In 1991 in the town of Munnsville, NY (population 499), 65-year-old William Ward was found dead in his home. Munnsville is a rural farming community hours away from any traditional idea of civilization (that would be Syracuse). William wasn't a young man and he had been ill for some time, so his death didn't spark any serious investigation. Add to that the fact that he lived in a tiny house with his three brothers, who were as close to social outcasts as a family in a town of less than 500 people can be, and it's no surprise that the authorities from the big city didn't come running. But then the autopsy showed signs that Ward may not have died of completely natural causes. And then his brother, Delbert,...

Pippa Middleton officially received the title of Mrs. Matthews of Glen Affric the younger when she married financier James Matthews in a beautiful ceremony in Berkshire, UK, on Saturday. While Kate Middleton did not serve as Pippa's maid of honor because she didn't want to "upstage her sister," Kate seemed to be tasked with keeping all the children on their best behavior. Kate was spotted giving Princess Charlotte a pep talk and rounding up all the page boys and flower girls, including Prince George and Charlotte, before the ceremony. Here are all the people who were in Pippa and James's wedding party. All eyes may have been on Pippa Middleton and financier James Matthews during their wedding on Saturday — but one adorable young boy was determined to steal the spotlight just for a little bit.
The blond boy hammed it up for photographers before the ceremony, flashing the camera with silly faces and peace signs while outside St. Mark’s Church in Englefield.
Princess Kate took on the responsibility of keeping the pageboys (which included Casimir Tatos, Edward Sebire and William Ward) and bridesmaids in order ahead of the ceremony — and was seen escorting them around the church grounds, even shh-ing them at one point.

The Warner Archive Collection is really starting to put out some great DVDs that feature titles you aren’t going to find anywhere else, and the latest to be made available is Search. A massively fun show from the early 70s, Search starred Hugh O’Brian, Doug McClure, and Tony Franciosa, and was (although I’m testing my memory) a show that pulled great tech ideas into the espionage drama realm, at a point when some of the ideas were practically sci-fi.
The complete series is available now, and it’s a lost classic that deserves a look. Unfortunately, it’s hard to get a taste of it to know if you’re interested in buying, but for those who remember the series, this is a real treat.

Danny Glover toplines the cast of From Above (formerly titled Chasing Shakespeare), a romantic drama with a twist that aims to jerk tears. After playing the festival circuit, the film arrives on home video today. When it played at the African Diaspora International Film Festival in November 2013, our own Christopher Bourne had this to say: As per the title, the Bard's plays and poetry make superficial appearances in this maudlin would-be tearjerker, which opens this year's festival. [The film begins] with a scene in a torrential, lightning-filled rainstorm in which William Ward (Danny Glover) bids a teary goodbye to his dying wife Venus (Tantoo Cardinal). William deals with the aftermath of his wife's death as awkward flashbacks are interspersed, showing us how the younger...

Brendan Gleeson and Sam Keeley have signed on for Ron Howard's period action drama "In the Heart of the Sea" at Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow.
Based on Nathaniel Philbrick's fact-based book, it follows the Nantucket whaling ship the Essex, which was stalked and ultimately destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820.
Stranded thousands of miles from home, the crew struggled to survive and were lost at see for three months, at one point they were reduced to cannibalism. Only eight were ultimately rescued. The incident was the inspiration for Herman Melville's "Moby Dick."
Gleeson plays an older version of one of the surviving crew members who is interviewed years later by author Herman Melville. Melville later writes "Moby Dick" based on the interviews.
Keeley plays one of the crew members. Chris Hemsworth, Ben Walker, Cillian Murphy and Tom Holland.
Brian Grazer, Joe Roth, Paula Weinstein and William Ward are producing.

Chris Hemsworth is already attached to play the first mate Owen Chase who was supplanted as captain of the whaling ship by a better connected rival named George Pollard (Benjamin Walker). After the attack, he becomes the hero who leads some of them to safety.
Murphy will play Matthew Joy, the ship's second mate. Tom Holland also stars.

Given his prominent roles in both The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman, which have been two of the biggest financial successes so far this summer, actor Chris Hemsworth finds himself being in the enviable position of looking like a box office commodity. Basically, he’s the anti-Taylor Kitsch (sorry Tim Riggins, but it’s true). Given all of this newfound star power and perceived money drawing ability, Hemsworth’s name is the perfect asset to be used to bring a once-shelved project back from the brink. Or, at least, that’s what producers Joe Roth, Paula Weinstein, Will Ward, and Palak Patel are hoping. They’ve just attached him to star in a film called In the Heart of the Sea, which was originally being developed by Intermedia back in 2000, and has been slipping in and out of developmental hell ever since. In the Heart of the Sea is an adaptation of a Nathaniel...

