Founded by Maxwell Gaines in 1944, the Entertaining Comics brand (a.k.a. EC Comics) initially specialized in educational comics and stories aimed at children. But after Gaines died in a boating accident in ’47, his 25-year-old son William took control of the company and changed its direction, exploring the genres of horror, sci-fi, and satire while bringing us classic titles like Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear, Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, and Mad. Sadly, EC Comics was at its peak when parents started to worry about the negative effects reading comic books could have on their children, leading to things like a Congressional hearing that blamed comic books for juvenile delinquency – a claim that was backed up by the book Seduction of the Innocent, written by psychiatrist Fredric Wertham. So by 1956, EC Comics ceased publishing all of their titles except for Mad. Those classic EC...

The impact of EC Comics cannot be understated, having inspired countless horror creators, including George A. Romero, Stephen King, and many, many more. After nearly 70 years since the last comic book from EC, as first reported by the NY Times, Oni Press has partnered with William M. Gaines Agent, Inc. to introduce new EC Comics! Starting this summer, Epitaphs From The Abyss #1 and Cruel Universe #1 will kick off brand-new stories from some of today's best comic book writers, and we have all the details:

In the early 1950s, EC Comics was the bad boy of comic publishers. Its comics such as Tales From the Crypt, Weird Science and Two-Fisted Tales sold millions in mid-century America. Unfortunately, its stories — at times shocking, horrifying, and even progressive — also drew scrutiny and backlash, and the company found itself in the cross hairs of censorship and regulation at the height of the McCarthy era. The company ultimately shuttered, with the last comic hitting newsstands and drug stores in 1956.
Now, seventy years after the creation of the self-regulatory body Comics Code Authority, the infamous comics company is blasting out of the crypt and returning with a brand new line of comics.
Oni Press, the publisher perhaps best known for the breakout indie hit Scott Pilgrim, has partnered with William M. Gaines Agent, Inc., the rights holders of the EC line, to launch all-new stories with A-list comics creators beginning this summer.

After a small delay, Diablo 4‘s Season 2 update is finally here. Whether the update is enough to bring a legion of lapsed fans back to the game is a question that will hopefully be answered in the coming days and weeks. What I can tell you is that the update introduces a number of necessary changes to the game that affect each of Diablo 4‘s five character classes in various ways.
Before we dive into where all of those classes stand at the moment, please note that these rankings are broken down into “Leveling” and “Endgame” sections. As before, “Leveling” accounts for Levels 1-50, whereas “Endgame” is focused on Levels 51-100. For what it’s worth, though, the 1-50 leveling process is significantly faster than it’s ever been in Diablo 4‘s Season 2 update. That being the case, you may put slightly less stock into each class’ power level during...

While picking a class is a vital part of most role-playing games, Baldur’s Gate 3 takes that classic genre concept to a new level. Well, to be more accurate, it really just taps into the tabletop depth of the class concept, but by doing so, it makes picking a class as difficult as it has ever been. As such, it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that many fans are debating over (or simply wondering about) which Baldur’s Gate 3 class is the best.
As you probably already guessed, the best class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the one you think you will enjoy playing the most. Bg 3 is a remarkably well-balanced game that is designed to incorporate a wide variety of playstyles. That said, I do think it is possible to offer not just an opinion on which class is best (obviously) but a fairly reasonable take on that...

Assembling the right party is an important part of the Baldur’s Gate 3 experience. Indeed, the moment you realize you can only roll out with three companions at any given time is the moment you’ll realize how valuable the right team can be.
However, like so many other aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3, assembling the optimal party is as much about your preferences and the situation before you as it is about the game’s raw mechanics. You can make just about any combination of classes work in this game, though most of the best combinations will follow the basic “Tank, Healer, Melee Dps, Ranged Dps” setup.
Of course, since Baldur’s Gate 3 plays with traditional role-playing…err…roles in rather interesting ways, you don’t necessarily have to follow that tried and true formula to make it through the game. To give you a better idea of what is possible,...

Your choice of class matters in most RPGs, but Baldur’s Gate 3 makes that choice as important as it has ever been. While there’s no such thing as picking the “wrong” class in Baldur’s Gate 3 (as long as they’re the right class for you), certain classes obviously have notable advantages and disadvantages. Well, there are a few areas of the game where those advantages and disadvantages are more obvious than when you’re thrust into combat.
If it is possible to do a pure pacifist run in Baldur’s Gate 3, then nobody has discovered how to do it yet. You will have to fight something at some point. When that happens, you may discover that Baldur’s Gate 3‘s combat can be quite unforgiving. As such, it’s a good idea to have a rough understanding of which classes are more capable in combat than others.
Before we dive into that topic,...

Diablo 4‘s Server Slam weekend offers one more chance to try the game’s “beta” before the game launches in June. Since this will be the game’s third early access period so far, we actually have a pretty good idea about how the game’s classes stack up against each other and which should be the most powerful during the Server Slam period.
So while we’ll have to update these rankings ahead of the game’s proper release, here’s a look at where every class in the game stands ahead of this final beta weekend.
Barbarian – A Straightforward Powerhouse That is Perfect for Beginners
Anyone vaguely familiar with previous Diablo games (and most RPGs for that matter) should know what to expect from Diablo 4’s Barbarian class. If not, then just know that Barbarians are mighty melee powerhouses who rely on multiple massive weapons to carve their way through waves of foes.

The Diablo 4 team just unveiled a series of changes designed to address player feedback from the recent beta. While many of the changes are significant, some of the most notable changes affect Diablo 4‘s worst class: the Barbarian.
The Barbarian looked promising in the early days of the Diablo 4 beta. It was a very beginner-friendly class that offered a simple melee playstyle, a lot of defensive tools, and a ton of stats. In Diablo 4′s opening stages, the Barbarian felt like one of your best overall class choices.
As you played more of the game, though, you probably realized Barbarians suffer from some pretty significant deficiencies. Most notably, their slow movement speeds and struggles with quickly closing gaps made many boss fights more difficult than they should be. Boss fights often left Barbarians stuck in damage zones with woefully ineffective ways to deal significant damage to single targets. Speccing your...

The Flash is currently in the midst of its ninth and final season, but the series finale is quickly approaching. While speaking with TVLine, The Flash star Grant Gustin answered fan questions, including if he was happy with where Barry Allen ends up at the end of the series.
Grant Gustin replied that he was, but shared that he always imagined the series ending with Barry’s death. “When I thought about [The Flash] ending, there was a theory out there that Barry would sacrifice himself to keep the Speed Force alive and become the lightning bolt that inevitably struck him [in the pilot] and create this full circle moment, which I thought was really cool,” Gustin said. “I kinda always wanted him to die a hero’s death in a way, and Eric [Wallace] was very opposed to the idea, and we really wanted to see a happy ending for Barry and Iris.

What a tumultuous time it is to be a fan of DC TV and movies. Aside from the fact that the Dceu was a mass of chaotic energy almost from the word go, there’s also been the ongoing confusion about the multiversal aspects: the multiple Batmen and Jokers, the fact that the TV shows have nothing to do with the movies, the fact that entire movies simply ceased to exist and were banished to limbo after they had already wrapped, never to be seen by mortal eyes.
And then there have been the rumors (so many rumors), the false starts, and the closing of longstanding movie and TV legacies as new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran begin to lay out their own new vision for their Dcu of the future.
Despite all of that, 2023 is a veritable bounty of riches for fans of DC movies and TV shows.
