Roman Wlaszyn(1960-2006)
- Transportation Department
- Additional Crew
Roman Wlaszyn was a Ukrainian-American (on both sides of his family)
whom grew up in Lorain, Ohio, which is home to a moderate-sized, but
very closely-knitted group of 1st, 2nd, and now slightly-aging 3rd
generation of Ukrainian-Americans. He graduated from Southview High
School, located on the south side of Lorain, in 1978. He was an
aspiring actor and producer, acting and engaging in crew work on many
feature films, of only which a fractional list is mentioned herein. He
was especially gifted in the area of picture car coordination on
feature films, attributed to his own life long passion of vintage
automobiles, and operated his own picture car company called "Casting
All Cars", which was utilized quite frequently on film and video
productions in the South Florida region.
He lived for many years in Boca Raton, Florida, where his picture car company flourished, and he also excelled in providing general contracting services for public and private building structures. In more recent years, he found himself spending half of the year back in Lorain, and the other half down in Boca Raton. He personally owned a beautiful 1976 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency sedan that is actually briefly seen within the first few minutes of the beginning of the film American Splendor. Beloved son, brother, and father of two wonderful daughters, he will always be remembered, especially to a fellow Ukrainian-American whom spent many years in Lorain as a young child, and is actively working in the entertainment industry as well.
