Completed yet shelved by Warner Bros Discovery, Snowpiercer season 4 will finally get an airing thanks to a deal with AMC.
Another victim of cost-cutting at Warner Bros Discovery, sci-fi series Snowpiercer was unceremoniously scrapped in January 2023 – a decision made after production had already completed on what was planned as its fourth and final season. Snowpiercer therefore joined the likes of Batgirl and Coyote Vs Acme in a grim list of tax write-offs at the studio.
There’s now good news, however: AMC has acquired the rights to Snowpiercer, and there are now plans to stream the first three seasons on AMC+ this year, while the fourth and final season will finally stream in 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase – similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series – and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said AMC executive Ben Davis in a statement to Variety.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Snowpiercer, after all.
The post-apocalyptic drama on wheels was canceled after three seasons by TNT in January 2023, despite previously scoring a renewal for a fourth — and final — season.
At the time of the cancellation, the entirety of the fourth season was in the can, meaning that an ending had been filmed, but producers would need to find a new outlet to air the episodes.
Truthfully, we lost hope the episodes would see the light of day because it was the latest in a long line of financially driven decisions by Warner Bros. Discovery, which had already scrapped the already-completed Batgirl movie, among other things.
As the weeks turned into months, the chance of Snowpiercer securing a home to air its final-ever episodes looked bleak … until AMC stepped up to the plate this week.

TNT‘s series adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s “Snowpiercer” (which was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob) kicked off back in 2020, with three seasons aired between 2020 and 2022. Season 4 has already been filmed, but it won’t be airing on TNT. As we learned last year, TNT made the decision to cut ties with the brand entirely.
The good news? The upcoming season has been given a second chance at life.
Variety reports this afternoon that “Snowpiercer” Season 4 has been acquired by AMC – along with the previous three seasons – and it’ll finally premiere on AMC in early 2025.
Variety notes, “It had already been announced Season 4 would be the show’s last before TNT parent company Warner Bros. Discovery decided to not air Season 4 altogether in a cost-cutting move. Producer Tomorrow Studios then shopped the show to other outlets.”

Snowpiercer season 4 went into production in early 2022, and by the middle of that year, TNT had confirmed that season 4 would also be the last season of the show. That was soon after TNT owner WarnerMedia merged with Discovery Inc to form Warner Bros. Discovery… and things have been pretty wild since that merger happened, with films being scrapped as tax write-offs, content purges, and streaming service shake-ups. One of their surprising “write down strategy” moves came in January of 2023, when Warner Bros. Discovery decided they wouldn’t even bother to air Snowpiercer season 4 on TNT. The show has been searching for a new home ever since. Today, Deadline reports that it has found one: AMC.
Deadline lets us know, “The first three seasons of the show will stream on AMC+ later this year and season 4 will air on the linear network and the streaming service in early 2025.” Snowpiercer is a Tomorrow Studios production.

Patience is a virtue, especially if you're a sci-fi fan.
When it comes to genre TV, science fiction and sci-fi adjacent programs are often saved when unceremoniously dumped by a network.
Jericho, Lucifer, The Expanse, and Stargate Sg-1 all found new life after cancellation. Today, Snowpiercer joins that list.
AMC Networks announced today that it has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series Snowpiercer.
The first three seasons of the critically acclaimed drama will stream on AMC+ later this year, leading up to the series’ season four premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.
This should come as excellent news for TV Fanatics, as the show always drove discussion and fueled passionate viewers with much to say.

Snowpiercer’s final season will see the light of day after all.
AMC has picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama — including the completed but never aired fourth season. The series first aired on TNT, but the Warner Bros. Discovery network canceled the show in January 2023 as it and sister channels TBS and TruTV left the scripted business.
The first two seasons of Snowpiercer will begin streaming on AMC+ on June 1, with season three following a week later. The final season will debut July 21 on both AMC and AMC+ — a change from the network’s earlier plans to air the final season in early 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

The final season of Snowpiercer has finally found a home.
The fourth season of the sci-fi drama will air on AMC after the company acquired the rights to the Tomorrow Studios-produced series. It comes after TNT scrapped the show last year as part of a wider Warner Bros. Discovery content write down strategy.
Deadline revealed in January 2023 that the fourth season wouldn’t air on its original home, as part of a slew of content cuts that also including the axing of Batgirl, Abrams’ HBO drama Demimonde, and TBS series such as The Big D, Chad and Kill The Orange Bear.
It is the latest series that AMC has saved after being scrapped elsewhere; the network bought Captain Nemo series Nautilus after it was cut by Disney+.

“Snowpiercer” is changing showrunners going into the show’s fourth season.
Paul Zbyszewski — whose past credits include “Lost,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Helstrom” — will take the reins of the TNT series from Graeme Manson. In addition, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” alum Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are both joining the series in Season 4. The news comes the same day as the Season 3 finale. Production is now underway on Season 4.

Days after Disney announced plans for 10 new Marvel series for Disney+, its other streaming service, Hulu, has confirmed the cancellation of its live-action Marvel series Helstrom.
The move was fully expected. Helstrom comes from the now-defunct Marvel Television and is not part of Marvel Studios’ TV strategy of series integrated into the McU that run exclusively on Disney+.
As part of a multi-project deal with Marvel Television, Hulu also has two animated series that appear to be on track, at least for now.

