Naked and Afraid contestants suffer through a lot if they want to win the show. One thing that they have to contend with is that they are naked. This means that every part of their body is at risk and nothing is protected as they traverse through the wilderness settings. This came back to bite one cast member who suffered an injury “down below.”
This is also the second time that he injured himself in the same spot. The first came one year ago. Here is what you need to know.
Naked and Afraid Suffers Second Injury In A Year
When contestants go on Naked and Afraid, they know there is a strong risk of injury. Hurt feet, broken bones, rashes, and burns are all common when people are traveling through the wilderness trying to survive. However, one contestant suffered his second injury in a spot where no man wants to deal with pain.

Naked and Afraid Xl has brought back 12 returning survivalists and sent them on a 40-day journey through the wilderness. One of these returning stars is Nathan Martinez. The survivalist was starting his journey with the rest of the competitors this season and had something important to tell them.
Here is what Nathan had to say and why it is so important for him to share.
Naked And Afraid Xl’s Nathan Martinez Reveals Medical Diagnosis
The difference between Naked and Afraid Xl and the regular Naked and Afraid series is the length of the challenge. While the original series is a 21-day challenge, Xl is a 40-day challenge that promises to be “soul-breaking.” This new Discovery Channel series sees monkey swarms, swimming snakes, ticks, jaguars, parasites, and more.
The people coming on the show are in danger for most of the series, and the trailer shows that medics are called...

It’s funny that a movie that’s a love letter to the unsung heroes behind our favorite movies succeeds mostly due to the star wattage of two A-Listers. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are a delight to watch in the otherwise sweet, but standard, action-romance-comedy The Fall Guy. Not every ingredient works, but you might miss it thanks to the commitment and charm of Gosling and Blunt. The Fall Guy is a strong way to kick off summer movie blockbuster season...

Billy Dee Williams was present at a screening of Lady Sings the Blues for a Q&a as part of a tribute to him at the TCM Film Festival. It wouldn’t be a trip to the TCM Film Festival if I didn’t catch some of the great romances of yesteryear.
In particular, the enemies to lovers romantic comedy troupe was alive and well. Ernst Lubitsch’s The Shop Around the Corner provides the foundation for this trope. Decades later, Doris Day and Rock Hudson would use this dynamic to great success in many collaborations, including the bonkers comedy Send Me No Flowers. Romance isn’t all fun and games though. The Billie Holliday biopic Lady Sings the Blues borrows less from the biopic genre and focuses more on the troubled relationship between Holliday (Diana Ross) and Louis McKay.
Did all these pairs sell us on their celluloid love?...

Will Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser win the Emmy for his work on Apple TV+'s Black Bird?
Emmy voters spread the wealth quite a bit in the Limited Series/TV Movie section of their ballots. When Abe covered the Drama Supporting races only four shows filled the sixteen (!) available slots. The same Supporting Categories for limited series bring us eight shows with only fourteen slots to fill.
Both Beef and Welcome to Chippendales have three nominated supporting performances. Meanwhile, the following shows have two actors represented between the two categories - Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Black Bird. These races welcomed in a healthy mix of newcomers (six nominees received their first acting Emmy nomination) alongside three previous Emmy winners. Will the newcomers overthrow the proven winners? Let’s take a look at the categories and their submissions...

Emmys voting closed yesterday, but it will be a while before we know who our winners are.
Currently, the Primetime Emmys are scheduled for Monday, January 15th on Fox. The Creative Arts Emmys will take place the weekend before on Saturday, January 6th and Sunday, January 7th, with an edited version of the ceremony airing on Fxx on Saturday, January 13th on Fox. The reason for the push is the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes, which The Film Experience stands with the striking members.
Since voting has closed, there’s nothing more that nominees or studios can do to curry votes or campaign. We’re in a holding period. That doesn’t mean the coverage will stop, but it does mean we can space it out more before we head into Oscar madness.
Expect weekly category analyses across the comedy, drama and limited series/TV movie fields each Tuesday,...

Who’s ready to get emotional? Season one of Heartstopper won raves for bringing to life the acclaimed graphic novels, which present a coming-of-age queer love story between the nerdy and shy Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and the sensitive jock Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). Alice Oseman’s tale does a wonderful job of capturing the butterflies and emotions of falling in love for the first time, while centering it within the anxieties of coming out and defining one’s sexuality. Though it's meant to appeal to a teen audience, Heartstopper excels at placing adults back in their teenage years, where every text and fleeting glance can feel like an earth-shattering event.
Season two has not lost any of the magic. In so many ways, it examines what happens after “happily ever after” in teen worlds. Charlie got the guy that he wanted, but anxieties and hangups don’t vanish after one triumph.

