The actor arrived in Sydney on Saturday with his wife Debbie Lee-Furness and daughter Ava ahead of his upcoming show, Broadway to Oz—a production that tells the story of Jackman's life from the outback of Australia to mega Hollywood...

Production company Jungleboys has teamed up with the ABC to create a charming and familiar comedy series, A Moody Christmas, writes Georgina Pearson.
The plot for ABC comedy drama A Moody Christmas treads a familiar path: London-based son returns home to Australia for family Christmas: chaos ensues. An ode to the Aussie festive season, it spins the story of one dysfunctional family’s attempt at forced civility with a twist – each episode of the six-part series is set on Christmas Day, one year apart.
Created by production company Jungleboys, A Moody Christmas airs at the end of a soft year for ABC comedy with little memorable fare to deliver laughs in 2012. The format of the series, the brainchild of Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, creators of Review with Miles Barlow, has the potential to finish the year with a chuckle.

The series is “about growing up quickly, and about realising that your parents are not heroes, but dopes with no idea what’s going on – just like you,” according to the ABC.
Debbie Lee, ABC head of comedy, said: “We’re so happy to be bringing Josh’s world to ABC TV in what promises to be such a funny and surprising series.

For: Jess Harris, co-creator, writer and star of ABC2’s comedy series Twentysomething
Josh Schmidt (Twentysomething co-creator) and I wanted to get into the industry but we didn’t really know the gap between having an idea and making it a job. We knew about community station Channel 31 because our friend, Ryan Shelton, had done a show on 31 called Radio Karate. We decided to make a series about being in your twenties, struggling and not really knowing what you’re doing with your life.
It took us about two years to finish the six episodes and we didn’t get in contact with Channel 31 until the very end. We called them up and said, “we’ve got six episodes here of a show we would love to air on your channel”. We had to pay an airing fee so we got Rmitv, Rmit University’s media production group, to help...

The ABC’s latest political satire, At Home With Julia, wraps today. The series, which invites Australians into The Lodge and life of Prime Minister Gillard (Amanda Bishop) and her partner Tim Mathieson (Phil Lloyd) is set to air on ABC1 on Wednesday 7 September, 9.30pm.
The 4×30 minute series finds the Prime Minister and Mathieson struggling with alone time as they get harrassed by Bob Katter, live in fear of terrorist attacks and receive unsolicited advice from Paul Keating.
In a statement, Executive Producer/co-writer Rick Kalowski said, “We can’t believe the quality of the cast we got. Or how little we were able to pay them.”
With a cast of sketch and stage comedians, the production is set to spoof Kevin Rudd (Paul McCarthy), Paul Keating and Tony Jones (both played by Jonathon Biggins), Wayne Swan (Alan Dukes) Tony Abbott (Nicholas Cassim), Bob Katter (Drew Forsythe), and Rob Oakeshott...

The third series of The Librarians is bigger than its predecessors. Miguel Gonzalez visited the Melbourne set of the cult ABC comedy.
Most of the time, the Melbourne Showgrounds are an exhibition and functions venue, but occasionally, they are also the home of the Middleton Interactive Learning Centre and her manager, head librarian Frances O’Brien. ABC TV’s comedy The Librarians – launched in 2007 – was originally shot at an old car dealership in Melbourne, but people kept trying to come in thinking it was a real library. Taking advantage of the fire that destroyed the original library in the first series, the show moved during its second season to building 13 at the Showgrounds, a much more private and spacious location.
Gristmill’s Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope – wearing their writing, producing and acting hats as Frances and her husband Terry – pitched the ABC their idea for a third series just...
