The Chemical Brothers have unveiled the new single, “No Reason,” their first fresh offering in two years.
Produced by the elite electronic duo comprised of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, “No Reason” features a sample of the New Wave band Second Layer’s 1979 single, “Courts or Wars.” The track is heavy on the vibes but light on the optimism as a grippingly deep bass and buoyant acid beat swell with wailing vocals that repeat, “We have no reason to live/ We have no reason at all.” Despite the song’s seemingly directionless mindset, its production constantly pushes forward thanks to the group’s myriad of flourishes and tricks, along with some celebratory “woo!”‘s thrown in for good measure. Stream it below.

Give it up for the Chemical Brothers. Genres and trends come and go, festival gods rise and fall. Yet Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons stay eternally true to their block rocking vision. The duo has now outlasted two stupidly-named marketing gimmicks designed to sell dance music to normals: electronica (which they sort of helped invent in the Nineties) and Edm (which they’ve admirably ignored throughout the last decade). Their last album, 2016’s Born in the Echoes, stuck with a formula that’s worked for them for a quarter century:...

The Chemical Brothers have detailed their new album No Geography and shared the LP’s latest single “Got to Keep On.” The album arrives April 12th via Astralwerks.
In contrast to 2015’s all-star Born in the Echoes – which boasted guests like Beck, St. Vincent and Q-Tip – No Geography only features Norwegian singer Aurora and Japanese rapper Nene as the Chemical Brothers returned to their roots, as evidenced by the ecstatic throwback “Got to Keep On.”

I’ll just come right out and say it: Born in the Echoes by The Chemical Brothers is what Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories should have been. Both are celebrity-studded electronic music concept albums intended to boldly defy the movement’s status quo during its meteoric rise in popularity, but where the latter group attempted to do so by traveling back in time, the former accomplished it effortlessly by making music that would logically follow their creative momentum in the wake of their 2010 album Further.
Perhaps one of the most legitimate criticisms of contemporary Edm is that it consists of overly specific genres for each of which a single song or album would suffice – and really, by today’s standards, Born in the Echoes could be expanded to an entire genre in and of itself. Largely defined by the experimental use of antiquated analogue synthesizers, the sound achieved by...

It's been five years since the last full-scale release from Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, the English duo behind the electronic outfit Chemical Brothers, but the wait is over. Born in the Echoes is due in July, and its first single, "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted," is laced with so many heavy beat-drops and seamless techno progressions that it's damn near impossible to listen to without busting some serious dance moves. Joining the Chemical Bros. on the new LP are heavy-hitting contemporaries including Beck and Q-Tip, as well as relative newcomers like St. Vincent and Cat Le Bon. The Chemical Brothers will be hitting the festival circuit this summer, though Simons won't be a part of it, citing conflicts with his "academic pursuits." Stream the new song below.

Talking to a UK publication, the 28-year-old singer said that she nearly died from septicaemia and was so numb from the shock that she didn't even care for her life, Daily Star reported.
She said that it was so horrendous that she would not wish it on her worst enemy, asserting that it's something that she is still yet to deal with, adding that she will never get over it.
Allen also suffered a miscarriage in 2008 at four months when she was in a relationship with Ed Simons,.

Though the Chemical Brothers were outrageously unacknowledged for their work on Joe Wright’s Hanna, the musical duo (comprised of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons) are getting ready for their next musical project, and it will be just as magical if not completely entrancing as Hanna. The Playlist (via Firstshowing) has discovered that The Chemical Brothers will be scoring Louis Leterrier’s upcoming illusionist/magician heist movie Now You See Me, which is currently filming.
The new Louis Leterrier movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Michael Caine, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Common. With the movie currently filming, its not likely that we’ll see any footage for quite some time. But we’ve seen some teaser art, which looked very cool, and gave us a sense of what kind of movie we would be seeing.

The trend continues. They last scored Joe Wright's Hanna, to stellar results, now they're moving on to the "magical" next. The Playlist is reporting that The Chemical Brothers will be scoring Louis Leterrier's upcoming illusionist/magician heist movie Now You See Me, which is currently filming. It's not due out until March 2013 from Summit, but they say that "sources close to the film have confirmed" the British duo Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, who go under name The Chemical Brothers, are working on this movie next. Which actually sounds great already, considering it's about a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists. We've been covering updates on Now You See Me for a while, originally written by Edward Ricourt and Boaz Yakin. The film is shooting now in New Orleans, and Louis Leterrier (Transporter 1 & 2, Unleashed, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans) is directing. The cast ...

The Chemical Brothers are to release their tour movie Don't Think on DVD and Blu-Ray next month. The film from director Adam Smith will also be available as a CD soundtrack when it is released on March 26. Don't Think was filmed during the electronic duo's headline set at Japan's Fujirock Festival in July. It had previously been screened at over 500 cinemas around the world earlier this month (February 1). Speaking about Smith's work on the film, Ed Simons said: "We wanted to have a film for us to keep as a record, but Adam had more ambition. "There was footage from Glastonbury 2007 which was pretty amazing, it really started to capture what it is to be in the crowd, how the music and the visuals are intoxicating. You have to capture that thing that's in the air." Adam Smith added: "We wanted (more)...