Could continued fervor for the Oscars that awarded Everything Everywhere All At Once lead to an Emmy win for the Oscars ceremony?
The Academy may hand out awards, but they also compete for them! The Oscars regularly compete at the Emmys in the Variety Special categories, having won 7 Emmys from 68 nominations over the past 10 years. This flies in the face of the common joke that the Oscars are regularly the most maligned awards show on the block. Still, Hollywood's big show has never won the Variety Special (Live) prize, nor the Special Class Program award before it. This year’s Oscars got above average reviews, including from The Film Experience. It contends in four categories, including Directing (which it has won twice previously).
Could a strong show and a great winner with Everything Everywhere All At Once propel the Oscars to a big Emmys win?...

This is the summer of "Barbenheimer". What started as a rivalry has morphed into a marketable double feature. In a way, they’ve hyped each other up, making this past weekend (July 21st-July 23rd) the most exciting and anticipated movie weekend of the summer. Both movies exist at opposite poles of the gendered film divide to a comical degree - the hot pink colored Barbie against king of the film-bros Christopher Nolan and his three hour 70mm extravaganza, Oppenheimer. The ultimate winner is the audience, who get two big-budget auteur-driven swings in one weekend. (Barbie won but both movies had huge opening weekends which will talk about tonight when the actuals come in)
This isn’t the only time counterprogramming has pitted a “boy movie” and “girl movie” against each other for a star-studded showdown. Here are our top 10 box office showdowns that served as fabulous precursors for Barbenheimer.

The most joyfully surprising Emmy nomination of the year was a writing nod for The Other Two. This is the first (and unfortunately last) Emmy nomination for the uproarious satire. It was recently canceled amid workplace complaints towards creators Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider. As Team Experience team noted, The Other Two is one of the more underrated shows in the past few years. It started at Comedy Central before moving to Max, nee HBO, for seasons two and three.
A lone writing nomination at the Emmys for an underappreciated show is actually somethign of a tradition. Why is this one special and what other fan-favorite shows managed a similar feat? Read on...

How often can one person stumble into a murder? This question plagues the comedy Only Murders In The Building, though it has the conceit of a murder podcast to justify it. Season one of The Afterparty has a similar problem to solve but it won many fans thanks to its multi-genre Rashomon style while capitalizing on the murder mystery craze of the moment between The White Lotus and Knives Out. Still, the modular design of the show - changing tone every episode - kept it from being a runaway success like its fellow murder mystery projects.
Season two presents a brand new mystery, but the same episode structure. Does it work better the second time around?...

For the first time, all members of the Roy family earned Emmy nominations, including eldest brother Connor, played by Alan Ruck.
When the Emmys fall for a show, they fall hard. Despite having over 100 categories, the Television Academy nominates less and less series each year. As Abe covered Thursday night and Team groused about a bit in their reactions, four shows racked up over 20 nominations each this year, up from three last year. Three of those four shows won Series prizes last year. The fourth (The Last of Us) competes this year for its first season. A year over year increase is a strong sign that momentum is on a show’s side. You can defeat a previous winner or stage a coup if you can leverage a large nomination haul to gain a foothold and mount an aggressive campaign. But campaigning will be mostly out the...

The Team was particularly excited for the four nominations for Jury Duty.
No one loves awards shows more than The Film Experience team. Loving an award show doesn’t mean nomination morning is happy. You take the lumps of coal with the bright, shiny surprises. There was plenty to like this year at the Emmys, and about as much to complain about as well. After all, there are more than 100 categories, even if most of them went to Succession.

The Emmy nominations have arrived, and a few shows have a lot to be happy about. Succession earned a whopping 27 nominations for its final season, only 5 nominations behind the record-holder for most nominations in a given year (Game of Thrones). The good news only continued for HBO, as two other shows from the network earned over 20 nominations (The Last of Us - 24 nominations; The White Lotus - 23 nominations). Some categories were completely dominated by HBO, such as the Supporting Actor in a Drama category, which sports four men from Succession up against 4 men from The White Lotus.
On the comedy front, the incumbent Apple TV+ winner Ted Lasso that many pundits thoughts was fading instead ruled the day with 21 nominations. Right behind it was a previous winner The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 14 nominations and a pair of new shows - The Bear with 13 nominations and Wednesday with 12 nominations.

