The closing minutes of Loki‘s Season 2 finale left us skeptical that the show could ever come back for a third season — but executive producer Kevin Wright has a different vision.
When the Nov. 9 finale concluded (read our full recap), Tom Hiddleston’s character had found a way to save all of time and space: by weaving the temporal loom’s many branched timelines into the World Tree (aka Yggdrasill) that connects the Nine Realms, and becoming the keeper of the Sacred Timeline who is seated on the throne at the World Tree’s center. David Tennant and Catherine Tate returned to the Whoniverse this Saturday in the whimsically titled Doctor Who Special 1: The Star Beast, the first of three hour-long, Disney+ episodes designed to introduce the recently announced Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa.
This first special prefaces itself with a handy recap: For the good of the universe, Donna Noble (a returning Catherine Tate) cannot ever remember the Doctor. Her heroics saved everyone, but the price — all of her memories — meant that any knowledge of who she used to be would kill her. She has been living happily and obliviously for years,...

An official update on Loki Season 3 came from recent comments by a Marvel executive producer.
Following the culminating moment of Loki Season 2, making Tom Hiddleston's character God Loki at the end of time, the actor did not rule out any future appearances.
In addition, producer Kevin Wright commented on the possibility of Season 3, stating there are "many, many, many more stories told with Loki" set within "the Loki world."

Sometimes, you have too many irons in the fire and must take one out and let it cool. According to Deadline, Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is no longer helming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for Marvel Studios. Deadline says they hear Cretton’s exit is amicable, with the in-demand filmmaker remaining in the Marvel family for Wonder Man and Shang-Chi 2. Thankfully, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is years away from hitting theaters, giving Marvel ample time to reassign the Infinity War-level project to another director. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty releases on May 1, 2026, setting up Avengers: Secret Wars for May 7, 2027. The two event-driven films end the MCU’s Phase 6 timeline.
Cretton remains a creative force on Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man, which he co-created with Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner. Cretton executive produces Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man. Filming for the Disney+ series falls under...

If you look at it from Sylvie’s point of view, the first season of Marvel’s Loki was a total success story. The vengeful variant of Asgard’s God Of Mischief crashed into proceedings with a specific agenda in mind: to not only find whoever was running the Time Variance Authority, but to strike them dead, overthrow the notion of the Sacred Timeline, and free the multiverse. Check, check, check. By the end of the Season 1 finale, Sylvie had ticked everything off her to-do list – even if it left, well, the entire notion of reality hanging in the balance. She is, in her own way, a complete inspiration.
Heading into Season 2, then, it was Loki who scrambled to piece the very fabric of existence back together while Sylvie tried to enjoy the fruits of her labour – or, the McDonald’s burger of her labour. It was a journey that took in more time travel,...

Loki Season 2 producer Kevin Wright shed new light on why the new season didn't end with a classic MCU post-credits scene.
While the MCU is well-known for its post-credits scenes teasing what's coming in the future, more recent projects have not continued that trend with shows like Secret Invasion closing off the full story before the credits roll.
Loki Season 2 continued that pattern by only including two post-credits moments across its six episodes - one scene in Episode 1 with Sylvie visiting a McDonalds in 1982 Oklahoma and an audio-only moment in Episode 5 bringing Brad Wolfe's voice from the Zaniac arcade game.

Loki season 2 has come to an end with the titular villain-turned-hero taking his place as the God of Stories and becoming the guardian of the Temporal Loom a.k.a the threads of the entire multiverse. Whereas Loki’s first season assured fans that the show and its cast of characters would be returning for another round, season 2 ended with no such promises. Now we’re left to wonder when or if we’ll get to see the Tva and its merry band of misfits again.
So far, the powers that be aren’t ready to fully confirm or deny whether or not we’ll get a third season of Loki, but one of the show’s producers Kevin Wright has said that “season one and season two [of Loki] were always conceived as two chapters of the same book. We want to close...

