MacGowan’s wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, confirmed his passing on Thursday (November 30th). “the love of my life and the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything that I hold dear has gone to be with Jesus and Mary and his beautiful mother Therese,” she wrote in a social media post. “I am blessed beyond words to have met him and to have loved him and to have been so endlessly and unconditionally loved by him and to have had so many years of life and love and joy and fun and laughter and so many adventures.”

Back in 2016, Lionsgate gave the green light to a third Now You See Me film — before the second one had even hit theaters. Now that the sequel is out (and seven years old), the production company is finally moving forward with Now You See Me 3.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake announced the news during an investors call this week. He also confirmed that Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer was onboard to helm the project.
Drake described the forthcoming installment as a “reimagining” of the first two films, with production set to begin next spring.
The first Now You See Me, released in 2013, starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, and Morgan Freeman. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film centered on a group of justice seeking, bank robbing magicians being followed by the FBI. Jon M. Chu helmed the sequel, which arrived three years later.

Raffaella has shared “Rowan,” a personal new look at her upcoming EP Live, Raff, Love (Act II). Check it out below.
Accompanied by little more than a synthesizer, Raffaella speaks up for the first time about an abuser she encountered when she was 14. “I never told my sisters ’bout you/ But you’re starting to feel like an infected tattoo,” she sings.
Our former CoSign shed light on the powerful new single in a statement. “Rowan was a small person who made a big dent in my adolescence. As with most horrible people, he cared mainly about his reputation, so I named the song after him,” Raffaella said.
“But this song isn’t for him, it’s not even really about him… it’s not an admission of spite or an attempt to ruin his life or anything like that — I don’t care enough about that person to want those things.

Rage Against the Machine were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday.
Guitarist Tom Morello accepted the award on the band’s behalf. “I am deeply grateful for the musical chemistry I’ve had the good fortune to share with Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford, and Zach de la Rocha. Like most bands, we have differing perspectives on a lot of things, including being inducted into the Rock Hall. My perspective is tonight is the great opportunity to celebrate the music and the mission of the band, to celebrate with the fifth member of the band: Rage Against the Machine’s incredible fans. The best way to celebrate this music is for you to carry on that mission and that message.”

To kick off the show, Rodrigo joined Crow for a performance of “It Makes You Happy.” Nicks then appeared with Crow for “Strong Enough” and “Everyday Is a Winding Road,” the latter of which also featured Frampton on guitar.
Actress Laura Dern introduced Crow prior to a video montage featuring testimonials from Rodrigo, Nicks, and Maren Morris. “She mapped out the chapters of our lives and has continued to be a multi-generational muse for everything we feel, always discovering a newness to reflect on in herself and in us,” Dern proclaimed. “With success came massive sales, numerous awards. But Sheryl, she makes art because she has to. For her, success has never been measured outside herself.”

In a statement released ahead of tonight’s ceremony, Bush said he was “completely blown away by this huge honour – an award that sits in the big beating heart of the American music industry.”
“Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. I never imagined I would be given this wonderful accolade,” Bush continued. “Last year was such a surprisingly successful time for my track ‘Running Up That Hill’ and I’m sure that a lot of you who’ve voted me in to the Rrhof also drove that track up the charts. Featuring nine new songs, Evolution was produced by Mike Elizondo. The record comes as a bit of a surprise after Crow said 2019’s Threads would likely be her final album as she turned her attention to sharing standalone singles.
“Everything is more song oriented now with streaming, and making an album is a huge endeavor,” Crow explained in a new statement. “I started sending just a couple of demos to Mike, but the songs just kept flowing out of me and it was pretty obvious this was going to be an album.” She added, “This music and these lyrics came from sitting in the quiet and writing from a deep soul place. Olivia Rodrigo has shared “Can’t Catch Me Now,” her contribution to the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Check it out below.
Opening with a lone acoustic guitar, “Can’t Catch Me Now” blossoms into an arrangement clad with silky strings and rich harmonies, but the real star of the show is Rodrigo’s vocal performance. The first portion of the tune gives her a platform to deliver some appropriately Hunger Games-esque lyrics, like “But I’m in the trees, I’m in the breeze/ My footsteps on the ground/ You’ll see my face in every place/ But you can’t catch me now.”
Then, the energy picks up a bit, as Rodrigo belts “You can’t, you can’t catch me now” over cinematic orchestral padding. After reaching a grand climax, the tone drops down again, and she closes out the...

