When Bam Margera was starring in Viva La Bam and Jackass, the MTV star was hiding a secret battle with bulimia.
The 37-year-old talked about his eating disorder and alcohol addiction in an episode of Viceland’s Epicly Later’d.
His parents, April and Phil Margera, say that it started as he started partying with rock stars like Him’s Ville Valo.
“He always wanted to have this very slim, slim look,” April says. “A lot of it happened when he became good friends with Ville Valo.”
With Valo, Bam started drinking heavily.

The "Jackass" alum took a 100-foot tandem kayak jump off a waterfall in Oregon with pro kayaker Steve Fisher Wednesday and lived to tell the tale. However, he did have to undergo a hernia operation Thursday as a result.
Margera tweeted a picture from his hospital bed showing him a bit out of it and hooked up to medical machines but still giving a thumbs-up to show that he's all right. Though he was originally supposed to appear at an art show in Pennsylvania on Friday night (June 1), the 32-year-old had to cancel his plans, tweeting, "Can't make it to the show tonight, in hospital still. Take a closer look at the most diabolical villains ever captured on film and you may notice some fur poking out of the corner of the screen. Supervillains need love, too, and though they have little use for human beings -- aside from as expendable henchmen -- they save their cuddly, maternal side for their devoted pets. And through this special kind of unconditional love, the supervillains reveal their vulnerability and, ironically, their own humanity in the process.

How do you say something thoughtful about a film franchise whose entire success is based on cultivating an audience who wants nothing more than 90 minutes of thoughtless violence and crude antics? It’s not actually reflective of where American popular culture is right now, but its staying power at the box office reminds us that at one point in the reality TV movement that there was nothing audiences wanted more than to be made to squirm uneasily in their seats. Fear Factor elicited the reaction by forcing contestants to eat live insects or endure close contact with creepy crawlers. Jackass went another route, simply showing its cadre of hooligans taking crotch shots, exposing themselves to suggestive physical violence, or flinging bodily fluids about in new complex ways. It was that simple. Thus creating a film franchise that survived past even the original show’s mainstream appeal didn’t take much effort.

Now that I have seen two episodes of the Showtime original series Episodes I have to say that I can’t wait to see the other five episodes of Episodes.
The premise of the show is very simple and, even though I’ve never been in the actual television business, I’m sure it is also very real in many ways. The highly persuasive and extremely over-complimentary network president Merc Lepidus (John Pankow) approaches Sean and Beverly Lincoln (Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig) right after their show Lyman’S Boys has dominated the BAFTA Awards. He has to have their show and he promises they’ll have to do very little work to make the show more accessible to the American audience for lots and lots of money. Sean is seduced at the idea and he convinces Beverly it would be great for their careers.

Johnny Knoxville and co. deliver 'the spectacle of comedy pared down to its barest essence,' one critic says.

A scene from "Jackass 3D"

The first two "Jackass" flicks shotgunned their way to the top of the box office. "Jackass 3D" will probably be no different. The only question should be if the third of Johnny Knoxville's stunt-heavy movies can top the opening of his second.
"Jackass Number Two" bowed to $29 million on over 3,000 screens in 2006. "Jackass 3D," by contrast, is set to screen in about 30 more theaters, and comes with an inflated ticket price, thanks to its third dimension. Some box-office experts are predicting the new movie will gross upwards of $30 million, which would make it the first film to cross that plateau since "The Expendables" in mid-August. Other B.O. authorities expect "Jackass" to land in the mid-to-high $20 million range.

As much as I like to pretend I'm a pretentious, high-minded supporter of filmmaking as art, I really, really love 'Jackass.' For better or worse, I'm fairly certain I'm the only member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association who put both 'Synecdoche, New York' and 'Jackass Number Two' on his Top Ten of the last decade. But while you - much less they - may or may not agree that Johnny Knoxville's breakthrough TV show and subsequent film series is as hilarious, fun, and enjoyable as I do, 'Jackass 3D' is a sort of antidote to this year's cinematic doldrums, a gag-inducing celebration of the stupidity that's ubiquitous in the majority of 2010's offerings, albeit gloriously worn on its sleeve rather than submerged in the pretense of high-concept entertainment, much less capital-a art.

More often than not I sit down to write this column and I have to face down the biggest and hardest part of the entire part: finding something intelligent to say about something on television. This can be anything from a breakdown/analysis of what is happening on one of my favorite shows to my take over-all on the direction I see something taking, whatever that thing may in fact be. I toil over this portion because I, unlike many of my print oriented (and some web based) piers, don’t receive early reviewer copies of any of the shows. It can be a bit of an uphill battle but at times I get struck in the head with a bit of an idea that I’m able to run with and I walk away happy. This isn’t one of those weeks.

O.K. I’m just going to come out and say it: Hollywood, if you can’t come up with an original idea, just go the hell away. If all you have are “reimaginings” then I can just watch reruns. Garry Marshall tells Extra that he’s working up a Laverne & Shirley movie and he’d like Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner to star in it. How awful does that sound?
Reader Brenda points us to a Los Angeles Times poll of the 50 Classic Movie Kisses. It’s votable, it has video, and it has two kisses between guys: Sunday Bloody Sunday at #32, and Brokeback Mountain at #47. They have pictures, video, and a poll you can vote in. Go, vote now!
In honor of Valentine’s Day, NPR has a mix of music for making out, or judging by some of the later tracks, getting’ busy. I have to admit,...

Jackass star Bam Margera has re-ignited rumors he slept with Jessica Simpson while she was still married after appearing on the Howard Stern radio show on Tuesday. Margera's former fiance, Jenn Rivell, told a Pennsylvania radio show in 2005 that Simpson and Margera had sex while the pop star was still married to Nick Lachey. At the time, Bam's father Phil Margera also told Philadelphia radio deejays Preston & Stern his son admitted bedding Simpson. Stern interrogated Margera on his show, asking about the night the two spent together while she was filming The Dukes Of Hazzard with his Jackass co-star Johnny Knoxville. Margera said the relationship was blown out of proportion, but admitted he "bumped into Simpson", which caused his fellow Jackass co-star Steve-O to say suggestively, "Yeah, bumped into her!" Margera claims they "wound up at her parents house drinking margaritas and it went from there" and said afterwards he "left at eight in the morning." When Stern asked Margera if Simpson looked good naked, he said she had a personal trainer for the film adding, "Yeah, she looked good. I can't deny that!"...
