The promotion follows the exit of Damon Wolf as chief marketing officer for the studio’s film group in March. The announcement was made by Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group and follows Liston leading the studio’s marketing department since Wolf’s departure.

Essentially, Lionsgate has committed to a green light on a film with a budget in the $30 million range, with Kelly Fremon Craig directing her scripted adaptation and Gracie Films’ James L. Brooks producing. Sony Pictures has promoted Marisa Liston to Executive Vice President of Domestic Publicity of the Motion Picture Group, the company has announced. Liston will oversee and develop publicity strategies for all feature film releases from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation and will report to Andre Caraco, Sony’s Co-President of Marketing.
A 15-year veteran of the studio, Liston most recently served as Senior Vice President of National Publicity and has worked on a large number of Sony films among them the surprise R-rated animated hit Sausage Party as well as Sony’s other collaborations with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg including The Interview, This Is the End, Pineapple Express, and Superbad.
