Following delays caused by last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in theaters next February.
Sam Wilson is expected to square off with Red Hulk, but somewhere in the background, The Leader is thought to be pulling the strings. Played by Tim Blake Nelson, the villain hasn't been seen in the MCU since 2008's The Incredible Hulk when his transformation was first teased by Marvel Studios.
In a recent interview with Michael Rosenbaum, Nelson addressed his return as Samuel Sterns when he said, "I'm very happy about it. It's a wonderfully directed movie by Julius Onah."
"I can tell you about my character that we did everything we could, and this was entirely supported by Marvel and I'm so grateful to Kevin Feige and Nate Moore for supporting this: they were on board 100% to do the character as practically as...

Marvel fans have waited a long time to see their all-new Captain America in full swing. This year marks half a decade since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers bowed out of Avengers: Endgame by handing the shield over to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson – and since streaming series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier largely wrestled with Wilson’s decision to take on the Cap mantle, his debut proper as the Star-Spangled Man is coming next year in Captain America: Brave New World. Stepping up to headline status, it’ll be the biggest test of Sam Wilson’s life. “It’s really his coming-out show,” director Julius Onah tells Empire in the Deadpool & Wolverine issue. “It’s about putting him through the paces.”

We've had a pretty good idea that Captain America: Brave New World would feature the MCU debut of Red Hulk for a while now, but we recently got confirmation thanks to some McDonald's Happy Meal Toys!
Not an ideal way to get a first look at the rampaging red monster, but the plush toys weren't exactly detailed. Now, thanks to some new promo art, we finally have a proper look at the character design.
The artwork isn't the clearest, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Brave New World's take on the transformed General President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford). And no, it doesn't look like he's going to grow the 'stache back when he changes!

Disney is bringing more than emotional teenagers to CinemaCon 2024, with Marvel Studios ready to unleash superheroes on an already riled-up crowd. In addition to teasing the audience with footage from Deadpool and Wolverine, an F-bomb-dropping Kevin Feige introduced Anthony Mackie to give CinemaCon a taste of Captain America: Brave New World.
Before covering the CinemaCon stage with stars and stripes (metaphorically), Feige added that production on Fantastic Four will start in a few months and confirms that the title of Thunderbolts* does include an asterisk. As for why that is, Feige isn’t about to spill the beans. “We don’t tell you any more about that until the film comes out,” he said. What the hell does that mean? We’ll need to wait to find out.

The mantle of Captain America has been passed to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, marking a new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After inheriting the shield from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Wilson’s journey as Captain America began in the 2021 series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
Anthony Mackie || Captain America: Civil War
There, he worked alongside some talented stars like Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) and Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo). As Marvel has forayed from the TV to the movies and will focus more on Captain America, there are fewer chances of these two actors making a bigger impact in the future. Thus, their absence will be felt, not only by fans but by Mackie as well.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
It’s time to celebrate for the mutant superheroes of X-Men ’97. Sure, Professor X is gone and Magneto is the team’s new leader, but there’s still plenty to be happy about. The Friends of Humanity have been defeated (at least for now), their archnemesis has decided to become a good guy, and Cyclops and Jean Grey have welcomed a new addition to the family: their infant son Nathan Summers. It’s an exciting time for the team, even if the two-part premiere ends with a second Jean Grey showing up at their door, while the Jean Grey who’s just given birth watches on in horror. What the hell is all that about? (We explained that here.)
But never mind all that: little Nathan is here, but as hardcore X-Men comics fans already know, this isn’t actually the first time...

Out of all the roles he has taken on to date, the one that most perfectly fits Chris Evans is that of Marvel’s fan-favorite superhero, Captain America. That being said, when his character passed on the iconic shield to the Falcon in Avengers: Endgame to carry on his legacy as Captain America, fans were utterly heartbroken and were looking for one way or another for him to return.

This desire to see him back even had rumors popping up about the upcoming fourth installment of the Captain America film series, Captain America: Brave New World, of Evans reprising his role. However, Chris Evans has given a very disappointing update while addressing all those rumors and reports about Captain America 4.

Tim Blake Nelson is excited about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since 2008 when he played Samuel Sterns / The Leader in The Incredible Hulk. The Leader returns to the MCU in Captain America: Brave New World, which sees Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson picking up the shield after Steve Rogers passed the torch. The Incredible Hulk ended with Sterns undergoing his transformation into The Leader, and Nelson says his look in the new film could be more comics-accurate.
After an accident at a chemical plant exposed Sterns to high levels of radiation, his skin turned green, and his head became enlarged alongside his brain. After dying and returning to life several times, the Leader becomes obsessed with the afterlife and an object called the Green Door, “a metaphysical barrier that connects the Below-Place, the bottom layer of the Multiverse, even below the deepest layer of Hell,...

Superhero movies are ubiquitous at this point, and the biggest name in the game is Marvel. Not just any Marvel, mind you, but Marvel Studios. Starting with 2008’s “Iron Man,” Marvel Studios and its now-president Kevin Feige started experimenting with the idea of telling one long, interconnected story over multiple movies with different lead characters, crossing over from time to time – just like in the comics. That experiment proved successful with 2012’s “The Avengers,” and it’s been hit after hit ever since.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, even in the wake of the conclusive nature of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” and it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming down the pike. Below, we’ve assembled a list of every confirmed MCU movie currently in the works, when it’s coming out, who’s in it, and what we know about each project so far.

2008 saw the debut of a movie that continues to have major repercussions for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No, not Iron Man. We’re talking about the second MCU movie, which hit theaters a month after Iron Man. For years, it seemed like Marvel wanted to ignore The Incredible Hulk, only referencing the movie’s events in the equally tangental Netflix MCU shows. But then William Hurt reprised his role as General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Civil War. And then Tim Roth came back as Abomination for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. And now Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler are back as Samuel Sterns aka The Leader and Betty Ross for Captain America: Brave New World.