Megan Thee Stallion is back with a new single called “Cobra.” Watch its music video below.
Megan’s released a couple of songs since last year’s Traumazine — namely, her second Cardi B collab “Bongos” and the Dicks: The Musical soundtrack song “Out Alpha the Alpha” — but “Cobra” marks her first standalone solo release since the 2022 LP.
“Cobra” also marks the first release from Megan on her own music and entertainment entity, Hot Girl Productions, following the settlement of her years-long legal battle with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. In light of that — and some of her other publicized traumas — the theme of the single feels appropriate.
“Cobras exemplify courage and self-reliance,” Megan explained in an Instagram post. “They stand tall and fierce in the face of challenges, teaching one to tap into their inner strength and rely on oneself to conquer their threats. Emulating the cobra helps one...

From Patrick Bateman to Tyler Durden, Men’s Rights Activists, incels, and other misogynistic men have a tendency to idolize fictional characters that are meant to be cautionary tales. David Fincher — who brought Durden to the big screen with Fight Club — is as baffled by it as you and me.
Starring Edward Norton as the disaffected Narrator and Brad Pitt as Durden, Fight Club — Fincher’s 1999 adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s 1996 novel of the same name — tackled the same middle class ennui as Office Space, but took its characters’ frustrations to much more violent ends. Steve Rose of The Guardian asked Fincher about the film’s negative impact in a new interview, but Fincher was quick to avoid taking any personal responsibility for the rise of incel culture.

Mgmt have finally confirmed their next album. Titled Loss of Life, the band’s fifth full-length arrives on February 23rd via Mom + Pop. In anticipation, the first single, “Mother Nature,” is out now.
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser co-produced Loss of Life along with Patrick Wimberly, while their longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann handled mixing. Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), Brian Burton (Danger Mouse), and James Richardson provide additional production on “Dancing in Babylon” — which includes the first-ever feature on an Mgmt record, thanks to Christine and the Queens. Finally, Miles A. Robinson served as associate producer and engineer on the LP.
With acoustic guitar and relaxed vocals, “Mother Nature” feels a lot more grounded than the psychedelic singles that made Mgmt famous over a decade ago. In a statement, the duo said the song “outlines the archetypical Mgmt mythology of one hero attempting to get the other hero to come...

Lizzo has filed a motion to dismiss a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her by three of her former dancers, calling the accusations a “fabricated sob story” created by “opportunists” seeking “a quick payday.”
The motion was written by Martin Singer, an attorney known for his ruthless defense of celebrities like Chris Brown, Bill Cosby, and Johnny Depp. “Plaintiffs embarked on a press tour, vilifying defendants and pushing their fabricated sob story in the courts and in the media. That ends today,” Singer wrote. “Instead of taking any accountability for their own actions, plaintiffs filed this lawsuit against defendants out of spite and in pursuit of media attention, public sympathy and a quick payday with minimal effort.”
Lizzo has already denied the allegations — which include sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, and racial and disability discrimination — arguing that plaintiffs Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez were fired due to...

The Gaslight Anthem are back with their first album in nearly a decade, History Books, out today, October 27th on their own Rich Mahogany Recordings via Thirty Tigers.
“None of us wanted to make a very somber or serious record showing how much we’ve matured,” singer Brian Fallon said in a statement about their follow-up to 2014’s Get Hurt. “We’ve all changed and grown and learned so much, but the overall mood was a feeling of excitement to be back together and making music that means something to us.”
In an interview with The Associated Press, Fallon explained how the title track — which features Bruce Springsteen — came together. After calling on Springsteen — who over the years became the artist’s friend, not just idol — for advice about potentially reuniting The Gaslight Anthem, the legend himself proposed a duet. “We didn’t want to make a record that felt sub-heart,...

Taylor Swift is taking us back to 1989. Today brings the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), a newly re-recorded version of her beloved 2014 album. Stream it below, and read our analysis of the album here.
Widely considered to be Swift’s first pure pop album, one could easily point to 1989 as the album that made Taylor the omnipresent, record-breaking star she is today. In addition to updated recordings of those classics, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) features the Vault tracks “Slut!”, “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” and “Is It Over Now?,” as well as a sixth previously unreleased song called “Sweeter Than Fiction” that’s only available through Target. Duran Duran are getting into the Halloween spirit with Danse Macabre, a witchy new album featuring a mix of new songs and covers of classics by Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, and more. Check it out below via Apple Music or Spotify.
The new wave legends’ 16th studio album was inspired by a “crazy” Halloween show Duran Duran put on last year. Rather than going full “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” however, Danse Macabre doesn’t take itself too seriously. “It’s supposed to be fun!” singer Simon Le Bon explained in a statement.
That said, original compositions like its title track — which we named Song of the Week — coexist alongside covers of Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend,” Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” and The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black.” The project also features some special guests, including former guitarist Andy Taylor and legendary artist Nile Rodgers on the song “Black Moonlight.

