Exclusive: Having successfully adapted The Summer I Turned Pretty books into the popular Prime Video YA series, Wiip is aiming to do the same with another YA title. The independent studio has acquired Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ novel Little White Lies, to develop for television.
Like the breakout first season of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, Little White Lies takes place over a debutante season.
It is a mystery series about a teenager from the wrong side of the tracks who agrees to move in with her estranged maternal grandmother and do a debutante year, but only because she’s determined to figure out which scion of Southern high society is her biological father.
Wiip’s Paul Lee, Mark Roybal, and Nate Winslow will executive produce alongside Barnes and A Star Is Born executive producer Heather Parry, who brought the project to the studio.

After premiering at Cannes this year, Neon’s acclaimed David Bowie documentary “Moonage Daydream” will get a one-week limited engagement on Imax when it hits theaters on September 16.
Directed by Brett Morgen, “Moonage Daydream” tells the story of the iconic rock star through his own words and music, combining never-before-seen archival footage of David Bowie’s decades-long career with kaleidoscopic imagery and new mixes of his most famous songs. Bowie’s longtime collaborator Tony Visconti also worked on the film with the sound team of Paul Massey, John Warhurst and Nina Hartstone, who won Oscars for their work on the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Beyond the music, the film explores Bowie’s artistic and philosophical journeys, starting with the androgynous icon Ziggy Stardust and expanding into films, paintings, theatre, sculpture, and audio collages. Bowie’s estate granted Morgen unprecedented access into the archives of the star’s work, making this...

Live Nation Entertainment announced Thursday that Heather Parry will leave the company following a Variety investigation into allegations of workplace bullying.
Parry ran Live Nation Productions, the TV and film arm of the touring conglomerate, for three years. In December, Variety reported that Live Nation’s human resources department had been repeatedly warned that Parry was verbally abusing her subordinates. Parry also was accused of using offensive slurs in the office and denigrating African-Americans. She denied ever using discriminatory language, and apologized for any hurt she may have caused, saying it was unintentional.
Parry was put on leave on Dec. 21, as Live Nation hired an outside firm, Paul Hastings Llp, to conduct an investigation. The investigator, Elena Baca, interviewed numerous current and former employees, who in many cases restated allegations they had already made to the company’s Hr department. Live Nation Entertainment has placed production chief Heather Parry on a leave of absence in response to a Variety investigation into allegations of verbally abusive behavior and offensive language.
The move comes more than six months after 10 employees filed Hr complaints, according to multiple sources interviewed by Variety over the past four months. The complaints apparently went nowhere until Friday, as Live Nation prepared an official response to this story. Parry, who is an executive producer of “A Star Is Born” and produced documentaries with Lady Gaga and Sean “Diddy” Combs, has operated the film and TV production arm of Live Nation Entertainment since December 2015.
“At Live Nation we pride ourselves on having an open, accessible and inclusive culture,” a Live Nation spokesman said in a statement. “We take all employee complaints seriously and have retained a third party to investigate. We have placed Ms. Parry on leave during this time.

How does Heather Parry, president of Live Nation Productions, operate? A telling example comes in answer to a question about how her company became involved with “A Star Is Born,” the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga vehicle that is already one of the biggest films of the year.
“I know Bradley, and as soon as I heard he was going to direct it I called his agent, Dave Bugliari, who was on a ski lift at the time,” she recalls. “I said, ‘How does Live Nation get involved with this movie? We have venues and festivals and concert tours and all these assets and ways we can help you market,’ and he was like ‘I’m on a ski lift!,’” she laughs. “But to his credit, he called me right back and then talked to Bradley. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s duet, “Shallow,” from “A Star Is Born” has finally been released — and be prepared with tissues handy.
In “A Star Is Born,” Gaga’s character Ally writes a song when she meets Cooper’s Jackson, and he brings her out on stage to sing the song together at one of his shows. It is probably one of the most emotional and overwhelming parts of the film.
But that’s not to say you shouldn’t listen to “Shallow” over and over again before the film comes out on Oct. 5.

Pride, the celebration of the Lgbtq community through the month of June each year, is as good an occasion to mark quite how much progress in the battle for equality has been made, and how far there is to go. “Believer,” a sweetly earnest new documentary airing on HBO, has plenty of the latter; it exposes the painful ostracization and hatred of gay people in the Mormon community. But it shows plenty of progress, too, embodied in the person of Dan Reynolds, an appealing protagonist whose status as a proud ally is a splendid and sympathetic example of a society-wide change of heart that’s happening, albeit too slowly.
Reynolds, the lead singer of Grammy-winning rock group Imagine Dragons, is straight, and married to a woman. But he’s become increasingly troubled by the antigay beliefs, implicitly and explicitly stated, of his faith, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints...

Premiering, no doubt by minutely planned design, at the Toronto Film Festival just as its subject glides through Canada on her world tour, documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two offers fans of pop star Lady Gaga an artfully casual, precisely spontaneous glimpse into the life of their idol, filmed in 2016 while she was working on her latest album Joanne. Directed and filmed by Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New York, Me at the Zoo), and produced not just by him and Live Nation’s Heather Parry but also Gaga herself and her manager Bobby Campbell, this is certainly an entertaining enough watch,...

Original Post: Kim Kardashian hasn't returned to the spotlight just yet after her terrifying robbery in Paris in October, but she is starting to get out and about with her family again. The reality star was photographed attending Shelli Azoff's Christmas party at The Forum in La on Wednesday night. Shelli is the wife of music manager Irving Azoff, who has worked with stars like Christina Aguilera. While the bash looked fancy with elaborate decorations and fellow celebrity guests like Kate Hudson and Courteney Cox, Kim appeared to keep things casual in a hooded sweatshirt and minimal makeup. There was also no sign of her husband, Kanye West, who made headlines earlier this week for his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump in New York City.
