- According to Jackie Chan's autobiography, Yuen Wah is an accomplished martial artist who possesses a skill to mimic and emulate any technique of martial arts with which he is presented.
- He was Bruce Lee's stand in for Fist of Fury (1972) because they had a similar body type and he was able to copy Bruce Lee's style.
- In his autobiography "I am Jackie Chan" Chan related a story from his youth where he and his fellow Peking Opera Students (including Yuen Wah) were forced to do hand stands for hours on end. One time they were doing them and then the master yelled "Stop!" and all the boys dropped to the ground, except Yuen Wah. The teacher and students went over to see why and found he had fallen asleep, while maintaining a perfect hand stand.
- Alongside Lam Ching-Ying and Tung Wai, Yuen Wah is one of the few HK Stuntman to have been initiated to Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee.
- Besides Jeet Kune Do, Yuen Wah is well versed in Wu Shu, Hung Gar, Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do.
- Yuen Wah is another member of the Chinese Opera School from which Jackie Chan, Sammo Kam-Bo Hung and 'Yuen Biao' graduated.
- For the young stunt player Yueh Wah, art imitated life on the set of the Shaw Brothers production martial arts period piece 'Ren pi deng long (1982)' when Yuen was seriously injured while doubling for lead actor Tony Liu costumed in white on a wire stunt designed for Yuen to be vertically elevated through a roof hatch while harnessed on a wire to meet an authentic flying bamboo lance. The stunt was mistimed with the sharp flying projectile aimed at Yuen right between the eyes. Yuen reacted with a quick-reflex protective spin-turn away with back facing the spear but it impaled him entering through his right shoulder blade and exiting his under-arm. The costumed Yuen was taken to the hospital with the bamboo pole still in his body and Yuen's costume stained with real blood doubling for theatrical gelatin blood.

- Yuen Wah (Yuen Hua) was born and bred in colonial Hong Kong with family roots from the Tianjin ('Tietsin') region of Mainland China.
