Today, Dark Horse announce from Emerald City Comic Con a new creator-owned work from a concept by Joe Lansdale (Batman Tas) and written by Mark Miller for an October release date: Steam Man. It’s a crazy wild-west premise with some beautiful art by Piotr Kolwaski that blends multiple genres. The Old West (but not as we know it): […]...

I’m turning 30 in a few days. And you know, if I can be serious for a moment, this column right here that you’re reading? It feels like the most important thing I’ve ever done. Not because it has had an impact on sales, because I’m sure it hasn’t. What it has done is motivate me. Most of my creative endeavours are received with little fanfare and that’s fine but when life comes along and gets in the way of that work, I yield to more important things. But what’s happened with Comic Execution is that creators have been responding to my criticism and praise in very honest and human ways and that kind of recognition has pushed it to the top of my list of priorities, because I want to better understand how and why creators do what they do.

Twenty five years after they essentially threw it away, Clive Barker's cult fantasy horror tale "Nightbreed" is getting a new lease on life.
Not only is the much anticipated and restored director's cut of the film hitting Blu-ray this Halloween, but now the company has announced they are actively developing a TV series based on the work.
Barker helmed the ambitious 1990 film about a troubled young man (Craig Sheffer) framed by his serial killing psychiatrist (David Cronenberg). He seeks refuge in an abandoned cemetery which leads to the mythical Midian, a place where a variety of monsters are hiding from humanity.
That film however was drastically cut with three-quarters of an hour excised from Barker's original version. Much of Barker's cut lived on though in the bootleg 'Cabal Cut' which helped grow the film's fan base.
Barker first began talking about a new TV version of the property two years ago,...

Clive Barker's fantasy-horror Nightbreed is being adapted for a TV series.
The show will be based on the writer's 1988 novel Cabal and his subsequent 1990 film Nightbreed - itself based on Cabal. It will be made by film studio Morgan Creek, which previously rejected the idea of a TV series.
The story follows a young man named Boone, who has a mental disorder. He is led to believe that he is a serial killer, though has no recollection of the murders. He finds sanctuary in Midian, among a tribe of monsters and outcasts known as the Nightbreed.
Morgan Creek's Michael Plumides revealed that he has written four episodes for the show, overseen by Barker and Seraphim Films' Mark Miller.
"We're staying true to the source material, but also modernising the concepts to appeal to this millennium's viewer," he told Empire.
"We think the fans will be very pleased. By incorporating great writing,...

Nightbreed is back in a big way with a brand new comic book series and a director’s cut version of the movie headed to Blu-ray and DVD in October. However, not all fans may be aware of a TV series that has been in development and we’ve received an update from Michael Plumides on the current status of the Nightbreed TV series:
“We’ve been actively developing the Nightbreed TV series at Morgan Creek with Clive Barker for two years. We hope the newly restored Director’s Cut will help us illustrate how wildly popular the series could be to potential buyers. I recently penned four episodes including the pilot, with material all approved by Clive and Mark Miller at Seraphim Films. We have also been developing new Nightbreed creature concepts and I’ve been collaborating with Tate Steinsiek (SyFy’s Face Off) for some months now, to...

Iggy Azalea paid tribute to cult teen classic Clueless in her recent music video for 'Fancy'.
The Australian rapper appears as Alicia Silverstone's iconic character Cher in the video, which was released online last week.
As stars continue to be inspired by the movie almost 20 years on, we take a fond look back at the cast and what they went on to do after Clueless:
Alicia Silverstone (Cher Horowitz)
Alicia Silverstone played seemingly shallow socialite Cher - famously branded "a virgin who can't drive" and "hymenally challenged" - in the high-school adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma.
Prior to Clueless, Silverstone's credits included ABC comedy-drama The Wonder Years and a number of Aerosmith videos. The film propelled her to further fame, and she went on to star in Joel Schumacher's 1997 movie Batman & Robin, crime-comedy Excess Baggage (1997) with Benicio Del Toro and Christopher Walken, and romantic drama Blast from the Past (1999) opposite Brendan Fraser.

One of the real exciting announcements to come out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con is the fact that Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut (review) is finally making its way to video. Michael Plumides is a filmmaker who was instrumental in making this happen.
Plumides recently sat down with Dread Central and talked about his experiences helping Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut finally see the light of day.
Dread Central: What was your role in this venture?
Michael Plumides: Well, I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Although I've lived in Georgia and South Carolina I was born and raised here. And though my 4808 Club was shut down by the city after the infamous Gwar show of 1990, I still consider this my home - even if they tried to run me out on a rail. I wrote a book about it entitled, Kill the Music that someday I hoped to turn into a film.
