Classic entertainment format Supermarket Sweep is returning in the UK after ITV2 ordered a 20-part primetime run.
The Al Howard-created show, which is based on the format that aired on ABC from 1965-67, will return on the Love Island broadcaster with Rylan Clark-Neal as host.
The original series ran on ITV for more than 500 episodes with Dale Winton as host.
Fremantle-owned Thames is producing the show after the Rtl-backed firm acquired the format rights in 2017.
Stripped across four weeks, the show sees contestants face a series of supermarket challenges before trying to win a cash prize following a trolley dash.
It will be exec produced by Phil Harris and Adam Hutchinson after being commissioned by ITV’s Paul Mortimer and Paul Tierney.
Clark-Neal, who earlier today bagged himself a BBC One fashion format, said: “It’s a dream come true to step inside this very special supermarket and...

British broadcaster ITV is bringing back Play Your Cards Right, the classic gameshow that was originally adapted from U.S. format Card Sharks.
The show, which was famously hosted by Bruce Forsyth, who died in August 2017, is being piloted with The Friday Night Project and Chatty Man star Alan Carr hosting the non-tx ep. This comes after Carr’s golden handcuffs deal with rival Channel 4 ended earlier this year.
Play Your Cards Right, which started in 1980 and ran for 248 episodes across a number of iterations, follows two couples as they played a series of games. The host would begin with questions based on surveys of 100 people. The first couple would guess how many of the 100 answered the question a certain way and the other couple would have to guess whether the answer was higher or lower. Then the teams were handed a series of five cards and they had...

UK TV and radio host Dale Winton, known for fronting popular shows including ITV’s Supermarket Sweep and BBC’s lottery program In It To Win It, has died aged 62. The host died at his home on Wednesday according to his agent Jan Kennedy.
Winton spent nearly a decade hosting the ITV daytime game show Supermarket Sweep between 1993 to 2001 and again when it was rebooted in 2007. Contestants on the show were tasked with running round a supermarket collecting items to win cash prizes. He began his career as a DJ which led to work in radio. Most recently he made a show for Viacom-owned Channel 5 called Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Drive, the final episodes of which were due to air in June.
Winton is also known to have suffered from depression. He told ITV’s Loose Women show in 2016, “I always thought, ‘Get over yourself.’ But my mum died of it.

We're so sorry to hear this. After years of reportedly suffering from ill-health, British TV star Dale Winton sadly died in his home at age 62 on Wednesday, April 18, his longtime agent confirmed "with great sadness" to The Guardian. "While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time of grief," Jan Kennedy said in a statement. In the years prior to his passing, Dale — who was most known for hosting the UK versions of Supermarket Sweep and In It To Win It — privately battled health issues and kept details of his condition from fans. Until 2015, Dale was all over British television, but when he disappeared (and even missed the funeral of his best friend and fellow TV presenter Cilla Black) fans understandably grew concerned. They’re a funny old thing, gameshows. Some take the nation by storm, others you wouldn’t watch if you were paid to, with the rest fitting somewhere in between. Those that fall into the first category are ripe for resurrection and slotted back into schedules as if they’d never been away, with varying degrees of success – Channel 4’s recent resurgence of The Crystal Maze has been one of the greatest comebacks in TV history. Yet when it emerged last month that The Weakest Link, complete with Anne Robinson, could be making a return to our screens after a five-year absence, opinion was divided somewhat: do we really want people going round mimicking that God-awful catchphrase all over again? Whilst you’re busy pondering, here are five game shows that, for different reasons should remain exclusive to Challenge TV.

Game shows are a light hearted staple of our TV schedules. We can rely on them to be entertaining without demanding too much in return (apart from Only Connect). They are the TV equivalent of a warm bath or a nice pair of slippers. And what's more, the whole family can enjoy them. 92 year old grandma visiting? Best leave Game Of Thrones and opt for some Bullseye instead. Kids up late? Stick on some Family Fortunes...

It's been 18 years since Alan Partridge first mooted the notion of Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank - and as of last week, the project is a dream no longer.
Eubank's team-up with Hostelworld is, of course, a deliberate tip of the hat to Steve Coogan's comic creation - but too often the telly schedules are plagued with examples of #AccidentalPartridge.
Behold, 12 shows that sound like they sprang straight from Alan's fertile mind - this little lot are on a par with Inner City Sumo or Arm Wrestling with Chas 'n' Dave.

Celebrity shepherding - Lesley Joseph goes from Birds to sheep and Fazer from N-Dubz lends livestock some street cred.
No-one makes a pun on Amanda Lamb's name, though. Missed opportunity.
2. Gordon Behind Bars
"Cooking in prison" was a format that Alan Partridge actually pitched to Tony Hayers, but it took foul-mouthed foodie Gordon Ramsay to make it a reality.

BBC One's brand new Saturday night gameshow Can't Touch This is among a raft of new entertainment programmes which have been ordered by the broadcaster.
The ten-part series - which will be filmed in Belfast - has a simple enough premise: if you touch a prize, you win it. However, nothing is that easy and contestants will have to negotiate a huge assault course while battling it out to touch the prizes.
BBC One has also ordered a new series called Five Star Family Reunion, in which long lost families have to work together to be reunited in a five star location.
Elsewhere, Shane Richie's quiz show Win Your Wish List will return for eight more episodes in 2016, while Nick Knowles's programme Who Dares Wins has won an eight-episode order - including a Eurovision special. Dale Winton's In It to Win It will also be back for eight more episodes.