Legacy has been part of superhero storytelling, almost from the beginning. When one character can no longer maintain their super-moniker, they pass it on to another, creating a chain of heroes with different takes on the same identity. Traditionally, legacy heroes have been more of a DC Comics thing than a Marvel thing, resulting in more Flashes than Thors. But with its ever-expanding live-action universe, the MCU is embracing the legacy concept as new actors take on established names.
We’ve already seen glimpses of this with Jane Foster becoming Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder and Shuri stepping in as Black Panther after the death of her brother T’Challa, as well as potential legacy characters with Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye and Yelena Belova’s White Widow.

Liv Tyler is to reprise her character from 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk‘ for Marvel’s next instalment in the ‘Captain America’ saga, ‘Captain America: New World Order.’
She will reprise the role of scientist Betty Ross. Ross is the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who was played by the late William Hurt in several films and will now be portrayed by Harrison Ford.
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson returns for his first solo outing as Captain America. Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his ‘The Incredible Hulk’ role fourteen years later to play the villain The Leader.

In addition, Carl Lumbly will return as Isaiah Bradley while Danny Ramirez returns as the new Falcon after both appeared in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ series.

There is already plenty of The Incredible Hulk's DNA running through Captain America: New World Order, with Tim Blake Nelson returning as Samuel Sterns (Aka The Leader) and Harrison Ford stepping to play the recurring role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from William Hurt. As part of a surprise announcement, Liv Tyler is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The actress will reprise her role as the scientist Betty Ross, first seen in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Tyler is returning for Captain America: New World Order, starring Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as the successor of the shield and stripes. Ross is the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who the late William Hurt played in multiple Marvel films before he passed in 2022 of prostate cancer. Harrison Ford will now play the General going forward.

It’s not uncommon for comedies to take a potshot or two at Scientology. After all, most of what people know of the Church stems from gossip pages, highly publicized lawsuits, or documentaries like Going Clear and Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.
But despite its more than three-decade history of irreverent humor, The Simpsons has never directly mocked Scientology. Why is that, exactly?

And while he gears up to work on that movie, Nelson has also signed on to star in a film called The Leader – but this isn’t a Marvel project. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame, bringing Captain America’s arc to a well-deserved conclusion. The events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier found Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America as it explored the implications of a Black man being given that role. Anthony Mackie will be bringing his version of Cap to the big screen with Captain America: New World Order, but there are bound to be comparisons between the two heroes.

The cast of ‘Captain America: New World Order’ has been revealed at Marvel’s D23 Expo presentation. Anthony Mackie, who has played superhero Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” is leading the film as the new Captain America for the first time.
The cast of the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie will also include Shira Haas as Sabra, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, as well as Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who appeared in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ series, as Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively, reports Variety.

Coming less than two months after its blowout panel/spectacle at 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios’ presentation at parent company Disney’s own D23 Expo was preceded by massive expectations out in fandom and the Twitterverse.

Back at Comic-Con, Disney & Marvel Studios revealed that a Thunderbolts movie would be hitting theatres on July 26th, 2024, and now, at D23, we’ve gotten an official cast list. Sebastian Stan leads the adventure as The Winter Soldier and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, aka the new Black Widow. Her adopted dad, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, is along for the ride, as is Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, but the rest of the team is where it gets really interesting. Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (aka US Agent) from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Hannah John Kamen’s Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp make up the rest of the team. At the D23 panel, Stan joked about Winter Soldier is the most stable member of the group.
In the comics, the Thunderbolts are a team of anti-heroes consisting of mostly reformed supervillains.

Returning from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” are Danny Ramirez (coming off the massive success of “Top Gun: Maverick”), Carl Lumbly (who played a Black soldier who had gotten the super-serum) and, for the first time in 14 years, Tim Blake Nelson will be returning as The Leader.
“It feels incredible,” Onah said. “Look at this cast. This is going to be a wild ride. It’s a paranoid thriller. And getting a part of seeing Sam take center stage, I’m through the roof I’m so excited.”
For his part, Lumbly said, “It feels great being anywhere. Being here is just stunning.

The cast of “Captain America: New World Order” has been revealed out of Marvel’s D23 Expo presentation on Saturday.
Anthony Mackie, who has played superhero Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” is leading the film as the new Captain America for the first time. The cast of the fourth “Captain America” movie will also include Shira Haas as Sabra, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, as well as Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, who appeared in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series, as Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley, respectively.
Nelson’s The Leader was last seen in the 2008 film “The Incredible Hulk” as Samuel Sterns, beginning his transformation into the iconic Hulk villain.
As the “New World Order” team took the stage, director Julius Onah called the film a “paranoid thriller.” Mackie raved about the project, saying, “I’m nervous!

Mackie has played Sam Wilson since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, spending much of that time as the hero The Falcon in films such as Captain America: Civil War (2016). Tim Roth will be part of the supporting cast of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination. Blonsky appears as one of Jennifer Walters' supervillain clients, with her trying to get him paroled; the "She-Hulk" trailers show the two meeting while he's imprisoned. Considering Walters is a cousin of Blonsky's nemesis, Bruce Banner, their attorney/client relationship probably isn't going to be the smoothest.
Blonsky was previously the main villain of 2008's "The Incredible Hulk," and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's second big bad after Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) in "Iron Man." When a villain survives the end of a Marvel movie, it's usually because there are greater plans for them. And yet, Roth wound up stuck in one of the longest hiatuses in the MCU. There was a 13-year gap between his initial role in "The Incredible Hulk" and his uncredited cameo in 2021's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,...