The concert film can be an odd cinematic experience. It’s a genre which places the viewer in the position of comfortable, passive observer when in reality, what’s really being presented is an atmosphere offering the complete opposite, willing its audience to contribute in as lively and exuberant manner as possible.
The Chemical Brothers Don’t Think (filmed at last year’s Fuji Rock Festival in Japan) is perhaps the best example yet of testing an audience’s participatory threshold, and watching this thrilling 90-minute audio and sensory assault, it’s incredibly hard not to succumb to the urge of leaping up out of your seat and triumphantly punching the air as soon as the duo lay down that first beat.
Eschewing the traditional accompaniments associated with the genre (pre and post-gig backstage shenanigans, talking heads of fans in various states of excited and jittery anticipation) we’re thrust...

★★★☆☆ Filmed with 20 cameras at a headline show at Japan's wildly popular Fujirock Festival, long-term visuals collaborator and director Adam Smith's Don't Think (2011) is a full-length concert movie that attempts to fully capture the audiovisual spectacle of a live show courtesy of Manchester electronic duo The Chemical Brothers. However, whilst undeniably a feast for the eyes, the film struggles to transcend its superficial premise and may prove inaccessible for those not acquainted with the work of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons.

Capturing and conveying the essence of live performance on film is risky business even if you're gambling in Dolby 7.1. "The Chemical Brothers: Don't Think" is one such endeavor, but then, it might be the next best alternative to being there live. After all, you don't have to be in the middle of a swarming rave to experience the full scope of what has come to be defined as a singular event.
Filmed in the summer of 2011 during Tom Rowlands' and Ed Simons' headlining set at the Fuji Rock Fest in Japan, "Don't Think" employs handheld footage from the festival and chromatic visuals by the duo's longtime collaborator Adam Smith that are so visually striking they should come with the type of warnings routinely preceding paroxysmic video games.
"Don't Think" opens ominously enough with the plaintive synths of "Another World"; Rowlands and Simons posted front and center, barricaded behind a stockpile of electronic gadgetry,...

The Chemical Brothers' famously psychedelic live act has finally been captured in film – with flying cutlery and clowns. Alexis Petridis reports on Don't Think
Adam Smith is the first to admit that his debut feature film is not the easiest sell in the history of cinema. "There's no real narrative strand," says the director. "It's 85 minutes long, it's got paintballs exploding – and clowns. I was saying to someone the other day, 'You'd never commission it, would you?'" He laughs. "It sounds rubbish, you know?"
Seated across the table from Smith in a west London pub, Tom Rowlands, one half of the Chemical Brothers, frowns. "There is," he says heavily, "some music in it is as well." But even taking into account the film's subject matter – the Chemical Brothers headlining Fuji Rock festival in Niigata, Japan, last year – Don't Think still seems on the face of it an unlikely candidate for cinematic glory.

The Prodigy have been named the 'Greatest Dance Act Of All Time'. Tens of thousands of people voted in the Mixmag survey and the British three-piece of Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim Reality beat French duo Daft Punk into second place by "a handful of votes". The Chemical Brothers - Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons - were placed third. Flint said: "To walk off a stage and feel like we smashed it - that's the reward for us, to see the crowd react and know we've done what we've come to do. "But something like this is truly voted for by the people - and essentially we are nothing without them, so it feels awesome, and really respectful." Howlett added: "I'd like to think it's because we kept it real man, because we always do our own thing and try our hardest. "Mixmag (more)...

Congratulations, Lily Allen! She gave birth to a baby girl right as the weekend rolled in and even tweeted a succinct update that read, “Totes amaze.” We don’t have any more details as yet but will post updates as soon as they’re released — like what baby girl’s name is. This has been such a good year for Lily. She married Sam Cooper earlier in July and sprung a total surprise on wedding guests by announcing that she was pregnant. We really are happy for the singer, especially considering that she’s suffered two miscarriages in the past. The second was last year in 2010, with Sam’s baby and the first was in 2008 with then-boyfriend, Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers. That’s all in the past now, and we’re hoping Lily’s resting surrounded by her new family.

It's a girl for Lily Allen!
The British singer and her husband, Sam Cooper, welcomed a baby girl into their family Friday, the Daily Mail reports.
The singer has yet to officially confirm the happy news, and no name has been released yet, but she did send a short message to her fans.
"Totes Amaze," she wrote on Twitter.
Allen's ex-boyfriend and close friend Seb Chew also helped spread the happy news on Twitter, writing, "Sending out love to lily, sam and mini cooper...... Yes."
The new addition to their family comes just months after Allen and Cooper tied the knot in the English countryside in June. The longtime couple announced to their friends and family at the wedding they were also expecting a baby -- happy news for newlyweds, who tragically lost a baby in late 2010 when Allen was six months pregnant.

