Diana Sanchez is a filmmaker, producer and curator born in Mexico City and raised in California. She produces films illustrating abstract experiences of war, migration and identity. Her work ranges from documentary films about the veteran experience to experimental films challenging the traditional forms of cinema. Stemming from her background and expertise on experimental cinema, Diana is an advocate of artist-made, non-commercial, short form cinema. Diana graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Cinema.
She has participated and judged at international prestigious film festivals such as San Francisco International Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, San Francisco Latino Film Festival, San Francisco Cinematheque and Sundance Film Festival. Diana is also co-founder and curator of The Archive Project at SFSU's School of Cinema where she advocates for film preservation, archiving literacy and brings historic and cultural insight to the yearly programming.
Her work as a curator can also be seen in the innovative shorts film platform, Argo Short Films. As a filmmaker, Diana has introduced her groundbreaking work at international festivals and venues such as ULTRACinema (Mexico), Prague International Indie Film Festival (Czech Republic), Other Cinema (San Francisco), SFFILM (San Francisco), Bogota Experimental Film Festival (Colombia), Dumbo Film Festival (NYC). In additions, her films are streaming in platforms such as Argo Shorts Films, Movimcat, Kanopy and all public libraries and universities via Alexander Street/ProQuest. Diana currently lives between Mexico City and the Bay Area.