Buffy Sainte-Marie has released a statement defending her Indigenous heritage, a move that appears to be in response to upcoming documentary that is expected to raise questions about the subject.

Olivia Rodrigo appeared as a guest on Tuesday’s nights episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she sat down for an interview and performed “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” from her latest album, Guts. However, prior to visiting the studio she caught a ride with Kimmel and his family as they drove to school.
Kimmel and his wife Molly surprised their children, Jane and Billy, by stopping to pick up a hitchhiker, who just so happened to be the 20-year-old pop singer. Rodrigo squeezed in the middle seat and led the kids in singing some backseat karaoke. Nine-year-old Jane Kimmel seemed particularly overwhelmed by the experience.
Meanwhile, during an interview with their dad, Rodrigo discussed how her family is dealing with her rise to fame and shared a funny anecdote about how her mom unintentionally implied that her daughter was a stripper. She also spoke about how she toned some of the lyrics to Guts,...

HBO has readied a documentary about David Holmes, the stuntman who stood in for Daniel Radcliffe in almost all of the Harry Potter films before he was paralyzed on the set of Deathly Hallows Part 1. The film, entitled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, premieres on HBO and Max November 15th. Update: Watch the trailer below.
Holmes, described as a “prodigious teenage gymnast from Essex, England,” worked as Radcliffe’s stunt double from 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone until 2010’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, when he broke his neck while performing a stunt and became paralyzed from the chest down. Directed by Dan Hartley, the documentary tells his story with behind-the-scenes material from Holmes’ stunt career, personal footage from the past decade, and interviews with friends, family, and crew members. Radcliffe is among those featured in the film and also serves as an executive producer.

Richard Roundtree, who became known as “the first Black action hero” for his portrayal of detective John Shaft in five films, has died at the age of 81 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
“Richard’s work and career served as a turning point for African American leading men in film,” Roundtree’s manager Patrick McMinn said in his statement confirming the actor’s death. “The impact he had on the industry cannot be overstated.”
Shaft followed the exploits of African American detective John Shaft. While the original screenplay called for Shaft to be white, director Gordon Parks opted to cast Roundtree, then just 28 years old, to play the titular character. The first Shaft film was released in 1971 on a budget of just $500,000. It went on to earn $12 million at the box office, and four sequel films followed.

The revelations in Britney Spears’ new memoir keep coming. In the latest excerpt from The Woman in Me to go viral, the pop star looked back on her time hanging out with old flame Justin Timberlake and his band *Nsync, who Spears believed “tried too hard” to fit in with Black artists back in the early aughts.
*Nsync, of course, blew up as hip-hop was at the beginning of its decades-long reign at the top of the music industry, which is presumably why Spears writes that Timberlake and co. were eager to pal around with rappers. “*Nsync was what people back then called ‘so pimp,'” the singer writes in her memoir. “They were white boys, but they loved hip hop. To me, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group.”
Spears continues, “*Nync hung out with Black artists.

Green Day have unveiled a new song called “The American Dream Is Killing Me.” It serves as the first single off the band’s upcoming album, Saviors, which is set for release on January 19th, 2024.
As you might expect, the band’s new single gives Billie Joe Armstrong the opportunity to air out his political frustrations — to the tune of a pop punk melody, of course. “Send out an Sos/ It’s getting serious/ Bulldoze your family home/ Now it’s a condo,” he sings, over a back-and-forth riff. Despite its pop structure, it’s a pretty brutal singalong: “Kiss me, I’m dead inside,” Armstrong quips. “Who needs suicide?”
Saviors follows the band’s 2020 LP Father of All Motherfuckers. The new album was recorded in London and Los Angeles with Rob Cavallo, who previously produced albums including Dookie and American Idiot.

