The much-awaited return of the ghost detectives on the silver screen is finally available on Netflix, and the fans seem to love it. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the Netflix series is created by Steve Yockey and it follows the story of two ghost detectives who decide not to ascent to their afterlives to stay on Earth and investigate the crimes involving the supernatural. Dead Boy Detectives exists in the same universe as Netflix’s hit DC fantasy drama series The Sandman, and while it is different from The Sandman in its story and visuals, the Dead Boy Detectives seem to be connecting with the fans. So, if you loved the charm and supernatural shenanigans in Dead Boy Detectives here are some similar shows you should check out next.

Deba Hakmat is impressively subtle as a British-Iranian teen whose celebrations come unstuck
Sasha Nathwani is a UK-based director of award-winning short films, of Iranian and Indian heritage, stepping up here to his feature debut. It opens the Generation strandin Berlin and is a sweet-natured, heartfelt and earnestly acted film; a little precious maybe, but saved from emo-sentimentalism by irreverent humour and a wittily self-aware final image of his leading actor’s face.
Last Swim is the story of Ziba, played by Deba Hakmat, an Iranian-British teen who has just stormed her A-levels and landed a place at University College London to read astrophysics; this is despite a certain attitude on the part of her interviewer who shows, if not microaggression, then microcondescension, pointedly asking if any other members of Ziba’s family ever studied this subject. Ziba has got intricately detailed plans for her and her 6th form mates...

The live-action Titans series had tremendous potential, from its source material to the pedigrees of the talent bringing the heroes to television. Titans failed to work from the first episode to the last. As a television series, it needed a bigger budget for better effects, and the caliber of actors needed to be stronger to pull off these larger-than-life personalities.
Most of the storylines were drawn from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal run from the early 1980s or the early issues from Geoff Johns and Mike McKone’s run in the 2000s. Both required a consistent tonality along with a budget to make the scope of the stories work.
In the fourth and final series, out now on disc from Warner Home Entertainment, the series tackled both Lex Luthor and Brother Blood. Either one could easily have been the Big Bad for these last dozen episodes, but they split the focus and,...

Four years ago, it was announced that Ben Wheatley would be writing, directing, and executive producing Generation Z, a “hilarious, frightening, and political” series that would consist of six hour-long episodes that would “mix flesh-eating zombies into a story that satirizes how Brexit has divided the UK.” That project didn’t make it into production when it was originally supposed to because of the pandemic shutdown… but after making his latest film Meg 2: The Trench (you can read our review at This Link and check out our interview with the filmmaker Here), Wheatley has circled back around to Generation Z and is now knee-deep into filming it! To celebrate the fact that Generation Z is finally being made, Channel 4 has unveiled a batch of first look images, and you can check those out at the bottom of this article.

Kill List, Free Fire, and High-Rise director Ben Wheatley announced plans for the Brexit zombie series “Generation Z” for UK’s Channel 4 back in 2019. UK broadcaster Channel 4 has unveiled first look images at the six-part series, along with its cast.
Channel 4 describes the series as a “coming-of-age parable for our very strange times – cut with a heavy dose of outlandish gore.” Check out the first look images below.
The plot for the six-part series: “In a small British town, tensions come to a head when a mysterious military convoy crashes outside the Sunnywise Retirement Home. The vehicles were carrying a toxic substance, which, as a result of the crash, leaks into the local environment and infects the residents of the retirement community. The symptoms of this infection quickly manifest – an overwhelming appetite for raw flesh. They’re old, they’re angry and they’re on the rampage. As the...

Ben Wheatley’s zombie series Generation Z is building its bite.
UK broadcaster Channel 4 has unveiled a first look at the six-part series, which is currently being filmed in Wales by The Forge, the outfit that produced Help and Roadkill.
Generation Z, Wheatley’s first TV series, boasts a cast including Robert Lindsay (Wimbledon), Sue Johnston (Downton Abbey), and Anita Dobson (Call The Midwife).

A group of teenagers are caught up in the virus when one of the gang’s grandmothers becomes infected and attacks her.
Here’s the logline: “Generation Z is about intergenerational justice and community breakdown that boldly satirizes a world where truth is stranger than fiction, exploring not just the political fault lines in our society but...

James Scully has had a string of excellent roles throughout his career.
He currently stars on Titans as Bernard. The latest episode featured a romantic twist for Bernard and Tim (Jay Lycurgo).
Check out our full interview with James below as he delves into working on the show, this new relationship, and more.
Could you speak a bit about what attracted you to Titans?
I was a big fan of the animated series when I was younger. It was probably like the first show where I felt I was waiting week to week to see the new episodes and was like googling, when is the next season going to be coming out?
I got the audition, and my people were like, is this something you would still want to do or be interested in? And when I read between the lines of where the character was going to go and...

