“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 concluded on April 19 with the sixteenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Vying for the crown in the “Grand Finale” were three finalists: New York’s Nymphia Wind, Boston’s Plane Jane, and Philadelphia’s Sapphira Cristál.
Previously in episode 15, the eliminated queens returned to compete in a first ever “LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown – Reunited” episode. In a nine-lip sync tournament, Morphine Love Dion came out on top as the ultimate lip sync assassin of the season and was named “Queen of She Already Done Had Hereses” with a $50,000 cash prize.
In this week’s final episode, Nymphia, Jane and Sapphira all perform an original number and then a third place finisher is determined. Additionally, the previously eliminated queens walk the runway once more and Miss Congeniality is named. Then, the last two standing compete in one final, title-earning Lip Sync...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on April 12 with the fifteenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode 14, the top four told stories of their own lives memoir style in podcast interviews. Plane Jane and Q found themselves vulnerable as the bottom two and Q was shocked to be sent home instead of marching on to the “Grand Finale” alongside her sisters.
This week, instead of the standard reunion episode, RuPaul Charles invites the eliminated queens back for a “LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown” where one comes out on top of the tournament $50,000 richer. Seated at the judges’ dais this week to help decide the match-up winners were longtime bestie Michelle Visage and recurring judge Ts Madison.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Episode 3.] No one wants to be the first queen eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race, but Hershii LiqCour-Jeté feels she put her “best foot forward” in her limited screen time. She also tells TV Insider that the new Rate-a-Queen system, which allows the competitors rank their favorite performances from the week but they don’t have to play fair, was not a welcome twist. “I hated it,” she says with a laugh. “I hated that the second [RuPaul] mentioned it.” The voting system is a new feature in Season 16, one that gives the drag queens the power to determine who ends up in the top and bottom two instead of host RuPaul. Mother Ru still decides who gets eliminated, but the results of the queens’ rankings determine who will lip-sync for their lives. Viewers saw Plane Jane take advantage of the system in a cutthroat way...

It took two minutes of screen time for Plane Jane to become the villain of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16. Right away, the shady Boston queen showed her true colors describing herself as an “authentically Russian hooker” and calling (according to the subtitles) a plus-sized queen a “piglet” in her native language.
The shade continued all episode as she consistently made rude comments about her competitiors (both in confessionals and to their faces) and became the only queen to opt to rate the queens from worst to best instead of best...

Charlize Theron expressed her strong support for the drag community in her debut as a guest judge on the season premiere of MTV’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
In the opening episode of Season 16, the Oscar-winning actor and longtime LGBTQ told the queens that the groundswell of efforts to curb the rights of drag performers is driven by fear and ignorance.
“Given the climate in our country right now, there’s a lot of energy being put toward your community not existing. I truly believe that all of that is coming from a place of fear,” Theron told the contenders on the long-running competition series. “The beauty of what your community brings and the truth of who you are and represent will come out. Don’t give up.”
Contender Xuname Muse, daughter of Kandy Muse, praised Theron for speaking out.
