Cinema is full of classic stories, retold year after year in the traditional manner or reimagined by the daring ones. Whether it's adaptations of literary masterpieces, biopics, or other attempts to turn established archetypes on their heads, a spirit of rebellion is essential.
For lovers of the flair of Jane Austen's novels, Bridgerton is a real feast. London's high society and debutante balls all seem like a refuge for humble young ladies with dreams of marriage. In fact, just like in Austen's novels, revolutionaries still roam England during the Regency era.
In the Netflix series, this honorable role goes primarily to Eloise Bridgerton, the fifth child of the family, who never lets go of books and despises patriarchal foundations.
Claudia Jessie Shares Her Thoughts on a Queer Love Story for Eloise
We have yet to see Eloise's love story, as fans hope in season five – right after Benedict's.

Season 10 of Southern Charm is nearly wrapping up; very little about it is still known.
The season should be iconic, right? With 10 seasons of a show, there should be plenty of drama and a supreme cast.
However, we know that Olivia Flowers won’t be back, and it seems Salley Carson is swooping in to replace her.
Instagram account Queens of Bravo dropped some tea about what they know to be true for Season 10 of Southern Charm.
While some of it wasn’t really “tea,” they revealed tension between Craig Conover and Austen Kroll. It’s reportedly due to Paie DeSorbo, which is interesting.
There was allegedly a meltdown from Craig over the weekend that could have something to do with the tension and the girlfriend.
Craig Conover responds to refute, then deletes comment
Interestingly enough, Craig Conover commented on the Queens of Bravo post but deleted the comment within hours.

Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed on “Hot Ones” that a rumor about Bill Clinton sleeping through a screening of “Emma” at the White House is true. The 1996 Jane Austen adaptation was directed by Douglas McGrath and featured Paltrow in the title role. She earned critical acclaim for the performance, which continued her hot streak as one of the most recognizable actors of the 1990s indie film boom.
“Is it true that Bill Clinton passed out asleep during a White House screening of ‘Emma’?” host Sean Evans asked Paltrow.
“True!” Paltrow answered. “He was snoring right in front of me. I was like, ‘Wow, I guess this is going to be a real hit movie.’ But it was! So fuck you, Bill Clinton!
“Emma” was a box office success with nearly $40 million worldwide on a production budget under $8 million. The film picked up two Academy Award nominations, one for costume design and another for original score.

What would movies be about if not for love? Since well before the days of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in “Casablanca,” romance has driven countless classic stories, setting up some of the highest highs in cinematic history to follow. Be it Cary Grant and Grace Kelly seeing stars in “To Catch a Thief” or Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal disturbing diner patrons in “When Harry Met Sally,” the 20th century was chock full of iconic romances that helped humanity fall in love with the movies. Of course, those titles were dominated by white artists telling largely heteronormative tales — meaning many (but not all) of the best and most inclusive romances have arrived this millennium.
Now, the best romance movies of the 21st century both resonate and surprise, showing audiences characters they might recognize from their own lives in new and surprising ways. Yes, finding “the one” is exceedingly well-frequented thematic territory,...

Has Southern Charm been renewed for Season 10 by Bravo? It had quite an explosive Season 9 reunion with the cast making some big revelations. Plus, everyone seems to be in a nice place in their lives but there is always room for disaster. Read on for more details.
Southern Charm Renewed For Season 10?
Season 9 of Southern Charm had its good and bad moments as most of the year revolved around one mistake. Taylor Ann Green and Austen Kroll hid the fact that they kissed one night. Of course, viewers and their co-stars believed they did more but they maintained it was just a kiss. Unfortunately, it destroyed Taylor’s friendship with Austen’s ex, Olivia Flowers. Austen also went head-to-head with Taylor’s cheating ex and his best friend, Shep Rose. This was the crux of the whole season along with Craig Conover trying to make a life with his girlfriend,...

