Exclusive: Harvardwood announced its Writers Competition winners and award for Most Staffable TV Writers. Now in its 18th year, the renowned competition has experienced exciting growth in submissions to the Feature category.
Notably, last year’s feature winner has returned to win once more with a new project. The TV category is headlined by writers from the Harvardwood Writers Program, which has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic and has expanded its global participation. The writers will be mentored by leading TV and film professionals, read by top producers, and considered for representation at established agencies and management companies.
“We are proud to elevate these talented writers and to build on our track record as a source of and resource to diverse and compelling artists of all experience levels,” says Harvardwood founder Mia Riverton Alpert.

Exclusive: Harvardwood on Wednesday announced Madi Stine, Anthony Zonfrelli and Warner James Wood as the winners of their 17th Writers Competition, also naming Wood as their Most Staffable TV Writer for 2023. Stine and Zonfrelli tied for first place in the Feature category, with their respective projects Emery & Ellsworth Make A Picture and Short Time, with Wood’s F**kboi topping TV.

The official arts, media and entertainment alumni organization for Harvard University, Harvardwood looks to spotlight talented up-and-coming writers from diverse backgrounds and to connect them with mentors, as well as producers, agencies and management companies.
Writer-producers participating in this year’s program as mentors include Carlton Cuse (Lost), Mark Goffman (The Umbrella Academy), Teresa Hsiao (Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens), Colleen McGuinness (Life & Beth) and Jeff Melvoin (Killing Eve).

Open House is a Lionsgate Home Entertainment acquisition, which now has some poster art showing the principal actors, Brian Geraghty, Rachel Blanchard, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, above a mysterious, dilapidated house. This film had a world premiere a the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival (Uhm) and this film, involving incestous, home-invading syblings, will go straight to DVD in January, 2011. If you’ve seen HBO’s “True Blood” TV show, you might have figured that there could easily be something between its two leads, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, who plays the human waitress and her lover vampire, respectively on the show. CBS is looking to put a fresh spin on the primetime soap opera genre with Red Doors, from Paramount Network Television and executive producer Steve Tao. The project, which has received a script commitment from the network, is a soap about a suburban Chinese-American family with three daughters. Red Doors is based on the award-winning indie film, the feature debut of writer-director Georgia Lee. Lee is on board to pen the pilot script. She also will serve as a producer alongside the film's producers Mia Riverton, who also co-stars in the movie, and Jane Chen.
