Rebecca Jarvis had been co-anchor of CBS This Morning Saturday and covered financial and economic news, and before that spent three years at CNBC during the financial crisis. Her interview subjects have included former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, Warren Buffett, Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg. Economix
By Michael Goodwin and Dan E. Burr
304 pages, $19.95, Abrams ComicArts

The problem, though, is that the world makes it far more complicated to determine how those goods are made or what a reasonable profit might be. Thankfully Michael Goodwin saw the need for a basic primary on how the economy currently works and how we got here. Better, he decided to really make it easy to follow thanks to using the comic format, hence the graphic novel Economix. Nicely illustrated by Dan E. Burr, best known for Kings in Disguise, the book from Abrams starts off...

Barney Frank went head to head with CNBC reporter Maria Bartiromo on July 26, 2012. Frank defended the Volcker Act to a dubious Bartiromo: "Maria, if you want to have a serious conversation without mocking me ..." The Volcker act is part of the Dodd.Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was authored by American economist and former United States Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker to restrict United States banks from making certain kinds of speculative investments. Volcker's reasning was that this sort of speculative activity played a key role in the financial crisis of 2007.2010 that is still being felt. Barney Frank argued with bartiromo over this and other points, and blew up when she...

Last week I wrote about four major magazine articles evaluating Barack Obama's success and future prospects as president. The four pieces divided mainly in how they assessed Obama’s strategic acumen. Sullivan...
