Harry Potter has officially turned 20 and Muggle celebrities everywhere are taking to Twitter in celebration.

Trance family from all corners of the globe reunited at Dreamstate SoCal the weekend of November 25th, 2016. Just like the year before, the all-trance festival organized by Insomniac Events made for something of a phenomenon – albeit for somewhat different reasons this time around.
That’s not to say any of the core components were missing. All of the hallmarks established in the greater Dreamstate brand’s inauguration last year returned, from both editions’ borderline utopian crowd energy to their expertly curated entertainment rosters. In recent years the SoCal trance scene had practically been sentenced to obscurity while other subsets of the electronic music industry reached unprecedented peaks, but the second installment of Dreamstate’s flagship event once again provided just the experience the genre’s more tenured enthusiasts have longed for.
If this year was any indicator, though, the trance family’s youngest generation may be turning to the dark side.

Update: The full list has been revealed and can be seen below.
Original Post: With the Amsterdam Dance Event now underway, it’s time for the DJ Mag Top 100 to be revealed. As much of a joke as the list has become lately, we all still look forward to it each and every year and though it doesn’t hold too much legitimacy in the eyes of true dance music fans, it’s always interesting to see who ends up coming out on top.
Leaks and rumors have pointed to Martin Garrix emerging as #1 for 2016, something which would certainly make sense given the huge year he’s had. Not to mention he’s also been releasing new tracks left, right and centre this week. With the awards show now streaming live from the Heineken Music Hall, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we figure out whether or not...

His rep tells us the popular DJ 100% did not compose the tweet, and points out the cyber attackers hit Paul on other fronts too. Hackers also got into his website,...

In case there was any shadow of a doubt that Dreamstate SoCal was a success, Insomniac Events has released a 2016 lineup that more than proves otherwise. Last year marked the inaugural edition of the all-trance festival, and this year’s roster consists of more than three times as many acts.
SoCal trance family will delight in the return of 2015 favorites such as Paul van Dyk, John O’Callaghan, Ace Ventura and Giuseppe Ottaviana – the latter of whom will perform alongside fellow “pure trance” advocate Solarstone as Pure Nrg. MaRLo, Vini Vici and John Askew are among Dreamstate SoCal’s 2016 additions, as well as Infected Mushroom, who will perform a special psytrance set.
Once again, Dreamstate SoCal will grace the Nos Event Center in San Bernardino, California on November 25th and 26th. For the spectacle that it was last year, the festival’s organizers will surely allow photos of staging and...

Andrew Rayel has quickly become one of the strongest assets of Armin van Buuren’s record label, Armada. The Moldovan trance superstar is a staple of the festival circuit whose tracks have received support from the likes of Markus Schulz, Dash Berlin and Tiësto.
However, a recent incident demonstrated that perhaps those sentiments aren’t universal throughout the trance community. When news surfaced that due to Paul Van Dyk’s hospitalization Rayel would fill in for him at the Dreamstate stage of Beyond Wonderland, pure trance elitists took to social media to voice their doubts that he would be a good fit for the brand.
When we spoke to him during Miami Music Week, Rayel was gracious enough to give us his thoughts on the situation. In addition, he revealed tidbits about his new album, as well as a track he plans to debut during his Ultra Music Festival performance.

At long last, DJ Mag has unveiled their top 100 DJs list of 2015. While this year’s results made for a predictable, cross section of the mainstream Edm talent pool’s most accomplished echelon, perhaps nothing spoke to the state of the scene as much as the #1 entry.
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike secured the #1 spot for the first time in their career, all but proving that contemporary dance music is more manufactured than it’s ever been at any point throughout its history. The two artists are famous for enlisting the services of ghostwriters like Maarten Vorwerk to assist in their productions, and engaged in notoriously aggressive marketing campaigns to drum up votes.
More than ever, the results simply prove that the rankings are more for which artists have the biggest marketing budgets than anything else.

Dreamstate has been a hot topic among trance enthusiasts for months now. Insomniac Events announced the first edition of their all-trance festival back in June, and even before it has yet to take place in November they’ve already announced a Bay Area version for sometime in early 2016.
Without context this might seem a bit exuberant – but while it hasn’t occurred yet, Dreamstate has, in all the ways that matter, already proven a successful brand. Tickets sold out within hours, leaving innumerable trance fans in the lurch. Insomniac Events Co-Founder Pasquale Rotella took to social media to tell them to look out for another announcement before revealing that an additional Dreamstate would take place in San Fransisco early next year.

Ultra has announced its Asot (A State of Trance) lineup today and it looks like trance fans are in for a real treat. Armin van Buuren will be hosting a stage at the festival this year, on the Sunday, and he’s bringing with him some of trance’s most exciting acts. Though not as big a lineup as some of the other Asot celebrations that have been taking place recently, the group that Armin has assembled is still very impressive.
From Armada mainstay Andrew Rayel and the old reliables like Paul Van Dyk and Makus Schulz, to new additions like Andrew Bayer and Eric Prydz (who, despite his inclusion here, has promised fans that he’ll be playing his usual progressive tunes), trance fans need not worry about being under-represented at Ultra this year, as there’s certainly going to be enough of their favorite music to go around.

You might think that with T In The Park and Glastonbury out of the way, and the Rolling Stones put back on ice for a while that the festival season is just about over, but you’d be completely wrong. And while the sun has still just about got his hat on, there is plenty of musical goodness still to come in 2013, starting in just a short couple of weeks, thanks to the essential festivals that are still yet to come.
So, if you’re considering taking advantage of the atypically good weather, or you just want to fill your ears with some Biffy Clyro, Elton John, Beyonce or Kings Of Leon, there are ample opportunities for festival veterans and newbies alike to pack their babywipes and wellies and head off to a festival that could be the best experience of the year.

With a new expanded two-weekend format, a massive new main stage structure, and a big 15th anniversary to celebrate, it was obvious Ultra Music Festival would be going big for 2013.
Instead, it went massive. The just-released Phase 2 lineup reveals Ultra will host its most diverse and thorough lineup yet this March in Miami's Bayfront Park: crowd faves like Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, and Dirty South are back, but the lineup also includes a slew of live acts including Snoop Dogg and Sleigh Bells.
"What we've achieved with this edition's ocean of talent and stage production is we feel unprecedented," said Ultra founder, CEO and president Russell Faibisch. "As the industry we work in continues to explode, with so much talent emerging and the taste of our consumer changing in the process, diversity was key."

Organizers call the event "the world's leading dance music festival." The festival said on its web site Sunday morning that the event location in Daresbury in Cheshire, England had been closed. The Grammy-nominated producer, who has remixed songs for stars including Justin Timberlake, Depeche Mode and Britney Spears, said he wouldn't be interested in working with the Material Girl. Saturday wasn’t just about Swedish House Mafia and Skrillex at Tomorrowland Festival. Porter Robinson smashed Paul van Dyk’s stage.
Pendulum and Goldie brought the hard bass to Star Warz’ frenzy. And not enough can be said of Laidback Luke’s staggering cast at Super You & Me – Zedd, Sunnery & Ryan, Swanky Tunes and Congorock were among the performers. Oh, and Luke, Chuckie and Martin Solveig did a joint set ... as Superman, Spiderman and Batman, which was rather awesome.
