Dermot Mulroney is looking back at how one of his biggest movies hurt his career.
In a new interview, the 60-year-old actor recalled how the movie poster for his 1997 rom-com My Best Friend’s Wedding, which he starred in with Julia Roberts, led him to not landing a a major acting gig for a year.
Keep reading to find out more…Dermot explained to The New York Times that in the official movie poster, Julia‘s face takes up most of the space while he’s featured very small and on top of a wedding cake.
“I was sitting there ready for the gift with purchase that was supposed to come along with being in a popular movie, and instead, I probably didn’t work for a year,” Dermot shared. “I chalked it up to me being so tiny on the poster, the little guy on the cake. I thought, gosh,...

Dermot Mulroney didn’t have a Bff in any casting departments after starring in 1997 rom-com “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
Mulroney shared with the New York Times that despite starring in the hit film alongside Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, he “probably didn’t work for a year” after its release. “My Best Friend’s Wedding” grossed almost $300 million at the global box office against its $35 million budget, and while Mulroney went on to continue his rom-com reign with “The Wedding Date” and more, there was not exactly a slew of immediately available roles with Dermot’s name on them.

“Oh my God, Dermot, I just was watching you in Anyone but You — which I love, by the way, it’s such a good movie,” Drew said between sobs.
She added, “You were so good to me.

Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s comedy-drama film, The Miracle Club, showcases a rather impressive screenplay that’s elevated by the cinematography. Set in 1967 Dublin, the film stars famous actors like Maggie Smith, Laura Linney, and Kathy Bates in the lead roles. The film’s beautiful message of retrieving long-lost bonds looms large throughout its narrative. The plot brings out the urge of some women in Dublin to go on a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. The unfortunate death of one of the friends in the circle brings her daughter to the town, who also embarks on the journey with the other women, and in the process, the rifts between them get resolved. Some of the most sought-after similar films on the miracles of pilgrimages include Pilgrimage, The Pilgrims, and others. Will the pilgrimage do miracles? Will the bath restore the long-lost health of the people visiting? Let’s find out!

“The Miracle Club” may not be a faith-based movie in the traditional sense, but this Ireland-set art-house offering is a movie about faith all the same — specifically, about the conviction that drives four women to make the pilgrimage from Ireland all the way to Lourdes, France, where the waters are believed to have holy healing powers. If “The Miracle Club” were an overtly religious film, audiences would know from the outset what to expect from the trip, whereas director Thaddeus O’Sullivan doesn’t presume to play God, focusing more on mending the relationship between his main characters.
And what a cast he’s assembled to explore these women’s spiritual growth. The movie’s nothing special, but it’s worth checking out for the ensemble alone. Maggie Smith plays Lily, who lost her son to the sea decades earlier. Adopting an Irish accent and a frosty overall demeanor, Kathy Bates plays Eileen,...

Exclusive: Ryan Phillippe (American Murderer), Emile Hirsch (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Mena Suvari (American Horror Story) will topline Kalahari, a new action thriller from Vertical, which has wrapped production.
Vertical fully financed the pic and has taken North American rights, with Voltage Pictures locking down rights for all international territories, preparing now to present the film to buyers at Cannes.
In the film written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil (Collide), a young couple is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert aboard a rickety plane after an extremist militant group threatens their lives. Piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Hirsch), the plane loses power and crash-lands in the middle of an animal preserve populated by lions, leopards and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group must fight for their survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

One of the great things about the Scream series is that you always have the core cast members at the center of these films, but we also always get some new players to come along in each installment, which keeps things interesting for fans. So when it was announced last year that Dermot Mulroney was joining the cast of Scream VI, this writer was ecstatic because I’m always happy to see Mulroney pop up in anything, but having Dermot appearing in one of my very favorite franchises ever was just beyond awesome for me.
At the recent press day for Scream VI, I was elated to have the chance to speak with Mulroney briefly about coming aboard this latest Scream film, and he discussed his experiences collaborating with directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin as well as his fellow cast mates, his thoughts on joining the Scream-iverse, and more.

I’ve been gushing over my love for Scream VI since I finally caught it. Look, another slasher icon terrorizing New York didn’t seem like a movie I’d love, but I’m a fan. The new film features the return of Courtney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding. It also marks the return of Kirby Reed with the lovely Hayden Panettiere from Scream 4. It’s impressive how screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, along with the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have brought the franchise back in a satisfying way.
As a fan, it was a thrill to get the opportunity to speak with the filmmakers and cast members of Scream VI. First up, we spoke with both Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett about continuing this story and how they approached this “requel sequel.” We also talked to a number of the cast,...

John Oliver took aim at Kristen Stewart over her “general vibe” on Last Week Tonight.
The late night host returned for a new episode on Sunday (30 October), where he discussed the subject of bail reform.
Oliver showed a clip of Dermot Shea, New York City’s police commissioner, who said that loose bail reform laws, in which criminals are freed without having to post bail, are the cause of a recent crime wave – a claim that contradicted his recent comments.
“Well, which is it, Dermot? Are the numbers not dramatic, or is bail reform 100 per cent leading to more shootings?” Oliver asked, adding: “Because those things are mutually exclusive.”
He then used Spencer actor Stewart to emphasise his point.
“The only place where ‘not dramatic’ and ‘100 per cent’ can exist at the same time is in Kristen Stewart’s whole general vibe. She’s giving it her all, but she...

John Oliver kicked off Sunday’s Last Week Tonight by noting it had been a busy week, “from massive protests still ongoing in Iran to the fact that Tom Brady suddenly has one less ring.”
The HBO host’s jab at Tom Brady was a reference to both his divorce from Gisele Bundchen and his seven Super Bowl rings.
After that remark, Oliver moved on to the turnover in the United Kingdom’s prime ministership. Oliver pointed to the fact that former Liz Truss was in the job for only 45 days, during which time the tabloid newspaper Daily Star had created a stunt asking which would last longer — Truss or a head of iceberg lettuce. After Truss resigned, a photo of the head of lettuce was projected on the outside walls of Parliament.

John Oliver was back with Last Week Tonight and make a recap of some of the hottest topics affecting Americans across the country. The late-night host opened up the show by taking a swipe at Tom Brady after it was confirmed he was splitting from his wife.
“It has been a busy week from massive protests still ongoing in Iran to the fact that Tom Brady suddenly has one less ring,” Oliver joked.
Oliver was referring to the seven rings Brady has from his Super Bowl championships. The current Tampa Buccaneers quarterback has one title with his current team and had previously won six times with the New England Patriots. However, the comedian was not talking about Brady’s loss of Super Bowl rings, but his wedding ring after the couple announced their split after 13 years of marriage.

During This Morning on Friday (14 November), Hammond and co-host Dermot O’Leary thanked viewers after winning the award for Best Daytime Show at Thursday (13 November) night’s show.
