(Read our minute-by-minute recap.) Ultimately, after nearly 19 million votes were cast, host Ryan Seacrest announced that the pair of singers who were eliminated prior to next week’s Top 5 episode were McKenna Faith Breinholt and Julia Gagnon. Cue the fan outrage!
Throughout the competition, McKenna belted out tunes like “There Was Jesus” (Auditions round), “Anyone” (Showstopper round), “The Story” (Top 24 round), “Both Sides, Now” & “Tumbleweed” (Top 20 round), “Hard to Say I’m Sorry” (Top 14 round), “cardigan” (Top 12 round), “Iris” (Top 10 round), “Everywhere I Go” (Top 8 round) and “E.T.” & “Make You Feel My Love” (Top 7 round). The 25-year-old esthetician from Gilbert, Az initially went viral on “Idol” when her adopted family and her birth family surprised her at her audition, creating a rather emotional moment for everyone involved.

Peacock is ready to get Laid.
The NBCUniversal-backed streamer has handed out a straight-to-series order for Laid, a comedy starring Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and from writers Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna.
Khan (Young Rock, Always Be My Maybe) and McKenna (Son of Zorn) are writing and exec producing the series for Universal Television, where the former’s Fierce Baby is based with an overall deal.
Laid revolves around a woman who finds out that her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go back through her “sex timeline” to confront her past in order to move forward. Peacock says Laid is a “f—ked up rom-com where the answer to ‘Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?’ is a resounding ‘Yes. There is. The problem is definitely you.’”

Mary Lou Retton says she’s “blessed” and “grateful” to be alive after being diagnosed with a rare form of pneumonia that put her in the ICU and had her children at one point “saying their goodbyes to me.”
The former U.S. Olympic gymnast and gold medalist opened up about a near-deadly health scare that saw her nearly put on life support. It was an ordeal made all the more challenging by Retton’s lack of insurance.
During a 10-minute sit down with Today‘s Hoda Kotb, Retton revealed that following a divorce, and more than 30 orthopedic surgeries and other conditions classified by insurance as pre-existing, she was unable to afford her own health care as she was struck with a still unidentified form of pneumonia that saw her family and medical team discussing putting her on a ventilator.
“I mean, when you face death in the eyes — I...

[This story contains mild spoilers for Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale season five and Peacock’s A Friend of the Family.]
The day The Handmaid’s Tale released its season five finale, Mckenna Grace, who stars in the Hulu series as Esther Keys, decided to share something personal.
Along with a video of herself in recovery from a spinal surgery, Grace took to social media to thank her surgeon and reveal how life imitated art when, weeks earlier, she watched her handmaid character lying in a hospital bed while she, in real-time, was in a hospital bed. “Social media only reflects what we want people to know — often we don’t see the ugly, hard, less-flattering sides of a person and their life,” she wrote, in part, with a promise to soon elaborate further.
