Before I get into my reviews I want to talk about the recent news regarding Wolverines return from the dead. After his appearance on Legacy #1 it has been confirmed that the original 616 continuity Wolverine will be back with us very soon. The road to his return starts in January 2018. He will appear in a series of ‘post credit scenes’ in key titles Captain America #697, Mighty Thor #703 and Amazing Spider-Man #794. Now I am a Wolverine completest but I can say right now I will not be buying these three issues or any other issues with Wolverine ‘post credit scenes’. Call me old fashioned but one of the premier X-Men should return in an X book or one of the two Wolverine titles. Of course after these ‘post credit’ appearances that could still happen and I hope we get a larger story involving his return in the two Wolverine titles or mini.

Another live-action adaptation of an anime & manga series is coming to the big screen. Aside from Ghost in the Shell, Japan is developing a live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie from director Fumihiko Sori. In the Fullmetal Alchemist world, alchemy is one of the most-practiced sciences. The film is about two brothers who go on a quest for the Philosopher's Stone (no connection to Harry Potter). It stars Ryôsuke Yamada as Edward Elric, Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Ryuuta Satou as Maes Hughes, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Natsuna as Maria Ross, Natsuki Harada as Gracia Hughes, You Ooizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura and many others. This first teaser doesn't have much footage in it, but at least there's more to see here than the Blade of the Immortal trailer. Take a look. Here's the first teaser trailer for Fumihiko Sori's Fullmetal Alchemist movie, direct...

Looking for good books about the movies to read? We've got a bumper selection of recommendations right here...
A confession. I actually started writing this article in 2013, and the reason you've only reading it now is that I've made sure I've read every book on this list, save for one or two where I've marked otherwise. As such, what you're getting is a very personal list of recommendations. Each of these books has at least something to it that I think is of interest to someone wanting to learn more about film - or just enjoy stories of movie making.
I've tended to avoid picture books, with one exception, as these ones I've chosen are all intended to be chock-full of words, to relax with at the end of a long day. Which is what I did. There are one or two notable omissions, as I'm still...

Welcome To Issue 59!
If This Is Your First Time Here: Welcome! This is my weekly column where I talk about superhero movie news, rumors and speculation to the detriment of no one. It usually has spoilers.
This Week: Inhumans and Aquaman both look to be in our future. That plus: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Amazing Spider-Man 2 reveal the degree to which they are a mess.
Yesterday, we got some rumblings about two new properties on the super franchise scene, one for the McU in Inhumans and one for DC/WB in the really horrible Aquaman scripting process they have going.
It was weird yesterday to see Variety drudge up a report from June that was basically saying: Yes, Jason Momoa is Aquaman in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It got picked up a lot, because when the trades pull from something that distant there’s usually a reason.

Dark Souls II's first Dlc is due today, and a new patch has addressed a huge list of issues...
News
The first Dlc for Dark Souls II, Crown of the Sunken King, has probably landed by the time you read this, and accompanying it is a huge update that fixes and tweaks a massive range of features.
You can see the full list below (and it's some list), but highlights include a limit to the amount of souls a player can earn whilst fighting invaders, and the removal of healing abilities during any form of PvP, a common annoyance for those who follow Dark Souls' community created honour system of no healing during a fight.
A good portion of the update deals with balancing, making changes to weapons damage, armour effectiveness, and spells. Some items have been changed too, such as the very handy Gower's Ring of Protection, which has been weakened,...

Created by Tony Isabella
What can I say about Black Lightning except for the fake Afro wig (decades before Steve Harvey’s Btw… wait… y’all didn’t know that was a wig? Oops, sorry Steve, my bad) but like I was saying-except for the wig I loved this character the moment I saw him. Yeah, there were some stereotypical thing to him like his real first name, Jefferson but his last name was Pierce and Jefferson Pierce sounded so cool I can give Jefferson a pass.
9. Spawn.

Little know story: when I was the CEO of Motown Animation & Filmworks I started a comic book imprint called Machineworks. We were all set to do a publishing deal with Marvel Comics which would have given Marvel its very own Milestone like imprint.

It's not always smiles behind the camera, as this list of feuding co-stars proves. I Love Trouble, indeed...
It's a fallacy that everyone gets on together on a movie set. Just as in an everyday office, some people get on better with others. That's as you might expect. But when it comes to film, occasionally a disagreement between two stars becomes oh-so-apparent to pretty much anyone in the stalls at their local Odeon.
This isn't designed by any measure to be a definitive list (yep, Swayze and Jennifer Grey weren't best chums making Dirty Dancing), but here are some of the more interesting examples of where co-stars simply didn't get on...

The big update for "Skyrim" has already hit the PC scene, but starting today console adventurers will get a chance to forget about their loved ones all over again with a new leveling system and a Legendary difficulty mode. The update fixes several common and rare bugs that more often than not plague these huge open world games but arguably the biggest "fix" is the Oghma Infinium glitch. If you're still a greenhorn in the land of Skyrim, you'll have to level up the legit way instead of reading the mythical grimoire over and over.
Other patches smooth out some of the annoying quest item bugs that weigh you down with various "undroppable" flutes, drums, and crystals. The full patch release after the jump.

It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a jam-packed week, with plenty of movies waiting to take you money, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, August 20th 2012.
Pick Of The Week
Puppet Master (DVD/Blu-ray)
Alex Whittaker and three other gifted psychics are investigating rumors that the secret of life has been discovered by master puppeteer Andre Toulon. But the psychics quickly discover Toulon’s secret of death in the form of five killer puppets – each one uniquely qualified for murder and mayhem. Tunneler has a nasty habit of boring holes in people with his drill bit head. Ms. Leech regurgitates killer leaches that suck her victims dry. Pinhead strangles his enemies with his powerful vice-like hands.

Each week within this column we strive to pair the latest in theatrical releases to the worthwhile titles currently available on Netflix Instant Watch.
This week in theaters girls go gross-out in the latest Apatow comedy, Paul Bettany dons vestments to vanquish vampires, and the world of indie cinema unleashes a nihilistic loner and a homeless homeowner. But if these new releases aren’t enough to satisfy your movie-viewing cravings, we’ve got a selection of streaming features full of laughs, madness and mayhem.

Bridesmaids
Kristen Wiig stars as a lovable loser whose life goes from bad to abysmal when her best gal pal’s approaching nuptials threaten their longtime friendship. Full of fiercely funny females like Maya Rudolph, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, and Melissa McCarthy this sassy and sharp feature proves comedy knows no gender.

The Backbeat bad boy has struggled in B-movie fare like Space Truckers but, like his character in Somewhere, he's getting a second chance
Stephen Dorff is recalling the time Oliver Stone tried to fob him off. Stone was casting World Trade Center, looking for an actor to play the cop who finds Nicolas Cage buried alive in the rubble. Dorff wanted the part, but Stone wouldn't give it to him. "He said, 'Stephen, I like you, you're a good actor, but you don't look like a cop. You're too cute.'" The actor was outraged. "Oliver," he countered, "what are you talking about, man? I look like this now cos I'm not playing the part! If you give me the part, I'm gonna look completely different, I'm gonna sound completely different. That's my job. Are you telling me that I can't do my job?"
Dorff's impassioned plea earned him a second audition.