For the first three phases, the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed to be bulletproof. Even when a wrench was thrown into the machine, and Marvel Studios had to recast for someone like Edward Norton or replace a director like Edgar Wright, Kevin Feige’s ultimate vision would keep the train from derailing. The studio’s bubble is currently expanding to the point that many feel it will burst from the tension. One of the biggest hurdles going forward is how the studio plans to handle actor Jonathan Majors in his role as Kang the Conqueror. Majors’ ongoing controversy and a lingering trial, which will either convict or release the actor of domestic abuse charges, is casting an unforeseen shadow on the future of the multiverse era.
Many have been waiting to see what Marvel decides to do with either the Kang character or Majors in the role. Some think they can...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loki, Season 2 Episode 6 “Glorious Purpose.”] Loki‘s second season has come to a close and with it, the ending of a major chapter for Tom Hiddleston‘s former God of Mischief as the titular character transformed into a new kind of God. By the end of the episode, he’s sacrificed his freedom and life for the safety and possibility of his friends’ lives, leaving them and everyone else the option of free will as he maintains the timelines and branches upon He Who Remains’ (Jonathan Majors) former throne. Replacing a broken system with something new and potentially better, Loki takes the throne and leaves his Tva team to keep potentially dangerous variants of He Who Remains in line. Below, directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson along with executive producer Kevin Wright answer some of the biggest questions posed in Season 2’s finale. The second season of Loki proved to be a wonderful addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and one of the biggest highlights (at least for me) was Ke Huy Quan as Ouroboros, the Time Variance Authority’s resident tech expert. From the sounds of things, no one loved the character more than Quan himself.
“Well, first of all, when I read the script, I instantly fell in love with Ouroboros,” Quan told Deadline. “It was so well defined on the pages, and I can see him right away. This character was not based on comic books, so it was created by our showrunner Kevin Wright and our head writer Eric Martin… I instantly wanted to play him.” After the success of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Quan got a call from his agent telling him that he would be getting a call from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the...

Major Spoilers for Loki season 2 finale. Well over a decade after Loki’s introduction in Thor, the Asgardian’s tale has come to an end… or has it?
The recent finale of Loki found the character destroying the Time Loom and rejuvenating the dying branches into a new structure resembling Yggdrasil. He then accepts his role as God Loki, overseeing all the branches in solitude at the end of time. Loki head writer Eric Martin spoke with Deadline about the character’s new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the road it took to bring him there.
“Going into Season 2, it felt like an opportunity to bring gravity to the series to step up a level, because we marched up the line and got to the man behind the curtain and the stakes got extremely high at the end of the season. Let’s keep climbing. Let’s keep building that,...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Season 2 finale of “Loki”
The “Loki” Season 2 finale has come and gone, inscribing Tom Hiddleston into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for all time, always — and more importantly, alive. According to directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, it was never going to end any other way for the reformed villain.
In the finale, now streaming on Disney+, Loki ends up sacrificing himself not only for his friends, but for all the possible timelines and dimensions in the MCU. As a result, he becomes the God of Stories, sitting at the center of Yggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse mythology that gives structure to the universe and supports the 9 realms of existence.
It’s decidedly a sacrifice, but maybe not the kind some people were expecting, considering how many times he’s already died in the MCU. For what it’s worth, Benson and Moorhead could have...

In the end, reports of Jonathan Majors’ presence as Kang the Conqueror in Loki’s sophomore finale were greatly exaggerated.

Spoiler Alert! This Q&a contains spoilers for Season 2 of Loki.
Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ Loki expands upon the inner workings of the Time Variance Authority, where the God of Mischief has been working tirelessly to save, well, all of time.
That includes introducing new characters, like Ke Huy Quan’s Ouroboros. As the Tva’s dedicated handyman, everything inside the institution was either created by him or is currently maintained by him. When Loki and Mobius enter his workshop, they become his first visitors in 400 years.
Little do they know, Ouroboros is an integral part of their quest to prevent the branches of time from overloading the Temporal Loom.
Following the end of the actors strike and on the heels of the Loki Season 2 finale, Quan spoke with Deadline about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his character Ouroboros, and his own full circle career moment.

