Axel Troost
Graduated from Schule Schloss Salem in 1973. Studied economics in Marburg, doctorate on the subject of "Public Debt and Credit Institutions".
Since 1981, initially honorary, then part-time managing director of the "Alternative Economic Policy Working Group" (Memorandum Group). Since 1984 managing partner of PIW Progress-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung GmbH, Bremen/Teltow. 1990 to 2001 Managing Director of "Büro für Strukturforschung Rostock gGmbH" (BÜSTRO), Rostock.
Long-time member of IG Metall, ATTAC, Bund demokratischer WissenschaftlerInnen and Förderverein gewerkschaftliche Arbeitslosenarbeit e. V., among others; co-initiator of numerous nationwide labor market policy initiatives.
In 2004, co-founder of the "Wahlalternative" and member of the executive federal board of the association "Wahlalternative Arbeit und soziale Gerechtigkeit," since January 2005, member of the executive federal board of the party "Arbeit und soziale Gerechtigkeit - Die Wahlalternative" (WASG).
Member of the Bundestag since 2005.