The creator of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself has spoken out about the extreme violence and gore in the new Netflix series.
Released on Netflix on Friday (28 October), the eight-part YA series has been well-received by critics and viewers alike.
However, several reviews have made reference to the “horrifying” violence depicted in the show, which follows a teenage boy caught in the middle of a war between witches.
Based on Sally Green’s novel Half Bad, the show was adapted for the screen by writer Joe Barton.
Speaking to Radio Times, Barton discussed his reaction to the extreme violence in the series.
“I remember getting into the edit room on this and just suddenly being, like, ‘Oh s***, it’s really violent!’ I did have, like, a mild panic... like, was the audience for it?

The title’s a bit of a mouthful but it’s very much worth getting your teeth into this Netflix show, based on Sally Green’s Half Bad trilogy of books. This is nominally a YA series, but it really leans into the ‘A’ of that – it’s a coming of age story, just but one that involves sex and drugs and a massive body count with the gore dialled up to the max.
It’s also about witches, but not the nice kind. The Bastard Son follows Nathan (Jay Lycurgo), a 16-year-old whose father, Marcus Edge (David Gyasi), is the most hated and feared ‘Blood witch’ in the whole of the Fairborne witch community. Nathan’s mother was Fairborne, and when Nathan turns 17 he will discover what his power is (Fairborne have just one each) but also whether or not he is a blood witch. All very high fantasy on paper,...

Jay Lycurgo, who plays Nathan in upcoming Netflix series “The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself,” finds himself interrogated by witch Celia (Karen Connell) in a new clip from the show, shared exclusively with Variety.
In the series, which is based on the Half Bad YA series by Sally Green, Lycurgo plays the teenage, illegitimate son of Marcus, considered the world’s most dangerous witch.
At the beginning of the series, with the witch community fearing Nathan takes after his father, he is constantly monitored. In the tense scene above a witch called Celia interrogates him, asking him how he is sleeping at night, whether he has violent dreams, if he is quick to anger and whether he feels any negative feelings towards other witches – at which point she notices a bleeding cut on Nathan’s hand appear to heal up.

If there is one superhero show that has outlasted its expiration date, it may be "Titans." After three seasons, it seems the gritty affair will indefinitely struggle to land its lofty ambitions in a satisfying way. Despite some great ideas and themes, I've found myself wanting a lot more out of the series by the time the credits roll in each season finale. But here we are, another season is well on its way and approaching quicker than ever (or at least it feels like it).
Judging by the recent trailer, "Titans" may just be finding its stride in balancing zany superhero stuff and a horror-tinged storyline. However, I know what promises are worth. Expectations aren't sky-high this time around,...

With three seasons under its belt, "Titans" returns to HBO Max next month to face supernatural cults, maniacal supervillains, and a very familiar face. In anticipation of its November debut, the streaming service has released a full-length trailer that pulls the veil over the jam-packed season. Among many things, the introduction of Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver), who finds himself at the center of the Cult of Blood, as well as the live-action debut of Brother Blood (Joseph Morgan). Moreover, an antagonist from the second season finally makes his long-awaited return, and I'm personally glad he's back.
I'll let the footage of the blood-soaked trailer speak for itself, which can be seen below in its entirety.

The official trailer for Titans Season 4 is here, and it looks like a major step up from Titans Season 3.
The team goes toe-to-toe with plenty of villains, including Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver), Brother Blood (Joseph Morgan), and plenty more.
Lex is a considerable presence in the trailer as Welliver promises to deliver a different iteration of Lex.
“Welcome to the ancient world, Mr. Luthor. Soon the gods will know your name," we hear someone say.
“I can assure you — the gods already know me," Lex fires back.
Franka Potente is also on board as Mother Mayhem, and it looks like this villain came prepared.
Titans Season 4 will debut with two episodes on November 3.
A midseason finale will air Thursday, December 1, while the second batch of episodes will launch sometime in 2023.

The “Titans” trailer for its long-awaited third season features the introduction of the show’s three new characters, and a return to one very famous city.
The DC Comics series, which moved from DC Universe to HBO Max, will premiere its third season on Aug. 12.
The third season features Curran Walters, who plays Jason Todd (aka the second Robin after Dick Grayson hangs up the mantle to become Nightwing), become his more villainous alter-ego Red Hood, who wants to take over Gotham following the apparent retirement of Batman (Iain Glen). The trailer also shows the first look at Savannah Welch’s Barbara Gordon as well as (the voice of) Vincent Kartheiser’s Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow.
Additionally, Jay Lycurgo will appear as Tim Drake, the third different Robin. He is briefly spotted in the trailer, which you can watch above.
