goes totally against type. He plays a good guy, different from other well-known twitchy parts he taken on, such as drunken, delinquent Ziggy on HBO’s The Wire,...

While Americans have been preoccupied with the coming presidential election, the controversy over the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, economic woes and now, the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, over in Great Britain, one of the nation's -- and the world's -- most revered media institutions is reeling over shocking allegations regarding one of its most beloved personalities.
Flamboyant disc jockey, BBC TV host ("Top of the Pops") and charity fundraiser Sir James Wilson Vincent "Jimmy" Savile, who died in Oct. 2011 at the age of 84, is at the center of an evolving scandal, as hundreds of allegations of child sex abuse are coming to light. Police are looking into claims that Savile may have sexually abused roughly 300 young people -- mostly girls and some boys -- over a 40-year period.
Complicating the situation for the BBC are reports that the taxpayer-supported network aired a Christmas tribute to Savile last year,...

Tracy Morgan has his own take on the cause of Hurricane Sandy. The "30 Rock" star stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" while the show was filming in Brooklyn and explained who he thinks is secretly behind the natural disaster.
"This storm came out of nowhere! New York ain't never had no hurricanes," Morgan tells Jimmy Kimmel in the above clip. "This got Republicans written all over it. This got Romney written all over it. This got Romney written all over it. They knew what they were doing."
Somehow we don't think any one person could have directed an entire hurricane up the East Coast to waylay voters from getting to the polls, but maybe Morgan has some intel we aren't privy to. After all, stranger things have happened: Rush Limbaugh said Sandy was Mother Nature's way of influencing the election.
Morgan continues jokingly, "We're getting close to the election. They're trying to suppress the Latino vote!

David Letterman’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night delivered the ABC late night show its biggest Wednesday audience since its debut in 2003. 2.35 million viewers watched the debut visit of the CBS Late Show host on Kimmel last night’s show. The second best Wednesday Jkl has ever had was on January 4, 2006 just after ABC’s broascast of the Rose Bowl. 2.305 million viewers watched that Wednesday. Related: David Letterman On Jimmy Kimmel: Video Broadcasting from Brooklyn yesterday, Jkl had also had its best Wednesday rating among the Adult 18-49 demographic since October 24, 2007 with 985,000 in the demo. That was the best the show was done on any night in the demo since June 19, 20102, which was during the NBA Finals that ABC was showing. Though scheduled to broadcast from NYC all week, Jimmy Kimmel Live shut down on Monday due to Hurricane Sandy hitting the East Coast. The show resumed on Tuesday.

Watching Jimmy Kimmel interview David Letterman last night was sort of like seeing a space-obsessed teenager interview Neil Armstrong in 1970. Kimmel’s vast admiration for the late night vet is no secret — he’s spoken often about how Letterman inspired him to pursue a career in television. Dave-love even drove a teenage Kimmel to get a vanity license plate that read “L8 Nite” — and to have a Late Night-themed cake at his 18th birthday party.
Put simply, Letterman is Kimmel’s idol. And accordingly, Kimmel spent most of the interview half-joking about how badly he wants to be Letterman’s best friend.

It was a late-night love fest in Brooklyn on Wednesday, as Jimmy Kimmel – broadcasting from New York City in the wake of Hurricane Sandy – realized a childhood dream of interviewing his hero, David Letterman, for the very first time.
"I'm more excited that he's here tonight than I'm able to explain," the ABC host, 44, said in introducing his CBS counterpart, whose career in late night stretches back to 1982.
Letterman, 65, who did two shows without an audience this week, returned the compliment, lauding Kimmel for being gracious despite their de facto rivalry.

Though the full extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy is still being assessed, it appears that TV production in New York is slowly starting to resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of NYC-based studios are reopening their production offices as of Wednesday, October 31, and trying to reschedule filming that had to be postponed as a result of the storm.
Sandy had a disruptive effect both behind the scenes and on-air, with a number of networks preempting new episodes in favor of repeats or news specials.
According to THR, Steiner Studios -- home of hotly anticipated midseason dramas "The Carrie Diaries" and "The Following" -- escaped the storm "unscathed," while a Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed that the studio's other dramas, including "Person of Interest," "666 Park Avenue," pilot "The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives" and midseason drama "Golden Boy," were reopening their production offices Wednesday.

Jimmy Kimmel brought his late night show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to Brooklyn, just in time for Hurricane Sandy.
"It's been some welcome," he laughed, when Access Hollywood interviewed the late night talk show host on Wednesday.
"We were, of course, disappointed that we had to cancel our first show, and then trying to do the show in the middle of all this craziness has been difficult, but I don't know -- it brings people together to, I guess, stand in line outside Trader Joe's trying to get hummus," Jimmy joked.

Throughout Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, most people have gone out of their way to not politicize the storm, and focus on relief efforts.
Tracy Morgan is not most people.
"This storm came out of nowhere! New York never had no hurricanes," the "30 Rock" star told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night. "This got Republicans written all over it. This has Romney written all over it."
His suspicion? That Romney is controlling the weather to keep Democrats from voting.
"They're trying to suppress the Latino vote!" he joked. "But they have a lot of hurricanes in Puerto Rico. There ain't no Latinos afraid of hurricanes."
Before joking about the hurricane, Morgan swapped stories with Howard Stern about their shared love of their pet sharks.
"30 Rock" is airing on Wednesday this week instead of its normal Thursday time.

Jimmy Kimmel was delighted to welcome his first guest for his week of Brooklyn "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" shows on Tuesday, Howard Stern.
Stern was a big get for Kimmel, as Kimmel got his start in radio, the medium that Stern dominates. But as soon as Stern walked out, he playfully chided Kimmel for doing his shows during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
"I was hoping you'd cancel," Stern joked. "The whole week, you hear Jimmy carrying on about his girlfriend David Letterman." (The "Late Show" host, whom Kimmel has long spoken of as an idol, is tomorrow night's guest.)
Although Kimmel reluctantly canceled Monday's show due to Sandy, the rest of the week is scheduled to go as planned. Kimmel shows in Brooklyn, which is his hometown, are being filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Jimmy Kimmel was finally able to tape his show in Brooklyn Tuesday after having to cancel Monday's episode because of Hurricane Sandy. He took advantage of his homecoming to visit the neighborhood where he grew up. Kimmel, who moves to Las Vegas with his family when he was nine, reunited with a childhood pal and confronted the former neighborhood bully. He also talked about a dramatic run-in with bees. (From the clear skies, it appears the video was shot before the storm hit New York Monday.) Kimmel had the bad luck to...

File this under scary irony: According to the Los Angeles Times, Russell Crowe's Noah's Ark movie, "Noah," may be impacted by Hurricane Sandy when it tears through New York on Monday evening.
As previously reported, a massive replica of Noah's ark was built for "Noah" in Oyster Bay, New York. The city, located on the North Shore of Long Island, has already experienced wind gusts of nearly 70 miles per hour, per the Los Angeles Times. However, while the ark may sustain some damage, it might not be a big deal for the film: As the Times notes, Noah's ark was "partially dismantled" in recent days and isn't expected to factor heavily in the remaining production days.
For his part, director Darren Aronofsky didn't seem too concerned. The director took to Twitter to note that he was using the work stoppage forced by Hurricane Sandy to catch up on some recent films.
