Tna Wrestling have announced that they have extended the contract of Josh Alexander, as first reported by Sports Illustrated. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Alexander is one of the most accomplished, decorated wrestlers in Tna history, a star in singles and tag team action. Alexander made his pro wrestling debut in 2005 and has been a star on the Tna roster since early 2019. Just consider:
He is a 2-time former World Tag Team Champion as half of The North, the longest-reigning World Tag Team Champions in company history (380 days).
He was the Tna X-Division Champion in 2021, holding the prestigious title for 151 days before invoking Option C and vacating the championship in exchange for an opportunity to wrestle for the World Championship. He is a two-time former Tna World Champion, with his second reign being the longest reign in company history (335 days).

“‘Loudmouth’ tells the story about how and why I had to be loud to call out the racism in a northern city like New York, where you were competing with the bright lights of Broadway,” Rev. Sharpton said in a statement. “In this crucial year, when we are fighting for racial justice in the voting booth and in the streets, I hope this film will inspire the next generation of Loudmouths to get off the sidelines.”

Josh Alexander has become the Longest-Reigning Impact Wrestling World Champion of All-Time. He claimed the title on April 23rd 2022, at the Rebellion pay-per-view, defeating Moose. He has now been the World Champion for 257 consecutive days, surpassing Bobby Roode’s 256-day World Championship run that started on October 26th 2011.

He even endured a serious neck injury along the way that required two vertebrae be fused together. Alexander, 35, made his pro wrestling debut in 2005 and was signed by Impact in early-2019. He has been the Impact X Division Champion and is a two-time Impact World Tag Team Champion as The North, a team that also was record-setting.

From its triumphant world premiere (with seven-minute standing ovation) at the Venice Film Festival, A24 opens Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale in theaters this weekend amid a whirl of Oscar buzz around star Brendan Fraser. The former action star carries the psychological drama as Charlie, a reclusive and severely obese English teacher trying to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter.
Deadline critic Damon Wise said Fraser’s “all-in performance… makes adjectives such as ‘brave’ and ‘fearless’ seem almost meaningless” and that The Whale is “cutting the line to put a never-better Brendan Fraser at the front of the Best Actor race.” See full review.
It opens on six screens total in NYC and LA and plans to hold there next week, expanding in a limited national footprint on Dec. 21 for the holidays.

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed (Neon)
Laura Poitras (an Oscar winner for 2014’s Citizenfour) directs this portrait of renowned photographer Nan Goldin, one that offers intimate access to her suburban upbringing and experiences living among marginalized communities and artistic scenes in New York City. This review originally ran June 19, 2022, in conjunction with the film’s world premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
Introducing “Loudmouth” at the Tribeca Festival, Robert De Niro referred to the film’s subject, lifelong racial justice activist Rev. Al Sharpton, as “so soft-spoken and so reasonable.” The audience at the closing-night screening, many of them the Rev’s personal guests, laughed.
But De Niro, a friend of Rev. Sharpton, seemed to mean the sentiment genuinely, showing the severe divide between the Rev. Sharpton of the 1980s, an unapologetic practitioner of civil disobedience who was staunchly critical of whites as a class, and today’s Rev. Sharpton, an old-school liberal who has his own show on MSNBC.
“Loudmouth,” directed by Josh Alexander (“Prescription Thugs”), chronicles that evolution, although it leaves most of the pushback against Rev. Sharpton to archival footage rather than challenging the legend head-on.

Chicago – The Reverend Al Sharpton has been a “Loudmouth” … as the new documentary on his life and work is called … virtually all his life. His outspoken activism began a year after Dr. King was killed, when Sharpton became Youth Director of Operation Breadbasket at age 15, and continues to today, especially around the killing of George Floyd. Rev. Al Sharpton appeared on the Red Carpet at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival.
Sharpton appeared at the 58th Chicago International Film Fest on behalf of “Loudmouth” – directed by Josh Alexander – which cuts through the clichés and assumptions surrounding the track-suit-wearing crusader to investigate the roots of his political engagement and his transformation into a media-savvy activist. Playing into the tabloid journalism of the Jerry Springers and Phil Donahues of his heyday, Sharpton effectively raised awareness about the systemic injustice, racism, and white supremacy that has persisted in America. As he once famously declared,...

Exclusive: Greenwich Entertainment is going big on Loudmouth. The company has acquired North American rights to the documentary about the Rev. Al Sharpton, and plans a December 9 theatrical release for the film just as Oscar shortlist voting rolls around.
The film directed by Josh Alexander held its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, examining an activist, commentator and occasional political candidate who has been a major part of American life for almost 40 years.
“Sharpton has been a polarizing figure, inspiring both love and hate on local and national stages,” a release for the film stated. “Chronicling his work for social change from the streets of 1980s Brooklyn to 2020s Minneapolis, Loudmouth presents never-before-seen footage of the social justice titan on the frontlines, in the media as well as in the corridors of power, to paint an intimate and revealing portrait of a tireless warrior who has never...
