Fans of Elden Ring are having a field day with all their theories and speculations ever since FromSoftware abruptly chose to release a story trailer for the game’s upcoming Dlc. One of these particular theories goes over how one of the previous Elden Lords might just be the cause behind omens being shunned from the golden grace.
Morgott, The Omen King | A still from Elden Ring gameplay
We are talking about none other than Godfrey, the first Elden Lord and former husband of Queen Marika, the ruler of the Lands Between. It was the union between Marika and Godfrey that resulted in the birth of Morgott and Mohg, the two demigod omens we encounter in the game, and fans are guessing they have finally caught on to the root cause of their despair.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the story trailer for Elden Ring‘s first and only planned Dlc, Shadow of the Erdtree, released today out of nowhere. Naturally, FromSoftware fans have started eagerly dissecting every detail in every frame of the trailer.
While it offers a glimpse into the Dlc’s story – centered around demigods Miquella and Messmer the Impaler – a new theory has emerged regarding the potential connection between the expansion and Godwyn the Golden, another demigod whose tragic end domino’d the base game’s events.
The Trailer Shows Miquella At The Beginning, Or Does It?
The trailer alludes to this being Miquella, but it matches Godwyn’s description as well | FromSoftware
In typical FromSoftware fashion, the trailer reveals more about the core conflict of the Dlc, but in a highly confusing, extremely verbose fashion. It shows Miquella (perhaps not) sacrificing himself to confront a fiery threat embodied by Messmer the Impaler.

The classic horror franchise The Omen has been lying dormant ever since the failed television series “Damien” back in 2016, but the evil returns this year in The First Omen.
The brand new prequel movie from 20th Century Studios will unleash hell in theaters on April 5, 2024, and as promised, the first official trailer has debuted online this morning.
Watch the trailer for The First Omen below, which comes along in the wake of four installments in the original franchise, a 2006 remake, and the aforementioned television series.
“To control those who don’t believe,” the trailer teases of the new movie’s approach, “create something to fear.” The film seems to be about the birth of Damien, the devil child from the original classic, though we could be witnessing the rise of a different force of evil altogether. This first look is surprisingly retro and restrained in its approach – as is the...

Baloji, the Belgian-Congolese rapper, explores a familiar set of themes with an artful and impressionistic touch in his directorial debut Omen (Augure).
Premiering in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, the magical-realist drama tackles displacement and belonging through four characters who’ve been ostracized by their communities. The musician pulls from his personal experiences and uses a visual language honed in his short films, like 2018’s Zombies, to craft a beguiling tale.
The journey begins with Koffi (Marc Zinga), a young Congolese man living in Europe with his white fiancée Alice (Lucie Debay). We see him preparing for an upcoming trip to Democratic Republic of Congo, where he hopes to amend his relationship with his family. Koffi’s birthmark — a large Rorschach-esque blot — frightened his mother, Mujila (a sharp Yves-Marina Gnahoua), when he came out of the womb. She labeled him a sorcerer and sent him to Europe.

Editor’s Note: This review originally published during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Utopia will release “Omen” in theaters Friday, April 12.
One of the innumerable tragedies that have resulted from the decades-long strife in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the suffocation of any kind of national cinema. For most of this century, the nation’s capital, Kinshasa, has not even had a film theater; due to chronic funding difficulties and the instability that plagues much of the country, the handful of non-documentary features about Congo that emerge are largely financed by foreign players.
“Omen,” the feature debut by hip-hopper-turned-filmmaker Baloji, is a Belgian, Dutch, and Congolese co-production, and even as it offers a deeply felt look at Congolese customs, sensibilities, and family dynamics, it foregrounds its own European perspective. What results is an intriguingly ambivalent reckoning with Baloji’s mother country, a genre-hopping, beautifully slippery exploration of Congolese belief systems...
