Maynard James Keenan has been celebrating his 60th birthday all month with two of his bands — A Perfect Circle and Puscifer — along with Primus on the “Sessanta” tour. On Saturday night (April 20th) at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, fans were treated to all three of Keenan’s bands when Tool gave a surprise performance toward the end of the concert.
The tour usually has a no-video policy until the last song of the night, which is Puscifer’s “Grand Canyon,” but Keenan said from the stage that he would permit filming of the next song because he had “picked up some strays” to join him onstage. At that point, Tool’s Danny Carey, Adam Jones, and Justin Chancellor walked out to the delight of the fans.

Keenan joked, “Danny’s up there, like, ‘You call this a fuckin’ drum set! Where’s the rest of it?...

The Armed have released a new album called Perfect Saviors. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
As the self-described “World’s Greatest Band,” it’s not surprising that The Armed would have some pretty strong words to say about the environment that inspired their next album. “Too much information has made us dumb and confused,” singer Tony Wolski offered in a statement. “Too many ways to connect have inadvertently led to isolation. And too much expectation has forced everyone to become a celebrity. Predictable primal dangers have given way to newer social ones. And the result is a world that is confounding and terrifying — but ultimately still beautiful. We hope this record is exactly all of that, too. Perfect Saviors is our completely unironic, sincere effort to create the biggest, greatest rock album of the 21st century.”

Queens of the Stone Age have reunited with frequent collaborator Liam Lynch for a new music video for In Times New Roman… cut “Negative Space.” Check out the visual below.
“Negative Space” fuses the Queens of the Stone Age of past and present; Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen play the unique blend of scratchy and slide guitars that made them hard rock titans back in the early aughts, but Michael Shuman hammers out a bass line more akin to the band’s recent experiments in funk.
Lynch described his inspiration for the “Negative Space” clip in a statement. “Acceptance is lonely, messy, and tough, especially when it’s all that is left,” he said. “This video takes place between the end and a beginning. It’s the desperate and lost, message-in-a-bottle emotions that are tossed out and let float away. No action required.”

Earlier this week, Jane’s Addiction quietly debuted their first new song in 10 years, “True Love,” at the end of a show in Bakersfield, California, on Sunday, March 5.
The song is a psych-tinged ballad that builds to an understated peak, with frontman Perry Farrell’s voice reverberating against twinkling guitars, splashy cymbals, and a pensive baseline. Dave Navarro has some bad news to share with fans looking forward to seeing him on tour with Jane’s Addiction this fall.
A few months back, Perry Farrell and Billy Corgan made a joint appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” to announce their respective bands would be teaming up to hit the road for a joint Smashing Pumpkins-Jane’s Addiction tour.
However, Navarro won’t be participating in the tour, and he took to Twitter this week to reveal that he’s still suffering the aftereffects of Covid-19, nearly a year after being infected.

The New York Times reports that Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme made a now-not-so-secret album, slated to drop March 18, and are prepping their first round of promotional shows. Titled Post Pop Depression, the nine-track project was put together independently in a total of three weeks, with the help of Dean Fertita, from Qotsa; Matt Helders, from Arctic Monkeys; and other still-unnamed musicians. Judging by the tone of the Times story, Ppd might serve as a kind of coda (or beginning of a coda) to Iggy's already-lengthy career. "What happens after your years of service?" Iggy told the Times, when asked about the record's theme. "And where is the honor?" A brief tour with the new material and band (which will add the likes of Troy Van Leeuwen, from Qotsa, and Matt Sweeney, from Chavez) will take place in March as well, at a set...