You know you’re big-time when people in Hollywood aren’t just casting you as the lead in their movies, but they’re actually creating an entire movie around you, for you, from scratch. Such is the case with “Thor” and “The Avengers” star Chris Hemsworth, who is poised to front his own action movie called “Shadow Runners”. That is, as soon as people get around to writing the script and such. The idea for the movie, though, are all nailed down: In “Shadow Runners”, Hemsworth would put down his mighty hammer to play “a former Navy Seal who tries to recapture his potential and repair a rift with an old comrade in arms, as he leads a team of elite international operatives on a mission against a mysterious enemy.” The film is at Sony Pictures, with Tripp Vinson, Beau Flynn and Will Ward producing. It’s hard to imagine that just a few years ago, not very many people knew who Chris Hemsworth was. Now, thanks to his roles in Thor and Star Trek, the Australian actor has starred in a film with the highest grossing opening weekends in history and has projects made specifically with him in mind. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has hired the scribe team, consisting of Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers, to write Shadow Runners for Hemsworth.
The studio acquired the pitch last June, with Tripp Vinson, Beau Flynn and Will Ward producing. The project has since become a huge priority, with Hemsworth being attached to another Thor film, as well as the expected Avengers sequel.

Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers have been hired to pen the script for the action thriller "Shadow Runners" at Sony Pictures says Deadline.
The project, based on an idea by "Drive" scribe Hossein Amini, is being shaped as a vehicle for "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth.
The story is inspired by an incident in which a group of Israeli operatives infiltrated a hotel in Dubai to kill a Hamas leader, only to see the rendezvous captured on surveillance cameras.
The film though will lose the political angle to some extent. Instead Hemsworth will play a former Navy Seal trying to repair a rift with an old friend along with leading a team of elite international operatives on a mission against a mysterious enemy.
Tripp Vinson, Beau Flynn, Will Ward and possibly Simon Kinberg are producing. The project is planning to move forward fast but will work around Hemsworth's "Thor 2" commitments.

British film star known for her roles in A Town Like Alice and The Spanish Gardener
Never having had the chance to justify her initial build-up as "the next Vivien Leigh", the svelte brunette Maureen Swanson, who has died of cancer aged 78, deserved much better than she was given in the 1950s by the Rank Organisation, to whom she was under contract. Although Swanson was not a graduate of the much-maligned Rank Charm School, she was, to her chagrin, often referred to as a "Rank starlet", which implied that she was merely on screen in order to look glamorous. But unlike Rank charmers such as Diana Dors, Joan Collins and Belinda Lee, Swanson was not a "naughty" sex symbol, but more of a "good girl".
She might have gone on to better parts had not her marriage in 1961 to William Ward, Viscount Ednam (later the 4th Earl of Dudley) terminated her acting career for good.

Kings Of The Earth, the latest from neo-Faulknerian Jon Clinch, is a pretty good novel, but it feels oddly inconsequential. The story trots along for nearly 400 pages, then just comes to an end, as though Clinch simply threw up his hands and said, “That’s enough story for now!” The book was loosely inspired by the murder of William Ward (chronicled in the documentary Brother’s Keeper), and it takes as its center three little-educated brothers who work on a dirty, disgusting old farm in upstate New York. When the eldest brother dies, apparently after being suffocated, the local ...

William Ward Warren's footage of Kennedy's arrival at Love Field airport on that fateful day in 1963 is a poignant relic from an era before we all became paparazzi
When the president of the United States makes a public appearance these days, every minute – perhaps every second – is captured from multiple angles by multiple cameras, most of them owned by amateurs. The same was not true in 1963, which is one of the reasons the previously unseen footage of John F Kennedy arriving at Dallas's Love Field airport on the day of his death – released this week by the city's Sixth Floor Museum, which is dedicated to the assassination and its context – is so compelling.
William Ward Warren was a 15-year-old high school student when he filmed the three minutes of 8mm footage the museum released. Local kids were excused lessons because of the presidential visit, so Warren got a ride to the airport from his dad,...

Production begins Monday on the sixth and final season of FX's "Nip/Tuck." As the show's actors get back to work, behind the scenes their representatives are deep in salary renegotiations.
Talks for stars Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh and regulars Joely Richardson, Kelly Carlson and Roma Maffia have been ongoing for weeks.
Heading into production on Season 5 in summer 2007, McMahon and Walsh saw their compensation upped to about $125,000 an episode, with Richardson close behind at about $100,000.
This year, McMahon and Walsh reportedly are seeking to double their salaries, and the other cast members also are seeking substantial raises.