The opening episode of Britain's Got Talent was delayed this evening (April 12) by ITV's coverage of Fa Cup football.
The semi-final tie between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal went to extra time and penalties, resulting in Britain's Got Talent starting 45 minutes later than scheduled at 8pm. Arsenal emerged victorious.
The news was met with anger from some enthusiastic fans of Simon Cowell's talent show, while others hoped that the episode would be delayed indefinitely. However, most took the opportunity to joke about the situation.
Take a look at some of the best reactions to the delay below:

It's game show heaven on television right now. Not only do we have all sorts of new formats making their way to screen, but some old favourites are getting a second lease of life, too - from Fifteen to One (airing daily on Channel 4) to the second series of the revived Catchphrase (Sundays on ITV.) But it got us thinking - what other game shows would we like to see return to our living rooms?
Well, we asked that very question to Fifteen to One's Sandi Toksvig and Catchphrase's Stephen Mulhern - and then had a bit of office debate about our own favourites...
You Bet! - Stephen Mulhern (Host, Catchphrase)
"This is an easy question: You Bet! It was one of my favourite TV shows and Matthew Kelly was one of my favourite presenters. I love it.
"I can give you some great examples that still amaze me to this day.

Celebrity Big Brother star Luisa Zissman argued that men are better than women today - but it was all part of a game.
To pass the time, the housemates agreed to deliver a series of fake lectures in which they would argue for something they strongly disagree with.
"Luisa, please stand up behind the sofa," Jim said. "The lecture you will give, without repeating yourself, stuttering or saying, 'Oh f**k' for five minutes will be why you believe men are the stronger species than women."
Luisa groaned as soon as she heard the suggestion, prompting the other housemates to start laughing.
"Good morning," Luisa began. "I am Luisa Zissman and I am here to talk to you about why men are a stronger species than women. Hmm. If you look back in history, men have always been the more dominant sex."
She paused, before adding: "They have cared and looked after women for decades,...

Mr Chips is back! The cheeky snake-charming, animated golden robot is back on primetime TV for the first time in over a decade this weekend, as ITV revives the classic gameshow Catchphrase.

What can we expect from In The Flesh, a new three-part zombie drama coming to BBC Three this March?
In the decade since Shaun of the Dead, UK zombies have faced cricket bats, Big Brother contestants, cockneys, strippers, and now, small town prejudice.
Set in the remote Northern village of Roarton, new three-part drama In the Flesh tells the story of Kieren Walker, an eighteen-year-old ‘cured’ zombie (or Partially Deceased Syndrome sufferer to use the correct parlance), and his attempt to reintegrate back into family and community life.
Kieren’s return is met with hostility from Roarton’s local vigilante group, the Human Volunteer Force, which numbers the local vicar, the father of his former best friend, and his sister amongst its members. Having spent his pre-cure days tearing into human innards with the other ‘Rotters’, Kieren not only has to cope with the acrimony of the village,...

The Let's Dance for Sport Relief 2012 final dazzled over six million viewers at its peak on Saturday night, overnight data reveals. Comedian Rowland Rivron's victory in the BBC One charity show, which had Us superstar Katy Perry as special guest performer, was seen by an average of 5.7m (25.8%) between 7.15pm and 8.50pm. Batman is an icon, synonymous with the superhero genre and with comic books in general. However, unlike many comic heroes Batman has evolved, constantly changing to keep up with the times. With Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises coming to our screens in a mere 12 months WhatCulture! is looking back at the changing face of the beloved Dark Knight.
Detective Comics Issue 27 (1938)
The Case of the Chemical Syndicate, issue 27 of Detective Comics saw the début of a new character for DC, the Bat-Man. Following the tradition of pulp detective comics, the Bat-Man was a crime fighting detective who had no qualms in killing his adversaries.
Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the original basis for Batman was a combination of pulp and detective heroes The Shadow and Sherlock Holmes. Visually Kane was influenced by Leonardo De Vinci’s designs for a flying machine that was based on the wings of a bat.

(With Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big screen comeback halted before it even got started, I thought it was time to post an old favourite from 2009 to remember the Arnie we love)…
We all recently bore witness to the abomination that was Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus – the most mind-numbingly awful movie since Jordan met Dane Bowers’ toe… In actual fact the Jordan movie has slightly better CGI – those breasts almost look real… but I digress.
To tie-in with possibly the most brain scrambling, out and out dumb movie to ever see the light of day currently polluting our screens, I decided to pay homage to the real king of the brainless movie: The Governator himself, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnie is a cinematic icon, there is no questioning that, but he is also responsible for a veritable smorgasbord of some of the most criminal, yet genius puns and one-liners in the history of cinema.

Hello Dancing On Ice fans! Last week we lost Sharron Davies after she ignored the advice of the verable Messrs Torvill and Dean. We hope her shoulder is recovering Only 7 skating couples remain – and with most of the weaker competition eliminated at this point, will Emily Atack finally fall foul of the public vote.
But first, this week’s Hollywatch – she’s wearing a glamorous frock as usual, but it looks like the dress has slipped down about four inches from where it should be. Not that I’m complaining, ladies and gentlemen, I’m a big supporter of Holly’s cleavage…
The show is opened by a beautiful routine by Torvill and Dean with music provided by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Katherine Jenkins. They’re joined by the professional skaters waving flowing white flags.
Scoreboard Hayley Tamaddon and Daniel Whiston – 25.5 Daniella Westbrook and Matthew Gonzalez – 22.0 Danny Young and...
