After The Traitors took the world by storm, high concept reality shows which aren’t about dating are hot property.
The Underdog: Josh Must Win is the latest bingeable reality show “with a twist” and it appears to be setting itself up as a series which pierces the image of the typical reality contestant in favour of elevating an average bloke called Josh, who is neither especially handsome, nor polished, nor confident and therefore is not what we have come to expect from such shows. It’s pitched as a nicer brand of reality show. But is it, really?
The set up is this: nine contestants think they are on a popularity contest called “The Favourite”, but secretly they are actually in a show called “Josh Must Win” and are being manipulated off screen by four “celebrities” – presenter Nick Grimshaw and former reality stars Vicky Pattison, Amber Gill and Pete Wicks...

Love Island star Ikenna Ekwonna has admitted that he made more money before appearing on the reality show.
While love is the aim of the game on the ITV2 dating show, the success of former contestants such as Molly-Mae Hague and Amber Gill has led many to apply for the show in the hope of cashing in on lucrative influencer advertising deals and brand partnerships.
However, appearing on the Channel 4 documentary Life After Love Island, 2022 contestant Ekwonna said that his experiences post-show haven’t been all he hoped they would be.
The 23-year-old worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep before quitting his job, but said the money he made through content and advertising in his first three months after appearing on the show, amounted to between £3,000 and £4,000.
According to the show, this was “less than half than what he was earning” before appearing on Love Island, with Ekwonna admitting...

Celebrity Sas: Who Dares Wins viewers spotted an uncanny lookalike of UK prime minister Liz Truss during the series finale on Sunday (16 October).
The Channel 4 reality show’s finale saw stars including EastEnders’ Maisie Smith, Strictly Come Dancing’s Aj Pritchard and Towie’sFerne McCann all pass the intense Special Air Services screening process.
But many fans of the show were distracted by one of the Sas interrogators, who bore an uncanny resemblance to Truss.
“Has anyone noticed the interrogator on Celeb Sas bears a remarkable resemblance to Liz Truss?” one viewer wrote on Twitter.
“Liz Truss on Celebrity Sas tonight. She is a much better interrogator than she is Prime Minister,” said another.
“Is Liz Truss’ absence explained by her moonlighting as the female interrogator in Celebrity Sas: Who Dares Wins?” someone else joked.
On the season finale of the show, Calum Best, as well as Smith, Pritchard and McCann,...

Fox has greenlit an American version of “Sas: Who Dares Wins,” an unscripted format from the U.K. The U.S. version has been given the working title “Special Forces: The Ultimate Test,” and features 16 celebrity contestants who are put through a set of challenges meant to emulate special forces training camp.
The news came ahead of the network’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s virtual summer 2022 press tour.
Dubbed “the ultimate celebrity social experiment” by Fox, “Special Forces: The Ultimate Test” will feature NFL vet Danny Amendola, who won two Super Bowl titles with New England; Spice Girl Mel B.; former “The Bachelorette” Hannah Brown; TV chef Tyler Florence; reality personality Kate Gosselin; NBA champ Dwight Howard; R&b singer and pastor Montell Jordan; skier Gus Kenworthy; gymnast Nastia Liukin; soccer star Carli Lloyd; “7th Heaven” actor Beverley Mitchell; “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore...

A motorcyclist who died after crashing with a car driven by Kem Cetinay was in a “head-on collision” with the Love Island star’s vehicle, an inquest has heard.
Thomas Griggs, 28, died from his injuries 40 minutes after the crash at Shepherds Hill in Romford, on 4 August, East London Coroner’s Court was told.
Cetinay, who won season three of Love Island in 2017, stopped his car at the scene and was not arrested. He has been helping officers with their inquiries as police investigate the circumstances of the incident.
A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be multiple injuries and blunt-force trauma, coroner Graeme Irvine said.
“It is said the motor vehicle, that was a car, was travelling westbound and the motorcycle was travelling eastbound,” Irvine told the court.
“It is said this was a head-on collision between the two vehicles.”
The coroner added that a “suspect” had been identified by police.

A TV network has apologised after its CEO made offensive remarks about Emilia Clarke.

Amber Gill, a former Love Island winner, has said she “accidentally came out” in a recent Twitter post.
Gill was tweeting during an episode of the ITV2 reality show’s latest series, when she told her followers “switching teams was the best decision I made in my life”.
She commented that watching the male contestants made her “feel ill”, writing: “I couldn’t put myself through it again.”
After the media reported on her tweets, Gill played her comments down, calling them “lighthearted”.
However, she has now said that, while the post was an “off the cuff comment”, she “meant exactly what I said”.
Appearing on Access All Areas on Fubar Radio, host Stephen Leng asked Gill if the post was her way of making an announcement about her sexuality, to which she replied: “Accidentally, yeah. I remember looking at [the tweet] and thinking, ‘S***, what have I said?’”
Gill continued: “A...

When Love Island USA's second season began, I was apprehensive about a lot of things, including the future of the sole Black woman of the original cast, Justine Ndiba. Reality TV doesn't have a great history when it comes to the treatment of Black women in general, but Love Island has an especially grim past when it comes to Black contestants trying to find love. "We didn't find anyone who liked us. It was always someone coming in and saying 'My type is blonde and petite,'" Love Island UK's Yewande Biala told 1Xtra Talks about struggling on the show alongside winner Amber Gill, who is mixed race, and Anna Vakili, who's Iranian. "We'd just look at each other and say 'They're obviously not here for us.'"
So, when I saw Justine enter the Las Vegas villa in all her glory, I was immediately consumed by the worry...

Caroline Flack, the former host of the U.K. reality competition, “Love Island,” has died. She was 40.
“Everybody at ‘Love Island’ and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news. Caroline was a much loved member of the ‘Love Island’ team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends,” an ITV spokesperson told Variety in a statement.
Saturday night’s episode of “Love Island,” which airs daily in primetime, has been pulled in the wake of Flack’s death.
The British star first began her career as an actress on the 2002 sketch comedy show “Bo’ Selecta!” and then joined the ITV network to host shows like “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here Now!,” “The Xtra Factor,” “Minute to Win It” and “Viral Tap.” In 2014, she won the 12th season of the British dancing show “Strictly Come Dancing” with her dance partner Pasha Kovalev.

All it took to end Love Island winners Greg O'Shea and Amber Gill's relationship was a simple phone call. Yep, that's right. It's been a mere 39 days and the winners of season four have already called it quits. In an interview with The Late Late Show, the rugby player reveals that he and the Brit parted ways over the phone, contrary to rumors that he broke it off over text. "This whole thing about a text isn't true. People just want to sell stories," he insists. Nonetheless, fans are still up in arms over the fact that Greg is willing to call it quits on a girl that he is "mad" about...