Lily Allen has delivered her first child with husband Sam Cooper on Friday evening, November 25. The baby news was brought to attention by Allen's ex-boyfriend DJ Seb Chew. The disc jokey mentioned the bundle of joy when sending his warm greeting to the happy couple on Twitter. "Sending out love to lily, sam and mini cooper...... Yes," so he wrote.
Representative for Lily hasn't officially confirmed the delivery of the baby, but the singer herself has tweeted a brief message, "Totes amaze." Before Chew clued her fans that she got a baby, the tweet was presumed by some of her followers as either her new single or album.
It's unclear what name the "Smile" hitmaker and her business owner husband gave to their newborn baby. Details surrounding the baby's birth is also sketchy, but a close friend of the couple, who tied the knot on June 11 this year, claimed it had been "all good.

Singer Lily Allen, 26, and her husband Sam Cooper have welcomed a baby girl into their lives, reports the U.K.'s Daily Mail. It is the first child for both of them and surely a welcome blessing after Allen suffered a miscarriage with Cooper's baby a year ago.
That was actually Allen's second miscarriage; she also miscarried a pregnancy in January 2008 when she was in a relationship with musician Ed Simons.
We're so happy for Lily and Sam that everything has turned out well. The two were wed back in June 2010. Cooper is a building company owner and began dating Allen in the summer of 2009.
Congratulations to the whole family.

A lovely Lily Allen married boyfriend Sam Cooper in a little church in Cranham, near Gloucester, England, just day before yesterday, on Saturday. The gown had a beautifully vintage feel to it with it’s Calais lace overlay, long sleeves, 1920′s veil and a three foot train. It was created by a French designer called Delphine Manivet who said, “Lily is a girl who is quite rock and roll, but her wedding she wanted to be traditional.”
It gets even better for the 26-year-old singer, because it turns out that Lily is pregnant as well, news which they delivered to wedding guests! Lily suffered a devastating miscarriage last year, and one before that in 2008 while dating Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers, so this must be especially healing for her. We wish the new couple and parents-to-be much joy! Congratulations! More pictures from the wedding below.

Focus Features Scene from “Hanna.”
In the thriller “Hanna,” a doughy, tracksuit-wearing villain played by Tom Hollander pursues the young heroine (Saoirse Ronan) while whistling an upbeat tune. The melody, which sounds like something from a circus carousel or a parade of Walt Disney creatures, is at eerie odds with the character’s intent. The ditty was composed by those purveyors of “Block Rockin’ Beats,” the Chemical Brothers, whose score drives the film as much as the action sequences featuring Ronan’s young assassin.

The Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons has tweeted his frustrations over Radiohead's latest album release. The band released their new LP The King of Limbs as a download in February, with the physical release available in shops today. They will also be releasing a 'newspaper edition' featuring either the MP3s (£30) or WAVs (£33) together with 2x10" vinyl, a CD and various pieces of artwork packaged in a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic on May 9. Simons responded to a tweet by writer Sophie Heawood, who wrote: "Am starting to wonder if there's any other band as in love with their own lovedness as the current incarnation of Radiohead." He replied: "the bends was just ok, not listened to much after that, are they any good? (sic)" In response to a question about their latest release, he said: (more)...

It's not exactly the same thing, but after Daft Punk's foray into film scoring with "Tron: Legacy" turned out to be more anticipation than enjoyment, we were admittedly a bit tentative with Chemical Brothers scoring Joe Wright's upcoming action thriller "Hanna."
Thankfully, the duo come through, providing a wide-ranging, sonically adventurous soundtrack while still retaining the electronic roots that made them revered gods oh those many years ago.
Unlike Daft playing it safe and leaning more toward Hans Zimmer than anything resembling modern music, Chemical Brothers blend traditional orchestral sounds with synths, drum machines and a slew of instrumentation conjuring up a futuristic world.
"Escape 700," as the title implies, plays like a chase scene out of "Logan's Run," with pulsating synths and chugging drums recalling the krautrock of Neu! as conducted by John Barry. The whimsical "The Devil is in the Details," the musical equivalent of a summer gambol through a meadow,...

Turns out they were actually wedding bells for the approximately 1 billion celebrity couples getting engaged over the holidays, which now includes Lily Allen’s engagement to boyfriend Sam Cooper. The pair was so excited, they immediately started telling their fellow vacationers the happy news. Some children get to wake up to the magical sound of reindeer hoofs on the roof, others to singer-songwriter Lily Allen pounding on their hotel room door to show off her rock. 2010 was a particularly hard year for Allen, who suffered from her second miscarriage in November. The first was in 2007 with then-boyfriend Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers. “She had no idea Sam...