Just this past year, Julia Garner won an Emmy for one of her two nominations that year.
When the Emmys fall for you, they fall hard. Many actors find that success in one role helps them pop up in other categories, namely guest acting. Some examples include Laurie Metcalf, Bill Hader and Sterling K. Brown. Receiving multiple nominations can also be a positive sign towards a potential win, as was the case for Julia Garner last year when she won for Ozark and was also nominated for Inventing Anna. As Sally Field once said “you like me, you really like me.”
Many famous and emerging faces have submitted themselves in multiple categories. Some will definitely get the double-dip treatment, likely on their way to a big win. Which actors have the best shot at double-dipping this year when the nominations are announced...?...

We are at an inflection point with the Emmys this year. Three previous winners are coming to an end this season, and a few series nominees who have waited patiently for their time at the top are in play. Still, many shows have won big time at the Emmys for their final seasons. The Sopranos and Breaking Bad coasted on acclaim for sticking their landing. Even shows like Friday Night Lights and The Americans finally won key awards for fantastic final seasons after never receiving Emmy acclaim before then. Having a strong ending isn’t even necessary sometimes. Game of Thrones was able to coast to a final win, despite a poorly reviewed ending.
With shows like Succession, Ted Lasso, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Barry and Better Call Saul all ending this Emmy season, which will take the crown?...

For a movie with iconic nude scenes, the costumes of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) are just as memorable and titillating. It’s fitting that the Oscars honored the incredible work of costume designers Ann Roth and Gary Jones for the film, which should’ve shown up in more categories than the five it was nominated for. Though the actual Oscar went to Lindy Hemming’s period-specific and gloriously gaudy work in Topsy-Turvy, we’re still cheering on the sidelines for Ripley.
Let's count down the 10 queerest looks from the movie...

If the first two days of the TCM festival were dominated by bad boys fighting the establishment, day 3 was all about the movie musical. Out of the four films I screened today, three were musicals from different eras. It was a fantastic example of the breadth and depth the genre has to offer.
Today was also the day of big stars. For the first screening, Shari Belafonte had a discussion with TCM host and Academy Museum programmer Jacqueline Stewart. Later on in the same room, Ann-Margret arrived and blew out a birthday cake inspired by her legs. Then, right before a screening of Carmen Jones, legendary film historian Donald Bogle was awarded the Robert Osborne award for achievement in classic film preservation... ...

Day two of TCM includes more of the same. More Burt Lancaster, more sweaty and handsome outlaws and plenty of indelible moments. The sun came out, but the stars of yesteryear shined bright on the silver screen. Wanting to feel old today? As part of the Warner Brothers at 100 series, Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake Ocean’s Eleven was screened at the festival, with Soderbergh and George Clooney in attendance. Yes, the 2001 remake played at a classic film festival!
There were plenty of high profile screenings today, plus exhibits that took attendees on a journey through WB’s history, Looney Toons at the Oscars and films banned in the South. Once again, we were able to catch a couple of very different stone cold classics...

The only thing more disasterous than a gang of bikers or a bomb threat on a plane is light rain in Los Angeles. All joking aside, it's always great to return to the Hollywood and Highland center for another year of the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival.
The festival was kicked off with a red carpet screening of a freshly restored Rio Bravo, with Steven Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson and Angie Dickinson as special guests. The opening night film is part of WB's 100 year anniversary, which will be a theme of the weekend with many of the celebrations. TV is embracing the musical. Just this week, two new musical series premiered on different streaming services - season two of Schmigadoon (now tackling 60s/70s darker musicals) on Apple TV+ and Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies on Paramount+. Both series use previous musical IP as a launching pad for new stories, one a parody and one an “origin story.” While the level of success varies between the shows, it is wonderful to see new musicals with original songs streaming on our TVs in the same week...

Some episodes of TV are above and beyond the show’s they’re housed in. Season four, episode three of Succession raised an already strong show to new heights. A twist early enough in the episode sets the final season in a new direction and gives Emmy-ready tapes for its crew of actors.
In full honesty, I was working on an article about Succession jumping the shark. A once dynamic series which captivated audiences and critics was just spinning its wheels tossing business jargon and curses into an incomprehensible word salad.
