From the middle of the 30's he concentrated completely to the film business.
After the war he normally worked for the DEFA where he was able to prove again his abilities as a highly gifted filmcomposer.
Zeller was the son of a vicar.
After graduating from high school in Potsdam, Zeller continued studies with violinist Felix Berger in Munich, and with composer Jean Paul Ertel, in Berlin.
Between 1921 and 1929 he was violinist and in-house composer for the Berlin Volksbühne orchestra.
