Fernanda Dias is a Brazilian director and cinematographer currently based in São Paulo. She studied film at FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado), and graduated in 2019, with a Bachelor 's degree. Before that, she studied drama and worked as an actress for several years, which contributed to her path work as a director.
She has directed, DP'd and edited several commercials, music videos and fashion films, with an eye towards bringing a cinematic experience to the viewer. She believes in the power of telling everyday life stories that balance both naturalism and symbolism.
In 2022 she released her independent short "Let The Sea Take Me", which she also wrote and produced. The film premiered at Cine Gear Expo in Los Angeles and was among the finalists for "Best Independent Short Film" (2022). It also collected awards for "Best Experimental Short" from Venice Shorts and the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards.
Fernanda is currently working on her next short film, "Yaga", which is a tragicomic road trip movie based on an unlikely friendship between a teenage girl and an older woman who is convinced she is going to die soon.