This Loki article contains spoilers for season 2 episode 3
The Loki episode “1893” saw the return of the Tva’s mascot and everyone’s favorite sentient clock, Miss Minutes (voiced by Tara Strong). Journeying with Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) to the past, Miss Minutes puts into motion a plan supposedly left by He Who Remains to ensure that one of his variants regained control of the Tva after his death. Though they are successful in inspiring this variant, Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors), to pursue the life’s work of his predecessor, Miss Minutes betrays Ravonna and convinces Timely to leave her behind.
At first this betrayal seems like it may have been part of He Who Remains’ plan all along. Loki discovered that variants of Ravonna and Kang were once romantically involved in the season 2 premiere, so it’s possible that He Who Remains wanted to avoid the potential distraction for Timely.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loki, Season 2, Episode 3.] Loki keeps things moving in its second season as the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) headed to the World’s Fair in 1893 Chicago alongside Mobius (Owen Wilson). Unlike past reconnaissance missions completed with Mobius, Loki has the upper hand as he and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) were the ones who met He Who Remains and would be able to more easily spot his variants. “In Season 1, it was really helpful to have him on the back foot because it allowed him to go on this really unexpected journey of growth,” executive producer...

Cliffhanger endings in TV shows have always been stress-inducing, but they're especially so now that it's common to wait two years or more for the next season. Such was the case for "Loki," the third Marvel Studios series to launch exclusively on Disney+, which aired its season 1 finale back in July 2021 and finally returned for season 2 this month. That's a long time for Loki to wait in limbo, having broken the Sacred Timeline, set a Multiversal War in motion, and found himself in a version of the Tva where statues of He Who Remains are everywhere and no one remembers who Loki is.
"Loki" season 1 director Kate Herron told Variety that the cliffhanger ending wasn't originally part of the plan, saying the show had originally been approached as a miniseries. "As we got deeper into production, everyone was very happy, and obviously there's so much to explore with Loki," she explained.

Loki director Dan DeLeeuw spent nearly 30 years in visual effects, but he knew it was time for a change after receiving his second and third Oscar nominations for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. DeLeeuw worked as the on-set visual effects supervisor on all four of the Russo brothers’ Marvel films, and having directed second unit for Joe and Anthony during Endgame’s additional photography, he quickly realized that his next step involved the director’s chair.
“It was definitely something like, ‘Where do you go from here?’ ” DeLeeuw tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Caesar wept because there were no more worlds to conquer, so where do I go after Endgame and not get bored with it? As Marvel reportedly prepares to revamp its approach to television programming, “Loki” remains the only one of the nine series to get a second season. But, according to executive producer Kevin Wright, there wasn’t pressure in that fact — it was more like a responsibility.
“I could see how you could go that way. I think we found it as really freeing and exciting,” Wright told TheWrap. “Because it was like, we’re getting it because people liked it, and they were excited, and they’re super stoked. And also, because we end on the cliffhanger we end on, it would be cruel to not come back and pay that off.”
That said, Wright notes that he and his team made a concerted effort not to take fan enthusiasm for granted when crafting these six episodes.
“I think, for the team, there was a seriousness in the undertaking of it though,...

That said, Wright notes that he and his team made a concerted effort not to take fan enthusiasm for granted when crafting these six episodes.
“I think, for the team, there was a seriousness in the undertaking of it though,...

Though Marvel still has not commented on it officially, Loki Season 2 executive producer Kevin Wright admitted that the situation surrounding Jonathan Majors' arrest in March is "a complicated [one]."
Despite the arrest due to alleged assault and the allegations which surfaced following it Majors is returning to the MCU in Loki's newest season. The Kang the Conqueror actor is expected to appear in at least three episodes.
Marvel has not made any statement on the matter, but a report suggested that Majors could stay in the franchise through Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Spoilers for the "Loki" season 2 premiere follow.
When news first dropped that Ke Huy Quan was officially joining the MCU in the second season of "Loki" (check out /FIlm's review), longtime fans of the beloved actor could hardly contain themselves. After bursting back through the gates of Hollywood after winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his multi-layered performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once," the continuation of the Quan-naissance was all but assured.
For a certain generation, Quan will always be immortalized as a certain archeologist's sidekick in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and, perhaps even more revered for his role as the bumbling young inventor Data in Richard Donner's "The Goonies." Along with all the other neighborhood kids from the wrong side of the tracks, Data teamed up with Mikey, Mouth, and Chunk to uncover the pirate treasure hidden by One-Eyed Willie to save their childhood homes.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loki, Season 2, Episode 1.] Loki is back and bringing on plenty of new characters to keep the fast-paced plot interesting with stars like Ke Huy Quan and Rafael Casal joining the mix. Already, questions are being raised around these latest additions, and series executive producer Kevin Wright is offering some clarity as we prepare to dive into the six-episode run this fall. Picking up where fans last saw him, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has found himself in the Time Variance Authority (Tva) during a point in time when He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) was openly ruling. The God of Mischief takes off into a run when Mobius (Owen Wilson), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and more characters who don’t recognize him begin a pursuit. Realizing he’s in the past, Loki finds himself fading back and forth through time, landing once again in the present with Casey (Eugene Cordero) who is able...

