Co-produced by Corey Yuen and Yuen Biao, with the two of them also function as action director, and the first being credited as the director and the second as the protagonist, “Righting Wrongs” is considered one of the best movies of the latter and has now reached the status of cult for a number of reasons.

In that fashion, some trivia regarding the production are definitely interesting to mention. According to Rothrock, Golden Harvest originally signed her to play the villain opposite of Jackie Chan in Armour of God, but when production halted due to Chan's near-fatal filming accident, the studio reassigned Rothrock to Righting Wrongs with Biao. While practicing her moves for the film, she injured her right Acl; rather than take time off to undergo surgery, she proceeded to shoot her scenes using her left leg for her kicks.

When the topic of cannibal films comes up in genre discussions, the likes of Ruggero Deodato’s seminal “Cannibal Holocaust” or Trey Parker’s “Cannibal: The Musical” are the first choices to come to mind. The outright brutality mixed with the pointed social commentary on the nature of mankind in “Holocaust” or the sheer over-the-top hilarity in dealing with such a dark subject matter of “Musical” is what keeps them in the forefront of the genre regardless of their preference for either the exploitation or entertainment side of the genre. Early into his career, the legendary Tsui Hark combined these two elements and created this masterpiece genre effort mixing graphic carnage with comedy and cannibals.

Few movements in the genre emerge as more uniquely localized to a central country than the Hong Kong black magic scene. This started in 1975 with the aptly-named Black Magic from director Ho Meng-hua that focused on bizarre occult rituals, gross-out sequences of shock horror, and wild special effects. Despite Kuei Chih-hung reaching a zenith in the genre with the seminal The Boxer’s Omen several years later, this earlier effort is no less impressive, enjoyable and outright revolting at times.
Following the discovery of a dead body, police detective Bobby Wong (Melvin Wong) becomes intrigued by the story of chief suspect Stephen Lam Wai (Fei Ai) who claims to have been possessed at the time of the murder. Traveling to Thailand to investigate the claims, a strange series of encounters begin that draw Wong to the same conclusion, that he himself has become possessed by a madman in...

“Amour fou” is a frequent plot driver that has been used since the beginning of cinema. Literally translating as “mad love”, obsession and doomed romance are staples of such tales. “Fatal Love” fits nicely into this category with two star-crossed lovers trying time to escape inevitable tragedy.

Wesley Wong comes from a famed Chinese acting family. His father is Melvin Wong, a comedic and martial arts actor who worked closely with Jackie Chan while his mother Angie Chiu was one of China’s biggest TV stars. As the son of actors, it seemed like Wong would want to pursue a similar career path — not so much. Wong stopped by the New Hollywood Podcast to talk about how before making the decision to become an actor and his debut in Pacific Rim: Uprising, he took a detour from his expected career route.
At first, Wong wasn’t necessarily avoiding an acting career, but it wasn’t at the top of his list. He moved from China to the U.S. and spent some time in the San Francisco Bay Area and then went on to the University of Southern California to study finance and earned a degree in Business Administration.
