Sia led Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman and the Roots in an ebullient rendition of the Mardi Gras classic, "Iko Iko" on The Tonight Show Wednesday.
The troupe — all donning Sia wigs — clicked and clacked their way through the song using an array of drums, percussion instruments and left-field noise makers, including spoons, cups, a deck of cards and a cue ball and eight-ball.
Sia sang lead on "Iko Iko," allowing herself the occasional, exuberant vocal run, while Fallon sang back-up and Portman and the Roots joined in for the song's bombastic call-and-response chorus.

Another Wtw, another Cohen Media Group release. Seriously, the good folks at Cohen have been doing an amazing job of finding relatively obscure classics and recent foreign films and polishing them like they’re beloved worldwide. They’re rivaling Criterion and Scream Factory as studios for which every release truly matters. Their latest is a collection of four early films from the legendary Vivien Leigh, an actress best-known for “Gone with the Wind” and a true Hollywood icon.

HBO’s popular television show Treme: The Complete Third Season picks up two years after Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, a time when crime and corruption are on the rise, and outsiders with their own agendas are starting to pour money into the city.
For the people of New Orleans, even the promises of redevelopment come with strings attached, and every dollar that shows up – whether from government disaster relief, or from venture capital, or even from those seeking to remake New Orleans in the wake of Katrina – carries with it new dynamics and new risks. New Orleans — For more than two decades, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has closed with a performance by the city's own Neville Brothers.
On Sunday, that tradition changed. Aaron Neville performed on a stage with his new band while young brass band frontman Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews closed the festival's biggest stage – where the Neville Brothers once held court the last day.
Andrews and his band, Orleans Avenue, entertained a jam-packed crowd as the festival ended its 2013 run. A sea of faces stretched to the track's back fence.
Neville said he views the closing lineup change as kind of a "passing of the guard.
"Trombone Slim, as I call him, will do a great job," Neville said of Andrews. "I remember when it was Professor Longhair out there and then we did it for a long time. It's time. Slim is a big musician and I'm proud of the way he's handled himself.

New Orleans, April 27 (Reuters) - Musician Troy Andrews, better known as "Trombone Shorty," witnessed his first New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at age 12 - not from the viewing area but on stage.
"I was playing with my brother's brass band," said Andrews, now 27.
At this year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Andrews will be given a high honor. He will perform for the first time as the closing act of the final day on the biggest stage. That time slot previously had long been occupied by one of New Orleans' most famous bands, the Neville Brothers.
The festival, which began Friday and ends May 5, has music lovers filling the walkways linking 12 stages arranged across 150 acres of the festival grounds, not far from downtown.
During the next two weekends, some 500 bands will perform at the festival, including a sprinkling of big names from Billy Joel, Dave Matthews and Adam Lambert to Jill Scott,...

It's Carnival time on Treme and this year, the festivities find New Orleans in much better shape that previous years. Financially, spiritually - the foundation of Nola has grown in strength and Mardi Gras will be more of a culmination of that progress and provide the residents with a chance to celebrate how far they've come. In prior years, Carnival had been more of an escape, a way to put thoughts of homelessness, crumbling infrastructure, delayed governmental aid, and a seemingly hopeless future to rest for a time. New Orleans might be not where its residents would like it to be, but it's getting there and now's the time to reward themselves for making it to this point.
On tonight's episode of Treme, the Carnival spirit isn't limited to only New Orleans, as Nelson and Annie are both in Washington D.C. for a Mardi Gras Ball. Nelson is, of course,...

Washington -- The Congressional Black Caucus will honor Whitney Houston with a resolution that will be sent to Houston's family in time for the late singer's funeral on Saturday, according to Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), chairman of the caucus.
The measure won't be the same kind of resolution that would normally go before the House and get voted on, he said. Instead, the document will come directly from the CBC and go directly to Houston's family, signed only by caucus members, at the family's request.
"It will probably look pretty official. Like you can buy downstairs," Cleaver told The Huffington Post, apparently referring to decorative documents sold in the basement of the Capitol complex. "I mean, it's not going to be shabbily sent to the family."
Cleaver said Houston's family asked that the caucus send something for the funeral. A spokeswoman for the caucus said later that...

Harry Connick Jr.’s name is pretty much synonymous with his hometown New Orleans, which is why American Girl, the popular doll and book series now celebrating its 25th anniversary, reached out to him to pen the first original tune associated with the brand. “A Lot Like Me” is inspired by American Girl’s two new colorblind characters from 1850s New Orleans, Cécile and Marie-Grace. Even better, Connick’s 13-year-old daughter Kate sings the song, which is available exclusively on iTunes, and all proceeds from downloads go to benefit the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music, which opens Aug. 25 in the New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village,...
