Florals for spring? How original. A legendary trio reuniting onstage to present a 2024 Screen Actors Guild Award? Instantly iconic.
“The Devil Wears Prada” co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, who is SAG Award and Oscar nominated for her supporting role in “Oppenheimer,” joined together 18 years after the 2006 film to present the award for Male Actor in a Comedy at the 2024 SAG Awards. The awards ceremony streamed live on Netflix Saturday, February 24.
Streep took the stage in a Prada dress to present the first award of the night, but comically stumbled when she reached the microphone.
“Two things,” Streep said. “I forgot my glasses, clearly. And the envelope.”
Those problems were quickly rectified when her former onscreen assistants Blunt and Hathaway joined her on stage. Blunt brought the envelope containing the winner (Jeremy Allen White for “The Bear”), while Hathaway brought Streep’s glasses. Fans of the movie might...

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Meryl Streep playing the iconic Miranda Priestly in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada.
However, producer Wendy Finerman recently said on the Hollywood Gold podcast that the Oscar-winning actress was nearly passed over for the role since someone working in the production thought “she has never been funny a day in her life.”
“And Meryl, people thought we were crazy, Finerman told host Daniela Taplin Lundberg. “I mean, I had people call me up and say, ‘Are you out of your mind? She’s never been funny a day in her life.'”
“She has been funny and they were wrong,” the producer added, to which Lundberg referenced Streep’s comical roles in films such as She-Devil and Death Becomes Her.

Every generation gets the aspirational workplace it deserves. In 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” helped establish the archetype of an imperious, intimidating woman who rules her chic urban office with an iron fist; with its obvious Anna Wintour analog, the book-turned-film also doubled as a bookend to the era of the print magazine editor’s omnipotence. Eight years later, Sophia Amoruso coined the term “Girlboss,” a cutesy moniker that soon got a Netflix adaptation to match. Latter-day examples have updated the template to keep pace with the times: “Younger” took place in the wake of the Great Recession, when securing a dream job requires some deceit, while “The Bold Type” was proudly progressive — think 2010s Cosmo, not mid-aughts Vogue. In these stories, actual employment is less secure, but the employer acts less like a dictator than a stern, if nurturing, mentor.

Meryl Streep literally transformed into Miranda Priestley for “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Streep’s co-star Emily Blunt, whose quippy comedic turn in the film marked her breakout role, revealed that Streep was “miserable” staying in character for the beloved 2006 film during a conversation with Brian Cox for Variety’s Actors on Actors. Streep starred as an Anna Wintour-inspired fashion magazine editor who constantly abuses her employees in her quest for perfection.
“She’s amazing and was slightly terrifying on that film,” Blunt said of Streep. “She said it was one of the first times she’s tried Method acting. But it made her so miserable, playing Miranda.”
Oscar winner Streep previously admitted that it was “horrible” to isolate herself from her co-stars on set while in character as Miranda.
“I was [miserable] in my trailer,” Streep recalled in 2021. “I could hear them all rocking and laughing. I was so depressed!

The Devil may wear Prada, but Andy Sachs is still riding solo.
“The Devil Wears Prada” screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna revealed that if the film were to have a follow-up, Anne Hathaway’s iconic character Andy Sachs would “definitely not” still be dating Adrian Grenier’s unsupportive chef Nate.
“Andy and Nate are definitely not together,” Brosh McKenna told Variety. “That much I can tell you.”

The premise was simple enough: A no-nonsense, non-conformist, feminine “guy’s girl” journalist sets out to make a man fall in love with her — all for the sake of a big break at work. When “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” hit theaters on February 7, 2003, the Kate Hudson- and Matthew McConaughey-starring romantic comedy ushered in a new generation of a revived rom-com sub-genre: quippy romances all about female journalists.

Anne Hathaway has us pursing our lips like Miranda Priestly after a recent "Watch What Happens Live" interview with Andy Cohen about the true villain of "The Devil Wears Prada": Andy Sachs's boyfriend, Nate Cooper (Adrian Grenier). Seasoned fans of the cult classic film will know that no ounce of Miranda's icy personality and - some might even say admirable - candor hold a candle to Nate's egocentric attitude. But Hathaway slapped the 5 grilled cheese right out of our hands when she revealed she disagrees that Nate is the villain all along.
"I wouldn't want to be defined by my worst moment in my 20s, certainly. So I don't hold Nate as a villain, actually."
"No, I'm sorry. I don't [think he was the villain]," she said when two fans called in to ask her opinion of Andy's boyfriend. "I think that they were both very young and figuring things out,...
Anne Hathaway isn’t holding any grudges against her character’s love interest in “The Devil Wears Prada”.
The actress, who starred as Northwestern journalism grad Andy Sachs, shared whether or not she believes Nate (Adrian Grenier) was the true villain of the Oscar-nominated film while appearing on Monday night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live”.
Before Hathaway, 39, could answer the fan question, host Andy Cohen chimed in shouting, “Yes! He was!,” to which the actress joked, “Andy’s answered for me.” She then went on to share that she disagrees with Cohen.

Anne Hathaway's latest style moment is actually groundbreaking. While attending the Michael Kors spring/summer 2023 show on Sept. 14 during New York Fashion Week, the actress channeled her iconic Devil Wears Prada character, Andy Sachs, in the most stylish ensemble. Before eyeing the new collection, Anne turned heads wearing a chic black turtleneck dress that she paired with a chocolate brown croc-embossed coat. Matching pointed-toe pumps and a clutch completed her overall look. That's not all, though. The 39-year-old brought back her famous sleek ponytail and fringe bangs, a hairstyle she rocked in throughout the 2006 hit movie. What really sealed the...

The Elton John-Shaina Taub stage musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which recently ended a five-week engagement in Chicago, is “not ready” for subsequent stagings, John said today, seeming to end speculation that a Broadway or West End production was in the immediate offing.
“Devil Wears Prada was in preview in Chicago, and it’s not ready,” John said in an interview with BBC Radio2’s Zoe Ball, who asked if the show was coming to London. “It’ll be ready in about another year. We can’t get our theater anyways.”
In the meantime, the rock icon will focus on Tammy Faye, the musical he co-wrote with Jake Schears that opens this fall at London’s Almeida Theater.
Although John didn’t go into detail about what, exactly, isn’t working with Prada – he phoned into the radio show to plug his “Hold Me Closer” single with Britney Spears...
