Born in Dubuque, Iowa, and raised in a Christian-loving home. Since I was a baby, I have always had a camera in my hands. I was always considered the creative mastermind within the family, and I think I take most of those traits from my dad's side. The best memories growing up were every thanksgiving. My younger sister and I would put together a short skit to perform for my family. It turned out to be a tradition where my dad, 2 sisters, and I would take part in doing this. I just never knew everything that God was doing was actually preparing me to be where I am at today.
I started within this industry like most young creatives; broke, but with a purpose. I knew where I wanted to end up, but the process was daunting and very pricey. However, dreams could never be fulfilled by sitting on a couch, playing games, and waiting for God. Yes, he is our provider, but laziness will never take you to the next level. It takes sheer dedication, hard work, and discipline to fulfill those dreams. God is the one that places those dreams in your heart. It is up to you to achieve them and allow God to guide you throughout the process.
I went to school and studied film and darkroom. This eventually landed me in the wedding industry, djing. Djing helped me grasp the knowledge to communicate, organize, and coordinate weddings. This landed me photographing weddings along with shooting models for some well-known magazines. In 2007, I switched things up to add films to my packages. The first videos that I produced were actually testimonials and announcement videos for my dad's church.
My first Short Film was the most interesting film that I have done. It was a one-man show with no budget. But hey, I just wanted to shoot something and so I did. It was a one-location, faith-based film that was shot on the original Sony A7. I had no script, just shot something to piece together in the post. It didn't turn out that bad, but it defiantly could have been more organized and I mean having a script.
Fast forward a few years. I went back to school and studied cinematography at Full Sail University. Getting my bachelor of science degree, and am now working on my first multi-million dollar feature film; The Son.
I am married to another amazing creative Taylor Rountree. Let me say that she is beautiful and absolutely a creative wizard. Her heart is more in marketing and underwater photography. Together, we run a production company offering both photos and video for companies, weddings, and narrative films. We are both also the marketing and media specialist for the Freedom Tour Inc. in Lake Wales, FL.
I love Jesus. I love filmmaking and photography. I want to make a difference with my work, and bring glory to Him. I have years of experience as an editor, writer, filmmaker, and director. Now that you know a little about me, let's tell your story. Are you ready?
