CBS is banking on the built-in appeal of existing properties as it plans out its fall schedule, with pickups todays for four dramas – Limitless, Rush Hour, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Code Black – and two comedies – Life In Pieces and Angel From Hell. Those series orders are in addition to CBS giving an early pickup to Supergirl two days ago.
Limitless, based on the 2011 Bradley Cooper thriller of the same name, will focus on Brian Sinclair (Jack McDornan), who gains super-intelligence after taking the drug Nzt and uses his new gift to solve crimes for the FBI. Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter fame co-stars and Cooper himself may appear in the pilot, passing the torch to McDornan, as the show is expected to serve as a sort of sequel to the feature film. Heavy hitters are involved with this one as well, with the likes of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Todd Phillips all producing.

The TV series based on Bradley Cooper’s Limitless film will star Jake McDorman, also seen in American Sniper…
Here’s an interesting coincidence – Jake McDorman, who starred alongside Bradley Cooper in American Sniper (he played Biggles) will now take the lead in the TV version of Limitless, the Bradley Cooper vehicle from 2011.
Jake McDorman will play FBI employee Brian Sinclair, who “is coerced into using his newfound drug-enhanced abilities to solve weekly cases for the FBI,” after gaining Nzt-enhanced abilities.
Deadline describes this character as “the role Cooper originated in the Limitless movie.” However, as our commenters have pointed out before, Cooper’s character was an author called Eddie Morra. As far as we can remember, the FBI didn’t feature at all either.
It’s a bit of a mystery, then, whether the show will be linked to the film at all, or whether it will be a...

Leaping from one special set of responsibilities to another, Marc Webb has now signed on to direct the pilot episode of CBS’ drama series, Limitless.
The forthcoming show has seen a switch in directors very close to its production start date. Originally, Divergent helmer Neil Burger – who also directed the 2011 movie – had been locked in for a stint in the director’s chair. He recently dropped out of that particular duty after he signed on to lens the pilot for Showtime’s upcoming financial drama, Billions. However, he will still act as producer alongside Bradley Cooper, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
A joint production between CBS TV Studios, K/O Paper Products and Relativity Media, Limitless the show will in part be based on the 2011 film starring Cooper and Robert De Niro. Written and executive produced by Craig Sweeny (Elementary, Medium), the show will pick up exactly where the movie left off.

Marc Webb has signed on to direct CBS's Limitless pilot.
The drama, a television sequel to the 2011 film starring Bradley Cooper, was initially supposed to be helmed by Neil Burger, who directed the original movie.
Burger, also attached to direct Showtime pilot Billions, withdrew as a result of scheduling issues, reports Deadline.
Webb is known for helming the Amazing Spider-Man films as well as (500) Days of Summer.
The TV adaptation of Limitless will focus on Brian Sinclair, who is forced into solving cases for the FBI using enhanced abilities acquired from taking the mysterious drug Nzt.
Cooper is executive producing the project, alongside Burger, production company partner Todd Phillips, writer Craig Sweeny, Heather Kadin, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
However, Cooper is not expected to reprise his role from the original film.

CBS has been planning a television series based on Bradley Cooper's "Limitless" movie. Neil Burger, who directed the film, has been attached to helm the pilot episode of the series, but recently dropped out due to a scheduling conflict. Deadline is now reporting that Burger has been replaced by Marc Webb, the director of the two "The Amazing Spider-Man" installments. Burger, however, will still remain as an executive producer. "Limitless" follows Brian Sinclair, the character played in the film by Cooper, as he discovers the power of the mysterious drug Nzt and is coerced into using his newfound drug-enhanced abilities to solve weekly cases for the FBI.

Neil Burger is replaced by Marc Webb in the latest update from the Limitless TV adaptation…
Remember when we had a huge flurry of film-to-tv adaptations to report on after Fargo popularised the idea of such projects? Well, now one those projects is beginning to move forward – the telly version of the Bradley Cooper vehicle Limitless.
Interestingly, the film’s director Neil Burger has now pulled out to focus on the pilot for Billions (a new programme on the Showtime network) instead. If there’s a motivation there beyond the cited ‘scheduling reasons,’ it’s being kept schtum.
As one of our commenters rightly pointed out last time we reported on this show, departures have been made from Burger’s film version (Cooper’s character Eddie Morra is now called Brian Sinclair, for starters). The show is about this character’s quest to use his ‘newfound drug-enhanced abilities to solve weekly cases for the FBI.

Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man experiences may have left him with a bruise or two but he remains a director with visual flair and an eye for character. A good pick, in other words, to shepherd the pilot of CBS's TV adaptation of Bradley Cooper sci-fi Limitless to the small screen.According to Deadline's scoop, he'll be taking the reins from Neil Burger, the man who brought Limitless to the big screen in 2011. Burger has been waylaid on the New York shoot of another pilot, Showtime's Wall Street drama Billions. If you didn't see it, the original Limitless is a pharma-powered thriller - Lucy without the superheroics and all that Morgan Freeman exposition - in which schlebby journo Brian Sinclair is transformed into a cerebral powerhouse when he stumbles upon a secretive new drug called Nzt. The TV pilot will translate the premise into a procedural in which the FBI...

Poor Bradley Cooper, as his big movie Limitless is being turned into a TV show. CBS has officially ordered for a pilot to be made based on the movie to turn it into a crime show. Craig Sweeny will write it and Bradley will be a executive producer. However, we have not heard of plans of him starring in it.

Remember Limitless? The Bradley Cooper movie from 2011 about the guy with the brain and the drugs? Well, CBS just ordered a pilot based on it. Cooper is among many attached to executive produce, along with Neil Berger (the Limitless movie director), who will also helm the project. Although the pilot is based on the movie, it will feature a new character — Brian Sinclair — who taps into the powers of Nzt and is then forced to use his superhuman Mensa skills to solve weekly cases for the FBI. Yes, weekly, because time flies when you're using 100 percent of your brain.

A televisual follow-up for Bradley Cooper vehicle Limitless is on the way…
It seems we have another film-to-tv project in our midst. 2011's Limitless is the latest adaptation to be joining the ranks of Westworld, Hitch, Minority Report, Uncle Buck and many more (read the whole list here).
Limitless, as you probably already know, featured Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in a sci-fi world where drugs could endow you with superhero-esque abilities.
CBS is producing a pilot, for a series which will actually serve as a sequel to the original film. Although it’s not confirmed if Bradley Cooper will return to the role of Brian Sinclair, it's known that Brian will still be the central character. He will, we’re told, be ‘coerced into using his newfound drug enhanced abilities for good.’
Cooper is, however, confirmed as an executive producer, alongside Todd Phillips, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
