Newcastle United have made a bid for Barnsley’s Mason Holgate as they attempt to hijack Bournemouth’s attempt to land the 18-year-old’s signature, according to the Daily Mail.
Eddie Howe’s side are in the process of agreeing terms with the defender and are close to signing him for around £1 million.
The Mail have reported that Everton are also monitoring the highly-rated youngster and have made a late bid for Holgate who has been training with Manchester United recently.
The Cherries are said to have been given permission to discuss personal terms with the Doncaster-born defender today but he has gathered the attention of a host of Premier League clubs.
The Magpies are hoping that a late-bid could bring the versatile player to St James’ Park as they look to improve on their ageing defence.

The performance of an actor playing a villainous role can sometimes be the most interesting part of the film. This is an in-depth look at some of those performances which were awarded with an Oscar.
To get a good character in film, you have to develop that character. The audience needs to see the world through their eyes in order to understand their perspective and motivations. This is especially true with villains, which are arguably more difficult to develop than a traditional protagonist. Often times villains are given the short end of the characterization stick in any given film, which makes sense. It’s not easy making an action that could hurt or harm other people seem logical, so many films don’t put much effort into it. The audience recognizes a villain when they see one, and they know he is bad because of his actions, no matter how questionable they may be.

var brightcovevideoid = '2836257160001'; Did Jordan Graham blindfold her newlywed husband, Cody Lee Johnson, before allegedly shoving him off a cliff to his death in Montana's Glacier National Park? That's what federal prosecutors believe happened, according to a new court filing by Graham's defense team. "In support of this new theory, the government is awaiting DNA test results being run on a piece of cloth found on a shoal in the river in the same general vicinity as where Cody's body was recovered," says the motion by Michael Donahoe, a senior litigator with the Montana federal defender's office. But it's...

A newlywed wife with doubts about her 8-day-old marriage confessed she pushed her husband face-first off a cliff in Glacier National Park, then lied about his death and told authorities he had driven off with friends, court documents said. Jordan Linn Graham, 22, appeared Monday in federal court in Missoula, Mont., on a second-degree murder charge in Johnson's July 7 death. Her attorney,...

"Dexter's" fourth episode this season is titled "Run," after a note left by serial killer Speltzer when he finds himself trapped in the Minotaur's maze.
"I don't run," Dexter (Michael C. Hall) says. "I make people run."
Does that include his sister, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), now that she knows he's a serial killer?
Bloodbath: Deb is certainly having trouble coping. Finding herself in a bloody bathtub in a gruesome dream, she realizes his link to the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) and blames Dexter for Rita's murder. She also suggests that he send his son Harrison away and unfairly blames him for the fact that she almost became one of Speltzer's victims. (Dex does indeed send Harrison to Orlando, but only temporarily. We hope, because his nostalgia over Harrison's little Lambie proves that Dex is more human than he -- or Deb -- thinks.)
The Closer: Deb has good cause to be frustrated,...