Sure, the “time slipping” phenomenon that Loki experienced during Thursday’s Season 2 premiere couldn’t have been achieved without some excellent visual effects.
But it also couldn’t have happened without series star Tom Hiddleston “performing his heart out” to make the time slips look believably exhausting, which he did to great success on Loki‘s set, exec producer Kevin Wright says.

If the season two premiere of Marvel’s “Loki” felt like a bit of a fever dream for you, don’t worry, that’s what’s supposed to be happening. Because, according to executive producer Kevin Wright, crafting this season was all about “straddling the line between intrigue and confusion.”
The episode, now streaming on Disney+ picks up almost exactly where season one left off, with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) returning to the Tva only to find that Mobius (Owen Wilson) has no idea who he is. That’s because, as we learn, Loki was kicked into the past, before he and Mobius even met. From there, Loki starts “time slipping” — something that’s supposed to be impossible within the Tva — to different points, apparently on the same timeline.
That’s about as concisely as we can sum it up though, because from there, the timelines and branches get pretty interconnected,...

Warning: the following interview contains spoilers about tonight’s first episode of season 2 of Loki
After Loki’s amiga Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) opted to kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) spurring multiple nefarious versions of the newbie villain across several timelines, Loki was sent back to where it all started: the bureaucratic, office grind of the Tva — but a very different one; one where his new best friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn’t recognize him. Out of touch with his soulmate, Loki is trying to find his way back to her. However, like Chicken Little, he’s trying to tell everybody that the sky is falling; that Kang the Conqueror is coming their way. We talk with Marvel executive and Loki season 2 EP Kevin Wright, who is with the series from start to finish, script to post, about the daunting task of living up to what was a spectacular season one.

If there is one constant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is that Kevin Feige and the powers that be never let fans go too long without a visit from the devilishly charming God of Mischief. It’s been two years since Tom Hiddleston’s Loki first introduced fans to the possibility of the multiverse through variants, the Time Variance Authority and Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains in “Loki” Season 1. Since then, we’ve seen Peter Parker (Tom Holland) recreate the famous multiple Spider-Man meme, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) traverse the multiverse to defeat Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Majors portray a Kang variant known for conquering the Quantum Realm in “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.”
All of this is to say that it’s nearly time for our regularly scheduled visit from everyone’s favorite mischief maker. So ahead of “Loki” Season 2, here are five things you need to...

“Loki,” which returned for a second season on Thursday, might (low-key) be the top Disney+ original series. Though “Star Wars” spinoff “The Mandalorian” is generally considered to be the star of the original Disney+ shows, a long look at Nielsen data suggests Tom Hiddleston’s “Avengers” spinoff may be the brightest celestial body in the galaxy.
Since Nielsen launched its weekly Streaming Top 10 List in 2020, of all Disney+ original series, 19 have charted at least once, totaling 120 overall appearances for the streamer. Of those 120 appearances, 12 reached 1 billion minutes viewed: nine for “The Mandalorian,” two for “Loki,” and one week for “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
“Loki” first hit that magic number with the release of its fifth episode. It did again with the first season’s sixth (and final) episode. Strong backloaded viewership makes sense in the on-demand era: More minutes available to binge (see: Netflix and “Suits”) and the payoffs that come with...

Hey, remember when the "Loki" season 1 finale ended on that massive cliffhanger revealing that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie's (Sophia Di Martino) meddling at the Citadel at the End of Time had caused some pretty major ripple effects throughout the multiverse, inadvertently setting up Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror as the major antagonist for season 2? I sure hope you do because, other than maybe one or two shots from the original trailer released months back, you wouldn't be able to tell from the marketing that the next Thanos-level supervillain has anything to do with the show's latest batch of episodes.