Hallmark Channel is capping off a month of original films themed around Jane Austen’s works with the premiere of a new feature-length adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. The classic story about whether young women should choose husbands based on romantic notions of love or practicality has been adapted for both television and film several times before. Many fans may remember either the 1995 film adaptation directed by Ang Lee or the 2008 BBC and PBS television miniseries starring Dominic Cooper and Charity Wakefield.
This Sense and Sensibility stands out from the other recent period adaptations of Austen’s works, however, as it’s produced by Hallmark’s Mahogany brand, which is devoted to producing original films and series with Black screenwriters, actors, directors, and other creatives. Unlike Netflix’s 2022 Persuasion adaptation, which used the controversial strategy of “color-blind casting,” Hallmark’s Sense and Sensibility deliberately sought out Black actors for principal and supporting roles.

Hallmark‘s Loveuary salute to the works of Jane Austen continues this week with what may be one of the network’s biggest swings: a straight-forward, PBS-caliber retelling of Sense and Sensibility. It’s not a cheeky update about a big-city exec looking for love on the countryside. There are no Tyler Hynes cameos. No inside jokes. Just the displaced Dashwood siblings surrounded by high-end production values, top-tier period costumes and hair, stunning locations and a clear adoration for that Regency Era energy. In fact, the only new here is that the cast is primarily Black. And this long-overdue approach to reimagining Austen’s 1811 tale was “the perfect solution” for Hallmark Media’s SVP of Development, Toni Judkins when she set out to define Hallmark Channel’s Mahogany brand. Hallmark Media “When they announced that the Mahogany initiative was going to come to fruition, I had a little window where...

Love & Jane by David Weaver hints towards the escapist nature of literature, and I do not mean this as a bad thing. Escapism, as I believe it to be, is an innate facet of our human nature. A manifestation of our self-preservationist instincts, ‘escapism,’ despite the negative connotations people attach to it, has been the very reason why art came into the picture. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I do think that the escapist nature of mankind is what more or less birthed creativity. Perhaps David Weaver tried to address the character’s escapist nature in Love & Jane. Jane Austen’s works are considered quite intellectual today, but back in the hyper-conservative British Regency era, they served as an escape for women, hinting at equal rights for women and satirizing the patriarchal status quo. While not inherently a feminist, Jane’s work did walk the line between realism and escapism,...

Southern Charm Season 9 was filled with ups and downs, with the biggest storyline featuring the quadrangle of Shep Rose, Taylor Ann Green, Olivia Flowers, and Austen Kroll.
It seemed to overtake the entire season at every turn, which also happened during the two-part reunion.
Shep had a tough season, especially after everything between Taylor Ann and Austen. They had broken up after Season 8 wrapped, and she was still angry with him during the Season 8 reunion and when Season 9 began filming.
While he didn’t necessarily show it throughout the season, it was brought to light during the reunion that Shep had some heartbreak over the sleepover at Austen’s house, where Taylor was hanging out.
Andy Cohen asked Shep to lead the toast as they closed the reunion, and surprisingly, he dished out some wisdom (even if he was wearing his tin foil hat).

Rodrigo Reyes joined the cast of Southern Charm in Season 9 and his participation gave Latinos visibility on the Bravo reality series for the first time in the show’s history.
Although Reyes seemed to appear out of nowhere to viewers, he has been running in the Southern Charm circles for years.
“I am happy to be a part of it. I’ve known everyone for so long, so it’s been comfortable to slide into reality TV,” Reyes told us.
Coming into the Bravoverse was easy for Reyes as he tells us he was already close to Shep Rose and Austen Kroll.
“When I first moved into Charleston, Shep was one of my first friends that I made well before the show because we met through mutual friends,” he adds. “I met Austen because he’s really good friends with some of my closest friends. Charleston is very small and if you live downtown,...

No prizes for guessing who she picks. Hathaway, in no particular order, smiles, trembles and pouts. Not to worry: her lapse in concentration was a one-off.

Craig Conover and Shep Rose shared nothing but praise for their former Southern Charm co-star, Kathryn Dennis, at BravoCon 2023.
