Claire Parkes

Claire was born in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, but has been living in Dublin since 1996.
She is best known for her theatre work, playing diverse roles in comedy, period drama and complex dramatic pieces. Most recently, Claire played the lead role of Chris Harper in Calendar Girls with Mill Productions. Prior to that she played the funny and formidable Duchess in Oscar Wilde's Lady Windemere's Fan in The Mill Theatre. Other notable performances include the lead role of Cora in Mark O'Rowe's The Approach, the titular role of Winnie Carney in The Revolutionary and The Soldier, in The Dublin Festival of History. She also played the role of Miss O' Callaghan in James Joyce's acclaimed The Dead, in the Pearse Museum, Dublin. In 2020, Claire had the lead role of The Manager in Mike Barlett's ink black comedy, Contractions which unfortunately was cancelled due to the pandemic. She has also played the lead role in the comedy, Positive Dead People and the comedy role of Miss Brady in TrIsh Dunleavy's Percy French Versus The West Clare Railway.
For television Claire has performed in many short films including Blossom (2021) Unravel (2021) Daughters (2023). She has just completed filming her first feature film, Reputation. Claire, along with her husband Roger were cast members of series 4 of Gogglebox Ireland.
Claire has completed part time courses and workshops with The Gaiety School of Acting, Terry Mc Mahon (Dublin Acting Classes), Louise Kiely Casting , Aaron Monaghan, Geoff O'Keeffe (Mill Productions), Gavin Kostick (Fishamble) Mark O'Brien ( Abbey Theatre). Claire is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who is professionally qualified to work with people with voice disorders including professional voice users.