Production on the new season of “Loki” was unusually smooth.
In a new interview with Variety, Kevin Wright, executive producer of the Marvel series, was asked if actor Jonathan Majors’ arrest earlier this year affected season 2.
“I know as much as you do at the moment. It felt hasty to do anything without knowing how all of this plays out”
“No,” he said. “This is maybe — not maybe — this is the first Marvel series to never have any additional photography. The story that is on screen is the story we set out to make. We went out there with a very specific idea of what we wanted this to be, and we found a way to tell it in that production period. It’s very much what’s on screen on Disney+.”

Jonathan Majors’ role in “Loki” Season 2 wasn’t on the chopping block amid the actor’s assault allegations, according to Disney+ series executive producer Kevin Wright.
Majors was arrested in March on charges of assault, strangulation, and harassment. The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star was later dropped by his publicist and was removed from a series of upcoming projects. Majors is awaiting trial while his accuser has been granted a restraining order. Reports of Majors having alleged violent outbursts on sets have also been made public.
The actor can now be seen in “Loki” Season 2, debuting on Disney+ October 5, reprising the roles of He Who Remains and Victor Timely, both variants of Kang the Conqueror whom Majors portrayed in “Quantumania.” The inclusion of Majors in “Loki” amid the allegations prove that Kang has not been recast yet, or if the Phase 6 lead villain will be at all.

The God of Mischief is about to embark on a new multiverse-hopping adventure. Tom Hiddleston returns as the fan-favorite character of Loki in season two of Disney+’s Marvel Studios series, Loki. Season one of the spin-off show introduced Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. While Kang’s further development in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is an attempt to solidify his place as the new Thanos, Majors’ off-screen controversy of abuse claims put Marvel in a tight spot of deciding what to do with the actor.
Variety has recently caught up with Loki season 2 executive producer Kevin Wright, where he spoke about what’s to come in the show. Wright was asked if the March arrest of Jonathan Majors changed the trajectory of his involvement with this season. He responded, “No. This is maybe — not maybe — this is the first Marvel series to never have any additional photography.

Loki has been on a journey. From would-be royal assassin and usurper, to attempted Earth conqueror, to redemption, to death, to that death turning out to be fake, to a second redemptive arc, to actual death, all the way back to attempted Earth conqueror again, and then, finally, along one last redemptive arc in season one of the Disney+ series, Loki.
But there is always a challenge when a character shifts from villain to antihero to straight-up hero. Part of Loki’s appeal has always been that he is a loveable bastard. So now that Loki has gone full hero, where is there for him to go next?
“Loki has clearly changed over the course of that first season, and he knows he’s changed,” says Kevin Wright, co-executive producer on Loki seasons one and two.

The second season of Loki is right around the corner on Disney+, and fans have so many questions about what to expect.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Kevin Wright broke down some major talking points about the series.
For starters, he revealed if there are any plans for Loki to continue beyond the upcoming season. He also weighed in on Tom Hiddleston‘s titular character. Is there any chance he’ll be back in action in the future?
Kevin also addressed Jonathan Majors, who is set to play Kang the Conqueror in the series. Despite multiple accusations of abuse against the actor and an ongoing lawsuit stemming from assault charges, he was not written out of the show.
The producer explained what actions, if any, were taken as the allegations against Jonathan were emerging. He also shared why Disney and Marvel proceeded the way that they did.

Of the eight live-action TV shows that Marvel Studios has produced for Disney+ to date, only one has concluded with the explicit promise of a second season: That would be “Loki,” the outrageously entertaining series about Tom Hiddleston’s god of mischief and his metaphysical exploits in the Time Variance Authority.
It turns out, those plans were already in the works before a second of “Loki” had ever streamed. As executive producer Kevin Wright explains to Variety, he and Hiddleston began talking about Season 2 of the show while in production on the third episode of Season 1.
“As we were shooting the ‘Lamentis’ episode, Tom and I started having lots of conversations about how this world could build out, how we dive deeper into it,” he says. “A large part of what we wanted to do was not trying to repeat ourselves, and not try to play the hits.” At the same time,...