Future Islands have readied their seventh studio album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore. The full project arrives January 26th, while new single “The Tower” is out now.
The follow-up to 2020’s As Long as You Are, People Who Aren’t There Anymore was produced by Future Islands alongside Steve Wright, while Wright mixed the project with Chris Coady. It arrives on CD, cassette, standard black vinyl, transparent vinyl, and yellow and black “yolk” vinyl that features alternative artwork. Pre-orders are ongoing.
New track “The Tower” begins with almost understated synths before building to the type of shimmering chorus Future Islands are known for. “Threw a bottle across the water/ To someone who’s thinking of me,” Samuel Herring sings. In its brooding music video, directed by Johnathan Van Tulleken, he does just that, as he and bandmates William Cashion, Gerrit Welmers, and Michael Lowry walk across a deserted beach.

When it comes to acting, you can’t expect Robert De Niro to fake anything. That’s why Leonardo DiCaprio wore butt padding to handle being spanked by De Niro in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto revealed to Insider.
In Scorsese’s latest, DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart is paddled by De Niro’s William Hale as punishment for throwing a wrench in the duo’s plans to rob the Osage nation. Though the film is based on a book of the same name, the scene is unique to the screen adaptation — and one Prieto said was a late addition to the project.
“I don’t think that was in the first script,” Prieto revealed. “That was something that was added, and it’s shocking in the film.”
The cinematographer continued, “I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt.

Tom Petty’s estate is celebrating what would have been his 73rd birthday by sharing some previously unreleased demos from the artist. Listen to tracks from Petty’s Wildflowers and Mojo eras below.
Mojo (Extra Mojo Edition) reissues Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 2010 blues album with two new songs: “Help Me” and “Mystery of Love.” The former begins with a classic, “Green Onions”-esque guitar line, as Petty drawls, “You gotta help me, babe/ I can’t do it all by myself.” “Mystery of Love” picks up the pace a bit, opting for more of a classic rock ‘n’ roll sound complete with horns and piano. Its an interesting look at a new side of the band, which famously tried out subgenres like Southern rock and new wave over the years. According to Petty, Mojo was “where the band lives when it’s playing for itself.”

The Rolling Stones are back with Hackney Diamonds, their first new album of original material in 18 years. Listen to the project below via Apple Music or Spotify.
Produced by Andrew Watt, Hackney Diamonds was recorded across studios in Los Angeles, London, Bahamas, and New York City. Hackney Diamonds also features the Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder-featuring Song of the Week “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” as well as contributions from late drummer Charlie Watts, former bassist Bill Wyman, and Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

Blink-182 have officially released One More Time…, the first album to feature Tom DeLonge alongside Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker in over a decade. Check it out below via Apple Music and Spotify.
DeLonge left Blink in 2014, as the band was preparing to record the follow-up to their 2011 album Neighborhoods. Hoppus and Barker released two albums, California and Nine, with the singer-guitarist’s replacement, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. The pop-punk veterans announced the return of DeLonge last year with the single “Edging,” then recorded One More Time… during their reunion tour. Given their history, it makes sense that the group said the record covers “themes of tragedy, triumph, and most importantly, brotherhood.”
Produced by Barker, One More Time… also features the singles “More Than You Know,” “Dance with Me,” and “Fell in Love,” as well as its title track.

Burt Young, the actor best known for playing Paulie in Rocky, died October 8th in Los Angeles, his daughter confirmed to The New York Times. He was 83 years old.
From Roman Polanski’s Chinatown to The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight, Young — born on April 30th, 1940 in Queens — was known for imbuing fierce characters with a sense of humanity and realism. He entered the Marines as a teenager, and started boxing while in the service. He went on to pursue the sport professionally before, by happenstance, meeting the celebrated acting teacher Lee Strasberg, who he later studied with.
Young broke out as an actor thanks to Rocky, where he played the best friend of Sylvester Stallone’s titular boxer. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including a nod to Young for Best Supporting Actor.

David Solomon has stepped back from his DJing gig, leaving him with only the meager job title of Goldman Sachs CEO.
Solomon, who was named chief executive of the investment bank in 2018, has performed at a handful of high profile corporate events over the years, donating proceeds from the shows to charities combatting addiction. However, those appearances didn’t go over well with Goldman traders, the Financial Times reports.
Solomon has appeared at Amazon events, Super Bowl parties, and even last year’s Lollapalooza. According to sources familiar with the matter, however, insiders were uneasy with his decision to spin records at the 2019 Belgian music festival Tomorrowland, which is known for heavy drug use. The following year, he apologized to the board for appearing at a Chainsmokers concert at the Hamptons, which violated social distancing protocols at the height of the pandemic and earned promoters a $20,000 fine.