Marvel series “Helstrom” has been canceled at Hulu after one season, Variety has learned.
The move to cancel the series was not a surprising one, as “Helstrom” was the last live-action show produced by the now defunct Marvel Television unit under Jeph Loeb. The writing may have also been on the wall due to the fact that marketing materials for “Helstrom” — including its trailer and key art — did not include the word “Marvel” despite being based on Marvel comic book characters.
The show’s cancellation serves as a muted end to Loeb’s live-action efforts at Marvel, which at one time included six shows on Netflix as well as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” on ABC, “Legion” on FX, “Cloak & Dagger” on Freeform, “The Gifted” on Fox, and “Runaways” on Hulu. All of those have either been canceled or wrapped up their runs in the past two years.

Helstrom is the latest one-and-done at Hulu.
The Marvel drama from former head of television Jeph Loeb has been axed at the Disney-backed streamer.
Helstrom was one of two live-action Marvel dramas Hulu picked up shortly after the comic book giant’s Netflix deal crumbled. The series starred Tom Austen and was from showrunner Paul Zbyszewski (Agents of Shield). The latter had his overall deal with Marvel terminated in April amid both a shift in direction and financial issues stemming from the pandemic.

“Helstrom” is a horror show without any scares, as well as a drama constrained by unconvincing acting and underwritten characters. As the darkest Marvel Cinematic Universe television show to date and the last to premiere outside the family-friendly Disney+ for the foreseeable future, there was reason to hope that “Helstrom” and showrunner Paul Zbyszewski would close this chapter of Marvel television on a high note. Unfortunately, even franchise diehards will struggle to find much value here.
“Helstrom” centers on Daimon and Ana Helstrom, estranged siblings with vaguely described supernatural powers. Daimon (Tom Austen) is an ethics professor and exorcist, while Ana is a goth, Silicon Valley-type with a fun haircut who murders criminals. The duo reunites to aid their demon-possessed mother, Victoria (Elizabeth Marvel), who has been locked away in a psychiatric facility for two decades.
What follows is part demon-exorcising procedural, part family drama, and neither are properly executed.

Hulu’s “Helstrom” might sport an elaborate mythology, but like many comic book stories, it ultimately reveals a simplistic core. Loosely based on Marvel comics characters, “Helstrom” follows Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana (Sydney Lemmon) Helstrom, two adult siblings with psychic powers and an intimate connection with the demon world. Both use their gift in different ways: Daimon teaches ethics by day and performs secular exorcisms by night, while Ana runs an auction house and kills violent offenders who slip through society’s cracks. They’re reunited when the demon that has possessed their institutionalized mother, Victoria (Elizabeth Marvel), revives the Helstrom’s long-dead serial killer father who wishes to exact his revenge. On top of this, they have to deal with the numerous demons already roaming the Earth, plotting to wreak havoc at all times.

The Helstrom panel at Comic-Con@Home opened on a somber note as stars June Carryl and Robert Wisdom revealed their own experiences of racism and how it ties into the Hulu drama.
“This show is timely because it’s about people trying to figure out who they are in the face of pure evil and that’s exactly where we are right now,” said Carryl, who plays Dr. Louise Hastings.
Carryl said that assumptions, projections, suspicion, appropriation, objectification, slurs, violation and lack of representation are a few of the “million ways you can kill someone” and revealed that she has to do a lot every time she leaves the house to feel safe.
“I am not sure why given all that it still takes watching someone die in 8 minutes and 46 seconds to finally recognise it’s all damage and it’s all the same death,” she added. “Everybody feels bad...

The Comic-Con@Home schedule — including Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 — is being announced daily through Sunday.
All times are Pacific Daylight.

Just hours after Disney Television Studios unveiled their Comic-Con@Home slate for next month, corporate cousin Hulu is now bringing the heat to the virtual fanfest.
The streamer announced that the dark and horror-filled Marvel’s Helstrom is among its offering coming to the coronavirus created online version of the annual Sdcc. With The Walking Dead franchise and The Simpsons among those already onboard, Comic-Con@Home is set to run from July 23-26.
Along with the Paul Zbyszewski EP’d Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon making its Sdcc debut, Hulu will also be bringing the Thomas Middleditch-led aliens comedy Solar Opposites and the raunchy Crossing Swords. In a case of brand double-dipping, the second season sneak peek at the Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan co-created Solar Opposites was part of the Disney TV announcement earlier today
Earlier this month, Sdcc canceled the 51st edition of their annual shindig due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

We are in Week 6 of the mass Hollywood production shutdown over the coronavirus pandemic. There has been little movement on the surface during the past couple of weeks, since the first major film and TV company, Disney, announced pay cuts and furloughs.
There have been isolated moves — ViacomCBS last week let go of contract workers, indie production companies such as Blumhouse and Annapurna laid off a handful of executives and support stuff, while Disney’s Marvel terminated a pair of overall deals. The trickle soon is expected to turn into a flood as major studios start imposing layoffs and begin suspending or terminating a significant portion of their term deals.

Hulu and Marvel have announced the ensemble cast for the upcoming series Helstrom, the story of which “follows siblings and supposed serial killer offspring Daimon Helstrom (Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Lemmon). Plagued by their family background, the Helstroms will pursue the world’s vilest of the vile — with some family drama of their own.”
Tom Austen will take on the role of Daimon and Sydney Lemmon (Fear the Walking Dead) will play Ana. They will be joined by Elizabeth Marvel, Ariana Guerra (Raising Dion), Robert Wisdom (Ballers), June Carryl (Mindhunter), and Alain Uy (The Passage).
When talking about the cast, executive producer Paul Zbyszewski said:
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a cast loaded with this much talent. From the beginning, we knew we’d need a group of actors who were multifaceted, who could play all the chords any great Marvel show promises to play, from dramatic thriller to comedy to action.
