He loved cricket and helped run a team in Surrey, called the
Magpies.
He was one of the original hosts of the UK children's TV show Magpie (1968), which was created in 1968 by Thames Television to compete with the BBC's Blue Peter (1958). After leaving the show in 1972, he became a TV producer.