Cocteau Twins have announced vinyl reissues of their final two albums, 1993’s Four-Calendar Café and 1996’s Milk & Kisses. The fresh pressings are out January 12th via 4Ad.
With 24-bit remasters by guitarist Robin Guthrie, the reissues mark the first time both Four-Calendar Café and Milk & Kisses have been released on vinyl in the United States. It also reunites Cocteau Twins with 4Ad after the band left the storied London label for Capitol Records for US distribution in 1988.
Recorded at Cocteau Twins’ September Sound studio in West London, Four-Calendar Café was a departure for the band — in that you could actually sort of understand what Elizabeth Fraser was singing. The record spawned two moderate hits, “Evangeline” and “Bluebeard.”

Car Seat Headrest have announced a new live album called Faces from the Masquerade. It’s out in full December 8th, and today, the band has shared a live video of their Twin Fantasy favorite “Bodys.”
A 14-track double album, Faces from the Masquerade compiles recordings from Car Seat Headrest’s three-night stand at Brooklyn Steel in 2022. Its name draws on two relevant aspects of the residency: Will Toledo and company asked attendees to mask up in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, but also encouraged fans to “accoutre yourself in whatever further costumery you please,” just as the singer did in his go-to hazmat suit and gas mask.
Not every live album feels that necessary, especially when a band sticks to the version of their music cut to record in the studio. For Csh, however, the project makes sense: the band have long performed newly arranged versions of their songs,...

Idles have announced their fifth studio album, Tangk. The LP is out February 16th via Partisan Records, and as a preview, they’ve shared “Dancer,” the lead single that features LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Nancy Whang on background vocals. Check it out below.
Idles drew from a wide swath of influences in making Tangk. The record was produced by the band’s guitarist Mark Bowen, as well as Radiohead’s go-to boardsman Nigel Godrich and Denzel Curry/Vince Staples collaborator Kenny Beats. A press release describes the project as more love-oriented than the post-punks’ previous efforts, which often dealt in political commentary.
“Tangk,” singer Joe Talbot said in a statement. “I needed love. So I made it. I gave love out to the world and it feels like magic. This is our album of gratitude and power. All love songs. All is love.”

Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock sings lead on “We Got to Move,” the latest single from Lol Tolhurst, Budgie, and Jacknife Lee’s upcoming collaborative album Los Angeles. Check it out below.
“We Got to Move” begins with a cacophony of strings and percussion before beginning in earnest as an über-sycnopated synth rock song. “It’s not a parade, it’s just another fine day/ Come on and pick up the pace/ We’re so glad that you stayed,” Brock sings, before repeating the track’s urgent title. In the music video, Tolhurst and Budgie — the iconic former drummers of The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees, respectively — bang on trash cans as guest star Fred Armisen, apparently the most connected musician-turned-comedian of all time, goes to town in a rage room.
The drummers have enlisted a ton of great artists for their upcoming album with producer Jacknife Lee, including...

A24 has unveiled the ominous first trailer for The Zone of Interest, Jonathan Glazer’s new picture about Rudolf Höss, the commandant of Auschwitz. Watch the clip below.
Written and directed by Glazer based on the novel by Martin Amis, The Zone of Interest doesn’t portray the horrors of the Holocaust outright. Instead, it focuses on the reality of the era: that human beings committed those atrocities, and all the while, they were building families of their own. As such, the film centers on Höss (Christian Friedel) — the SS officer who introduced Zyklon B into gas chambers — and his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller), who “strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp.” The film was shot on location in Poland and Germany from 2021 to 2022.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much outside of that description. We see vignettes of the...

Feist stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday to perform “Hiding Out In the Open,” a cut from her new album Multitudes. Watch her appearance on the show below.
Taking over the late night stage with a four-piece backing band, Feist sounded just as good — if not better — than the studio recording of “Hiding Out In the Open,” an acoustic ballad that attempts to navigate the baggage that’s brought into a romantic relationship: “Maybe he’s gonna let me down/ Love is not a thing you try to do/ It wants to be the thing compelling you,” goes some of the track’s standout lines. Although the stage backdrop emulated the seemingly-infinite images of the Multitudes album cover, the one real Feist was the true focus. Check it out below.

Adam Green will be honored with a new tribute album, dubbed Moping in Style, that features renditions of his solo music from artists including Regina Spektor, Father John Misty, and Jenny Lewis. The project arrives in full December 1st, and as a preview, Org Music and Capitane Records have shared Sean Ono Lennon’s cover of “That Fucking Feeling.”
Best known as one-half of The Moldy Peaches, Green has released 11 solo albums over the past twenty years. The impressive roster on Moping in Style speaks to his influence in the indie rock community: in addition to those aforementioned artists, it boasts The Lemon Twigs, Frankie Cosmos, Lou Barlow, The Lemonheads, The Libertines, and Ben Kweller among its contributors. Pre-orders for the tribute album, which arrives on double LP gatefold and CD, are ongoing.
Ono Lennon completely transforms the title track to Green’s most recent album. While the original, thanks...

Paul McCartney confirmed what we all knew about The Beatles on a recent episode of his McCartney: A Life in Lyrics podcast: Yoko Ono’s presence during the band’s recording sessions didn’t exactly make for a pleasant work environment.
McCartney dug into the making of Let It Be, The Beatles’ 1970 final album. As he put it, the band members’ relationships were already strained, and those tensions rose thanks to an “inseparable” John and Yoko.
“So things like Yoko being in the middle, literally in the middle of the recording session, was something you had to deal with,” McCartney said. “And the idea was if John wanted this to happen, then it should happen. There’s no reason why not.”
At this point in the podcast, the artist’s cohost, Paul Muldoon, replied, “Well, except that there is a reason why not. You’re there to do some work,...

Death Grips are the latest act to fall victim to crowds who can’t behave themselves. The experimental hip-hop group ended a recent set in Fayetteville, Arkansas early after audience members continuously pelted them with glow sticks.
According to NME, fans threw objects at the band several times throughout the show, and Mc Ride left the stage and came back more than once before ultimately abandoning the gig for real. The trio was 25 songs into their reportedly 29-song set when they ended the performance.
As a Reddit user who attended the show recounted, “Someone threw a phone at them and Ride threw the mic on the ground and walked off and back. Someone threw a glowstick that hit him in the chest and he walked off, back and waiting for more. Another glowstick was thrown and they left. Fair is fair.” Watch fan-shot footage of the incident below.

Piper Laurie, the actor known for portraying Carrie’s unstable, evangelical mother and Packard Sawmill head Catherine Martell in Twin Peaks, has died at age 91. Her manager confirmed the news to CNN, but did not provide a cause of death.
Born Rosetta Jacobs on January 22nd, 1932, the young actor changed her name to Piper Laurie after signing to Universal Studios at age 17. She experienced early success in the Golden Age of Hollywood: she portrayed Ronald Reagan’s daughter in Louisa (and even engaged in a brief romance with the soon-to-be president), and worked alongside Donald O’Connor, Tony Curtis, and Rory Calhoun in Francis Goes to the Races, Son of Ali Baba, and Ain’t Misbehavin’, respectively.
Though she could count those names on her resume, Laurie felt unfulfilled by the roles she was given. She bristled at Hollywood’s one-dimensional depictions of women. “Every role I played was the same girl,...

Brittany Howard has readied her second solo album, What Now. Along with the news, she’s shared the record’s title track, and announced a new run of tour dates for 2024.
What Now marks Howard’s first release on Island Records, which she signed to back in September. There’s no release date for the project as of yet, but based on its title track’s lyrics (“I’ve been making plans that don’t include you anymore/ My heart wants to stay but I don’t know what for”), the record signifies a time of transition.
“‘What Now’ is maybe the truest and bluest of all the songs,” Howard said of the single. “It’s never my design to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I needed to say what was on my mind without editing myself. I like how it’s a song that makes you want to dance,...

Jamila Woods has shared her new album, Water Made Us, via Jagjaguwar. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The title of Water Made Us references Toni Morrison, who once said, “All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.” The album maintains Woods’ interest in Black feminism, but, as a result of being written in the midst of quarantine, is more self-reflective than her past works.
“Water Made Us feels like the most personal and vulnerable piece of art I’ve ever made. I love creating from source material, diving deep into a subject and extrapolating from what I discover,” Woods said in a statement. “We sat in the house for two years and I became my own source material. Shout out to the therapists, the astrologers, the family members and friends who listened, who helped me process and transform...
